So is our QB from Free Agency or Draft?
ghostwriter replied to PrimeTime101's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am taking Beane and McDermott at their word. They may trade up, but I don't think it will be a colossal trade. I don't think it's a smokescreen, I believe them, some GMs and coaches are straight shooters, I think Beane and McDermott are one of them. -

I'm going off of common sense. Beane and McDermott both have said that we are not just one player away and that we have no intention of trading the farm. Rosen, Darnold and Allen are all going in the top 10, Mayfield will most likely be the odd man out and may slide far enough that we would have to give up very little to move up 5-7 spots to get him. Or it could be Foles, Rudolph or some other free agent QB, but I stand by my thought that if we do draft a QB in RD1, my guess is Mayfield. I can't predict the future and I'm not pretending to have inside info. -

I think it's Baker Mayfield. All signs point to him IMO. -
Tyrod Taylor Thanks Buffalo

Tyrod is better than given credit for. He was a better QB than Fitzpatrick was yet everyone loved Fitz, even though their styles were the opposite. Wish him the best in Cleveland, I will be rooting for the Browns this year. GO BILLS!! -
+1 I'd like to see us move up and down, play the board a bit. I could see us packaging up 21, 65 and a 2019 pick to move up into the 10-15 range for a guy like Mayfield. If I had to guess, I think 3 QBs go in the top 10, Mayfield is the odd one out because of height and character concerns. Turn around and trade down from 22 and stockpile even more picks for 2018 and 2019. You would have an elite QB prospect along with 5 picks in the 2nd and 3rd. 1st - Baker Mayfield 2nd 2nd 2nd 3rd 3rd

Bills signings & TT trade point to trade up
ghostwriter replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What if we select a QB at 21 and then trade down? We could be sitting on 3 2nds and 3 3rds, that would be enough to completely reshape our roster. Rudolph, Mayfield or Jackson at 21 and deal 22 for multiple picks. -
I want Case Keenum and a trade up for Baker Mayfield, I think he is going to slide into the mid teens and we won't have to give up a whole lot to move up and get him.
-
I understand. No offense taken. Smart move either way, definitely not the same old Browns. Wonder what Landry gets.
-
Makes sense. They got the money to pay Landry, smart play would be Barkley at 1 and QB at 4.

Bucs' WR Mike Evans About to Cash In
ghostwriter replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The big knock on him coming out was he was too slow and couldn't get separation. -

Beane: "I have no intent to move up or down"
ghostwriter replied to K D's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think they'll trade up if Mayfield or Allen fell in the 10-15 range, I have no doubt in my mind. I don't see us trading in the top 10 though. There is a big difference between trading 21 + a 2nd versus trading three 1st round picks and two 2nd round picks is a huge difference. I think he meant that he won't do the latter IMO. -
#1. Josh Allen says Mike Mayock and other insiders who say the BROWNS are considering him at 1. #2. I don't go every year, but I've been to games where it has rained in the 1st half and my clothes were drenched and by the 2nd half the temperature was below freezing. Quit pretending like RWS is like playing in a dome, not true. #3. From a sheer numbers standpoint, I mean at least 2-3 of the QBs this year are going to be long term starters in the NFL, I mean you got Allen, Rosen, Darnold, Mayfield, Jackson, Rudolph, White, Lauletta, etc. It's just a numbers game at this point, maybe we have to move up 5-10 spots, maybe we can just stand PAT, but I don't think we do something drastic and trade up to #2 or anything.
-
There is no slam dunk prospect this year, there are some very good prospects, but if Josh Allen is the #1 rated prospect, you got problems and that doesn't mean he can't be good, he could be the next Big Ben or he can be the next Paxton Lynch or Brock Osweiler. Btw, the conditions at RWS are hazardous at best, there are wind swirls that can carry a football into the air and the stadium is built on top of a graveyard. Also, I think if we are patient, we walk away with a nice QB prospect while not having to give up much at all. We can get our QB and keep our draft picks IMO.
-
Jim Kelly is a HOF QB, very few QBs can sling the ball the way he did at RWS in the weather conditions he did, he is the exception, not the standard and nowhere did I say I didn't want a franchise QB, I just don't think we should trade the farm for one. If one of the big 4 fall to 10, I think the risk to reward ratio is a lot more safer at that point. There is no alpha QB in this class, no Matt Ryan, no Matt Stafford, Jared Goff or Carson Wentz. Every QB has holes this year, there are rumblings that Josh Allen may go #1, let that sink in. This is not the draft to trade the farm for, stay put, of one falls package #21 along with one of our 2nds and move up.

Where did it say not bring in good players? I'm concerned with cap space, team identity and the logistics between tying up 20 million between Benjamin and Richardson on a run first team in a stadium that has conditions not conducive to a passing team. As far as QB and the draft is concerned, i dont see us trading the farm for a QB, we will be building through the draft. McD said that we are not as close as people think and Beane has said publicly he has no intention of moving up. We are not a pass first team, to tie up 20 million on two WRs (and to borrow your words) is 'ridiculous' and 'stupid'. We aren't going to win a championship as a pass first team, we need to build up our running attack and defense. I'm fine with adding a burner, but I'm not okay with tying up that much money on receivers for a team that plays in our type of weather and conditions. Once again, our idea on how to build a team is dramatically different.
-
So we pay Richardson 10 million a year and then what do we do with Benjamin? He will easily get over 10 million a year. We are talking about 20 million minimum tied up in WR with no QB on a run first team playing in a stadium that's notorious for bad weather. I'm all ears to drafting a WR, but Richardson seems like the type of player to bring in if you're one piece away, not for a team that is in full rebuild mode.
-
I respect your opinion, but Richardson is going to cost a lot, I just don't think it's wise to tie up that much money into it without a bonafide QB. We already have Benjamin, he runs through 2018, put that money towards an extension for him. Draft a guy and develop Zay Jones, I like Equanimeous St. Brown in the 2nd round.

Inordinate Amount of Focus on Quarterback
ghostwriter replied to Irv's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why can't we do both? We have 4 top picks, say one of the top 4 falls to 10-15, we could trade up from 21 while keeping most of our picks. We could walk away with Baker Mayfield and still have 22 to spend on a defensive prospect like Vita Vea. -
Please let this mock be our draft

Love the first three picks, though I don't know much about Frank Ragnow. -
Which to 4 QB is most likely to slide to 21?

Stranger things have happened. Will Sam Darnold's turnovers cause him to slide? Allen's accuracy? Mayfield's character? Rosen's attitude? -

Neanderthals actually were good looking and highly intelligent, they were largely responsible for intellectual growth through genetic mutations. They are extinct because they were to successful for their own good, they were essentially bred out of existence. White people get their red and blonde hair from Neanderthals, but I get what you are trying to say.
