Cheers buddy. And for the record, I'm not necessarily against Allen, I just want to see how the process plays out. His arm is undeniable, just a few red flags. Now if this guy scored a 40 on the wonderlic and killed it during the interviews, I would be 100% on board with Allen. Once again, I can't think of a prospect with a better arm than Allen, maybe even going back 15 years. Allen would be in the top 5 of all QBs in the NFL as far as arm talent goes, I just want to see how he handles the mental aspects of the game.

Oh, OK. Rudolph was inaccurate in a few games burn him at the stake. Allen gets a pass though for having a CAREER 56% average.
-
Rudolph took care of the ball more and he did thread the needle more often, he may not have as good a deepball as Allen but Rudolph is a much more accurate passer, that's a fact. Short and intermediate throws, Rudolph wins in spades. Turnovers and accuracy is a huge issue with Allen. What was it? 20+ turnovers the last 2 years with Allen? No thanks.

You mentioned Rodgers, I mentioned Russell, it's just a gentle reminder that this kid is 50/50. The stats are not there, there is not much to go off of. QB is more of a mental battle than a physical one so let's let the process play out. His turnovers are a huge concern but by all means if McD interviews the kid and feels like he is smart and can use his brain to make good decisions and put that ball where it needs to be, draft him. I'm just pumping the brakes on this, I'm not the kind of guy who likes to rush into things, especially a prospect with big question marks.

Do you remember JaMarcus Russell? He could throw a ball 70 yards on his knees, he had great 'potential' too. Once again, I want to see how he does at the combine, the wonderlic and during interviews. His physical abilities mean nothing if he is a dum dum. Let the facts come out before you compare him to Rodgers. I like Rudolph, most people are going crazy over Mayfield and Allen.

Woman killed & eaten by her pet pit bulls

Sometimes they snap because of bad owners, sometimes they snap simply because of mental disorders. Humans suffer from mood disorders such as Bipolar, Schizophrenia and psychopathy why can't a dog? With that said, do not ever own a dog unless you 100% intend to be the alpha of the group. If you do not establish yourself as the pack leader, your dog will walk all over you. Some dogs are not meant for snuggling, they are meant as service dogs. German Shepherds and Pitbulls should only be used by law enforcement or military. If you want a snuggle buddy, get a golden retriever, you never hear about them mauling people. -
That's going to determine whether or not he is a 1st round pick or a 2nd. Physically he is on par with Big Ben but once again, his stats do suck really bad but if he blows coaches away in interviews with a high understanding of the game, he will be drafted very high. It's the difference between him being Big Ben or Paxton Lynch. Only the FO will know, the talent is there, no doubt but at this point it's about what's 6 inches between his ears. If checks out mentally, the pick is much less risky.

Why I wouldn't want Cousins in Buffalo
ghostwriter replied to essential's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This draft reminds me of the 1983 draft with Elway, Kelly and Marino. Rosen and Darnold will be franchise players and I think between Rudolph, Allen, Jackson and Mayfield, odds are I think there willbe a third franchise QB somewhere in there. -

There is no way he walks, I expect him to stay with the Redskins. -
You could be right. I am really curious what Allen scores on the wonderlic, it would kind of give us an idea on whether or not he is just a towering QB with a big arm or a guy with a great understanding of the game. That's not something fans know by watching a few games or highlight videos, the tools are there but once again, what's his football IQ? This is where McBeane and McD try to get a good feel for him on the mental aspect of the game and if he does check out, no way he lasts to our pick.
-
Great decision. Could potentially change my opinion of him.
-
Could be. My opinion could be completely wrong and I own that. I'm just a draft junkie. CBS has Rudolph rated as their 13th best player ahead of Darnold and Rosen. https://mweb.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospect-rankings

Most colleges are not running a pro offense, it makes evaluation difficult but that's just the way it is. It doesn't mean we should disregard every QB that ran a spread offense.
-
But if Allen went to a big school, would you be talking about how the talent around him inflated his numbers? It's not fair to say Rudolph dominated because he played for a big program and then pin Allen's lack of success solely on the fact that he played for a small program. Don't you see the irony there?
-
Rudolph played much bigger schools and put up much better numbers. Once again, even if Allen wasn't surrounded with the best talent, he wasn't exactly playing big schools. I find it ironic how you criticize Rudolph because he put up big numbers with a talented roster around him yet you give Allen a pass because he had no talent around him. So what we know is, Allen couldn't dominate with a less talented roster but he could possibly be more productive with a more talented roster. So how does that make him any better than Rudolph? Truth is, we don't even know if Allen would be better with a talented roster around him.
-
But we're talking about a guy who threw 13 TDs and 12 INTs last year. Sure, I guess he can become the next Big Ben and btw, I play guitar, there is a chance I can become the next Jimmy Page. That's right. If we wait for a generational talent, we may never find our QB. I could raise my standards bang only supermodels, problem is, I'd never get laid.
-
Trent Dilfer won a SB, Joe Flacco, Eli Manning, Brad freaking Johnson. Tons of slightly above average QBs have won. Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Ben Roethlisberger type QBs don't grow on trees. I think if those are your standards, you're never going to be happy. I'd kill to have Andy Dalton or the Kansas City version of Alex Smith type QB here. You can win a ring with a slightly above average, solid type QB.
-
Rudolph reminds me of an Andy Dalton or Alex Smith type QB for sure but he could be better or worse. Allen I think has a really good chance of flaming out. Should have taken Mahomes last year, that was my guy but here we are now. With Rudolph, I think we could be in the playoffs. I'm not saying Allen will bust but I think the riskiest prospect, too risky for me. I do. I think Rudolph is safer than Mayfield, Jackson and Allen.
-
Thing with Allen, you see this massive QB with a big arm that is physically imposing and you're getting caught up in his potential, potential that he may never reach nor shown and I think any time you draft based off of potential, you're much more likely to get burned. Rudolph doesn't have the arm Allen has, he can't run and gun like Allen does but he is a more cerebral QB than Allen is. Sure there are missed throws, sure he may never be a top 10 QB, he may likely be an Andy Dalton type QB but I'll take it because although his ceiling isn't as high, his floor is much much higher than Allen's. I was initially high on Allen but the more I learn about him, the more I want to run away. It's still so early, I don't know where I'd rank everyone right now.
-
They do mean something. Andy Dalton, Carson Wentz and Big Ben dominated while playing for smaller schools, Josh Allen hasn't done that, sorry but that's a huge red flag to me. Josh Allen is the riskiest QB prospect in the draft.
-
Fair enough but I can't see how you can justify Allen over Rudolph. Big arm isn't everything, good QBs make everyone around them better and carry their team on their back, Allen did not do that. I will admit, he has Big Ben moments but his production scares the living daylights out of me.
-
Rudolph makes routine plays that Allen doesn't, that's my fear with Allen. Sure, he has a cannon and can bomb it down field but Rudolph can thread the needle in the endzone and milk the short and intermediate routes with ease. I just think Rudolph is the smarter player. I meant as a passer.
-
I'm firmly in the Mason Rudolph camp.
-
We're not going to get a bulletproof prospect unless we package both 1sts and go after Rosen or Darnold. Your boy Allen threw 13 TDs and 12 INTs last year, where's your concern there? Baker is too short, Lamar is more of a runner and on and on we go. I can pick holes in any prospect, Brady was benched for Drew Henson! Every single prospect in this draft can be torn apart, even Rosen and Darnold. Rudolph has a pretty good arm and he can read defenses, I think he translates to the NFL, reminds me of Alex Smith.
