Why not give McCarron an honest chance?
ghostwriter replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The backup is always the most popular guy on the team. If we start a rookie week 1 and he goes through growing pains, fans will be banging the table for McCarron to come in. Give the rookie all the time in the world. Sit him down, if McCarron is sucking 5-6 games into the season bench him for [insert draft choice]. -
Why not give McCarron an honest chance?
ghostwriter replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm pulling for McCarron, I don't care if we trade up to #1, he should be the starter until he does something to lose the job. Redshirt the rookie, pray that a year from now we have 2 good QBs, trade McCarron for multiple draft picks. -
I'm not wowed away by Darnold, Rosen or Mayfield. The guy I want is Josh Allen and trading up for him would be risky. I think #7 is where I'd pick up the phone and start trying to move up. #12 + #53 to the Bucs and see if they want to pick up an extra 2nd, but that's as high as I'd go personally.

Closest NFL comparison to Mason Rudolph... Tom Brady
ghostwriter replied to Troll Toll's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I renege my statement and I agree with your line of thinking, if the Bills FO thinks he can be a franchise guy, take him 10-15 spots from where he is projected to go. -
I’m all for Mason Rudolph with the 12th pick...
ghostwriter replied to Seanbillsfan2206's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think there is any chance we don't take a QB in the 1st. In a QB heavy draft with Beane on record saying his #1 priority is to find a franchise QB, I don't think he will take no for answer. All it takes is Allen, Darnold or Rosen to come tumbling down to 7 (probably Allen) and we can easily jump up 5 spots and no other team can match our firepower. -
Cover 1:. 5 Reasons Lamar Jackson is the Bills Target

See, I'm in the overdraft category, target which one you like, if he is a 2nd round prospect, take him at 22. We got to walk away with our guy. -

The thought of Vita Vea and Rashaan Evans is very appealing, but QB trumps all. I could see Jackson going to Arizona, I think that's a very strong possibility, but I think there is a chance Jackson and Rudolph slip to the very top of the 2nd round like 33-34 overall range. In an ideal world Allen falls to #6 and we move up for him and we never even have to have this conversation. I'm okay with Allen, Rosen, Rudolph, Mayfield, Darnold, Jackson in the 1st round. Take a chance on somebody! -

He can't be much worse than the 2019 class, in fact he would probably be 2nd behind Lock. Lamar would be my last option at QB in the 1st, but if everyone was gone, I'd absolutely take him at 22, without a doubt. Maybe with a bit of spit and polish we can shine him up and he can be groomed into a franchise QB. We got to pull the trigger on somebody, there is no other option! -

I do respect you very much as a poster, I'm a little higher on Josh Allen and Mason Rudolph than most. I don't really see eye to eye with many folks on those two actually, but I see Mason Rudolph has a bigger, faster and stronger version of Andy Dalton. You could be right, in an ideal world we take Rudolph in the 2nd, but that's not the way it works, QBs always get overdrafted. Better off taking him at 22 versus risking him being taken before us in the 2nd round. Rudolph is a 33-34 overall prospect at the latest. Who cares if we take him 10-15 spots earlier than he was projected to go? -

Well, do you think McD will be here in 2 years if we don't draft a QB? He has to hitch his wagon to somebody, what are his other options? Rudolph is a 2nd round talent, without hesitation. He may never be elite, but he is a good prospect and he can develop into an above average starter. Would it be high to take him at 22? Yes. But who is to say he makes it 53? What do you do if he is gone and McCarron and Peterman are our only QBs and there are no decent options going into 2019? McDermott and Beane could be out of a job. -

If we don't draft a solid prospect, even an Andy Dalton type prospect like Rudolph, we are going to be in QB purgatory for 2 years minimum. McDermott and Beane's jobs are on the line. -
Which QB is most likely to fall?
ghostwriter replied to Dadonkadonk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I want Allen more than any QB in the draft, if he doesn't fall, I want Rudolph as my plan b. -

There is no QB next year, we have to do something right now. Drew Lock is a helluva player, but outside of him, there is nada. If you have to overdraft Rudolph, fine. We have no choice. -

Funny thing is, if Rudolph came out in 2019, only Drew Lock would go ahead of him. There is literally no talent next year, the 5th and 6th best prospects in 2018 would go 2 and 3 in 2019. There is nobody next year unless we pick #1 overall and take Lock. -

Where would you guys rank Mason Rudolph if he was in the 2019 draft? Unless somebody rises up my list, I think if Rudolph came out in 2019, only Drew Lock would go ahead of him. -

I thought about Rudolph at 22, but I think we can get him in the 2nd, not to mention taking a QB in the 1st is a big commitment, a commitment I would only make for an elite QB prospect. A failed 2nd round QB, you can move on from in a year. A failed 1st round QB can get yourself fired. I don't think McDermott and Beane should rest their fate on an Andy Dalton kind of prospect. -
Dan Jeremiah - Bills covet Allen
ghostwriter replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I actually like Allen the most out of any QB in the draft, not enough to trade the farm for, but enough to trade up to #6 without hesitation. Guy has a golden arm, very mobile and can break tackles. I think Allen is a perfect fit for Buffalo and we are the ideal landing spot for him as well IMO. -
just take jackson and keep picks
ghostwriter replied to bufrock j's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd take Jackson in RD2, for sure. Assuming the top 4 QBs are gone: 12.) 1a. Vita Vea 1b. Roquan Smith 22.) 1a. Rashaan Evans 1b. Taven Bryan I would take Rudolph at 22 under the right scenario, but perhaps that's desperation on my end. If he is there at 53, why take him at 22? -
For all who want to trade up so bad

This x10. Don't draft a QB just to draft one, if the top 4 are gone by 12, move on and draft Vita Vea or Roquan Smith imo. -
Check Out this Mock after the Jets trade

I think there is a chance Mayfield or Allen is there at 12, I don't think it's this impossible scenario that many make it out to be. -

The Bills didn't beat up on the Dolphins in the 90s because Kelly was a better QB than Marino. We beat up on the Dolphins because we had the superior team. We have the opportunity to build a powerhouse. We could walk away with an elite LB, DT, C and add a speedy WR plus depth at OT and CB. The Jets will have the better QB for sure, but we will have the better team 10x over. -

No trades: 12.) Vita Vea, DT, Washington 22.) Rashaan Evans, LB, Alabama 53.) Mason Rudolph, QB, Oklahoma State 56.) Billy Price, C/OG, OSU 65.) James Washington, WR, Oklahoma State 96.) Josey Jewell, LB, Iowa 121.) Tony Brown, CB, Alabama 166.) Rick Leonard, OT, Florida 187.) Deatrick Nichols, CB, South Florida -
I was expecting (I was hoping for) 5 years 40 million total, so about 8 million AAV. We over paid slightly but he fits the scheme to a tee and he knows McDermott's system very well, but that's a little high for a run clogger and I worry if he sees year 3 or 4 of his contract, 10 million a year is a lot of pressure to live up to. I'm hoping that we pay him the 20 million over the first 2 years and then ideally he restructures down the line as he gets older and loses a step. Star may find himself at 30 years old making 10 million a year and Beane asks him to take a 2 million pay cut in the future and he may have to take it because he knows he won't get a better deal on the market, but that big ass 50 million dollar contract at least gets him in Buffalo. Then there is a chance he actually lives up to it.
