Bills 2021 Draft - Overall Assessment
ghostwriter replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, even the top 1Ts didn’t go till much later in the draft. Keep in mind that we have two on the roster already. Is Ed Oliver not the future? We have Star for two more years, Horrible Harry came on strong towards the end of the year. I think we keep an extra end this year and focus on pass rush. Josh will put up points, pass rush matters more. -
Bills 2021 Draft - Overall Assessment

Star will be our main 1T, when he needs a breather, Oliver will be our 1T and behind him we’re probably looking at Harry vs Butler vs Zimmer. Rousseau and Boogie will see lots of snaps at 3T. We may keep an extra end. -
Bills 2021 Draft - Overall Assessment

I’m giving it an A. I believe that both Boogie and Rousseau will be pretty good DEs, maybe not elite ones but 8-10 sacks per year kind of guys. Spencer Brown will replace Williams as the starting RT within 2 years and I feel he will be an above average RT and not by a little. Tommy Doyle will likely be OL depth, not fodder, but depth. Only “knock” I have is I wanted a CB, but McD really has a knack for finding these guys late in the draft. My guess is that between either Hamlin or Wildgoose, one of these guys will step up. I trust McD when it comes to drafting DBs. Looks like we added depth in the secondary and more importantly STs depth but McD finds quality DBs, sometimes even starting ones in the 7th RD or UDFA. Marquez Stevenson will be our 6th WR. I do believe he will beat out Hodgins because a) Beane wants speed and b) He can also play STs. He is a wildcard player, may turn into a decent weapon for Josh down the line. I believe our depth chart will be: Diggs/Sanders/Beasley/Davis/McKenzie/Stevenson. So I see at least 3 high level starters from this draft long term (Rousseau/Boogie/Brown). I do think that Brown will be an impact player right away in goal line and jumbo packages etc. and ultimately the depth we added here with Brown, Doyle and Anderson is an extremely good thing for Josh and our run game. Maybe 1T could be a concern as well. We are getting Star back which is nice and we do have Ed Oliver as well. Worst comes to worst you occasionally plug Oliver in at 1T when Star needs air, he is more than adequate in that sense and although most people see him as a 3T, he can do good at 1T. We must also keep in mind that Rousseau and Boogie are killer 3Ts, so it seems to me that we have a very solid if not formidable rotation between our 3T/1T rotation. Horrible Harry is a wildcard as is Justin Zimmer! I think Vernon Butler will be the odd man out and we can save some imperial credits of the realm there cap wise. DE is a very interesting reality for us right now. Once again, I do believe that Rousseau and Boogie will be above average starters in this league and I do think Epenesa can be a lunchbox steady rotational player behind them. Addison will be gone although they may keep Jerry Hughes out of respect for what he brings to this team as a leader and as a veteran. Daryl Johnson will be fighting for his life in camp. I do think he has upside at DE and IIRC he is fairly good on STs. Should be a dogfight in camp and who knows? They may keep an extra end because Rousseau and Boogie will see a lot of time inside. -

Well, they’re clearly putting a lot on Star. Can Harry come back from his ACL? He flashed potential as a 1T before his injury. Will Rousseau get snaps at 1T? He did play there at college. We clearly have a decent stable at 3T: Oliver, Boogie and Rousseau, but we’ll if they can find another big body at nose. I do think our staff believes that Josh can put up points so there is more of an emphasis on penetrating DTs. You don’t need a big fat blob in there if the other team is playing from behind. -

Well, McD/Beane said they wanted more speed, also Stevenson and McKenzie are both STs players, we’ll see. -

Don’t we kind of already have that in Reggie Gilliam? He’s an H-back, is he not? -

Bills trade pick #174 to HOU for two 6th round picks

I wanted Tedarrell Slaton, but Beane and McD know better than I do. Very interesting draft and I mean that in a good way. First three picks were fantastic. -
Mac Jones vs Zach Wilson
ghostwriter replied to ChronicAndKnuckles's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’m strictly a Trevor Lawrence and Trey Lance guy. I’m kind of on the fence about Wilson, I mean, he could be good but I just don’t see it. He’s the one I’m most unsure about. I do not believe that Fields or Jones will be any good either. I also think that Lawrence will be good, but not a generational player. I think if the 49ers hang onto Jimmy Garoppolo for a few years until his contract runs out and they sit Lance on the bench and develop him, that would likely be quite a decent outcome for them long term. -
Is this a real or Fake photo? Rousseau?

Who do you think would win in a fight? Beane and McD cloned 50x or Gregory Rousseau? -

My friend, I’ve got to hand it to you. Most draft buffs do not have the faintest clue in what they’re talking about, but you do. I went over the TBD Mock 1.0 and you were right on the money on just about everything. I value your opinion but I completely disagree. Our offense is elite, if we can bring up that defense a little bit I think we are going to make another deep push. -

I’m hoping every single pick goes to defense. -
It sure does my friend. I think of when the Colts had Robert Mathis and Dwight Freeney during Peyton’s golden years. Put up 30pts and watch Freeney and Mathis get to work on the opposing teams QB. I think our team is being built in that model. Obviously our offense can put up points, but now we have a violent pass rush that goes along with it. What will Wilson, Tua and Mac Jones do when Josh drops 30 on them and they need to get their team out of that hole? Even for a veteran, high end QB that’s a heck of a challenge. Got 2-3 seconds to dump the ball off and many of your options will be covered like a blanket at that point.

I wanted Boogie! I thought there was no way we would take him because of Rousseau but when we did, I cried tears of joy. Especially since we had a terrible pass rush last year. I thought Boogie had a late 1st round grade to maybe early 2nd round grade, he was excellent value at 61, I couldn’t believe it.
