  1. A trade up two spots in the 2019 Draft to a high second round pick (giving up a 2019 5th round pick to do so) to select a failed offensive tackle (who was repositoned and again failed at guard) that you flip for what will likely be a mid to late 5th round pick is a terrible ROI any way you slice it. No one bats 1.000, but second round picks are supposed to play and play well through their first contract (and ideally beyond). These aren’t automobiles. You get a guy into your program, and develop him the right way, then he should appreciate in value (at least until they reach their full potential and begin to slip due to age). Beane saved a little face getting out from under a terrible investment for a 5th rounder for someone not in the team’s future plans doesn’t make it a complete loss (particularly if they would’ve cut him for nothing), but that shouldn’t be considered “fantastic” (or even “fine”) ROI. They got pennies on the dollar for him. It was a failed draft pick and decision to trade up for him. Beane even admitted as much in his presser today saying they need to go back and reevaluate how this happened during their draft process.
  2. Yeah, Zay was definitely a bust, but I didn’t include him because he was technically picked before Beane got here. Boogie is one of those players though. Granted it’s only year 2, so too early to call him a miss, but this is a big year for him.
  3. Paul seems like a nice enough guy, and I don’t typically like to disparage anyone for doing their job, but I absolutely cringe when they bring him on. I find that he says almost nothing. And when they give him an opportunity to be insightful/creative, he makes a basic/high-level point and then immediately says the same thing over again that he just previously said with a slightly different inflection as if it’s a new point and he didn’t just repeat himself. I always let out an audible “uuuggghhhh” ever time they say Paul is coming up next. I suppose he has his fans though, so to each their own.
  4. Man…blast from the past. I used to LOVE Empire Sports Network. Howard, Jim Brinson, Bob Trimble, Art Wander. Wall to wall Bills content on the “little engine that could” regional sports network. Must-see daily programming for me back in the day. On par with ESPN’s Sports center, Sunday Countdown, and NFL Live for me in those days.
  5. For as great as Beane has been, second round selection success has been rough. Can’t hit on them all of course. Here’s hoping Epenesa and Cook can buck that trend. I’m optimistic on Cook. Not super confident on Epenesa, but we’ll see how he does under Von’s tutelage.
  6. Wow. Not great ROI, but glad they got something out of a guy not likely to have been in their plans after this year.
  7. Those early camp reports with Tre working hard off to the side and the Jeremy Fowler report had me encouraged, but the opener is coming fast. They’ve demonstrated time and again they are fairly tight lipped on these things and won’t rush a guy back (so that and/or medical clearance is probably most of it), but it sure would be nice to know if we can expect any contribution from Tre early in the season. Tough slate of games to start. I know every guy coming back from this sort of injury is different, but I see guys like Logan Thomas coming back today in only 8 months and it starts to stoke my anxiety (Thomas supposedly had a worse injury that occurred later in the season than Tre - ACL, MCL, and medial and lateral meniscus). Like somehow, God forbid, Tre had a setback or the injury was more serious than we know. That said, corner has to be one of the hardest positions to come back from an injury like this with all the suddenness required of the position. The optimist in me is still holding out hope Tre gets back on the practice field by next week and is ready to go Game 1.
  8. Wish they’d give us something more concrete on Tre.
  9. Surprised Dak isn’t higher with as much as the league is constantly shoving the cowboys in our faces.
  10. Mike Daniels must’ve been on lunch break. Honey Badger and JuJu. Honey Badger was really complimentary of him.
  11. Po #45.
  12. He keeps playing like this you’re right.
  13. I really like Blackshear. Guy just glides. He won’t make the team, but I’d love to have him on PS if he’s not scooped up.
  14. I’ll always love Tasker, but man is he a brutal listen.
  15. Kromer might end up being the most impactful addition to the team this year.
  16. Even Bobby hart is playing well. 😯
  17. These refs man. Moss looking like a different dude.
  18. Moss looking like his rookie year again with that injury fully healed up now.
  19. They are giving Bendord every opportunity here. Super encouraging for a late round pick.
  20. Mac at #85 makes me question the whole list.
  21. Keenum trying to do his best Peterman with all these TOs. Even Peterman was a preseason MVP though.
  22. Keenum has been terrible. But…preseason.
  23. Back up D has been stout!
