EJ Manuel is the opposite player of Josh Allen. EJM checked down over and over and never made big plays. Josh Allen makes tons of plays but struggles to check it down. They're completely opposite. The difference is that for EJM to develop he must make more big plays than he is capable of. For Allen to develop he must learn the mundane and tedious side of QBing, the boring B word work that any 7th round QB can learn.

It is true and Allen is a smart QB so there should be no red flags going into this. Absolutely no proof that Allen will not develop, there is more evidence to support Allen being a good QB than a bad one. I think you've just been crushed over and over from previous QBs that you're a bit hesitant to be supportive of new ones.
-
Once again, the good news for Allen is that the areas he's weak in areas that typically NFL veterans become proficient in over time. Allen can throw a 75yd strike to Robert Foster but he can't hit a 1yd RB screen? It'll come. As far as deep plays I think he's done more than you give him credit for. Foster has almost 400yds at 24yac. Zay Jones almost had a 3 TD 120yd game. He's making plays. Allen will become a manager in 2019 or will at least show development in that area next year. Every NFL QB should should should show growth here year after year. What you can't teach is the 45yd runs or TD passes thrown on a dime.

He does indeed project as a G or RT, but I think he could help us at LT if we put him there. Certainly better than Dawkins. Will he be a 10x Pro Bowl player? No. LT. Jonah Williams LG. Dion Dawkins C. FA/Paradis/Morse RG. Teller/rookie RT. Rookie/rookie id at least expect a unit that can get stuff done.
-
Bring Mills back on a 1yr deal. Draft a RT RDS 2-3.
-
If he goes to G I think it would help us more. If we draft a LT and RT we upgrade 3 OL positions with 2 picks. Dawkins would be an All Pro LG. Sign a center in free agency and we're doing ok.
-
I'm open to moving Dawkins to G and drafting a few Ts at this point. We're in a good position for Jonah Williams with that #1 pick, plug him in at LT.

Historically speaking most veteran QBs have mastered the game in the areas Allen needs help at. I think Allen's issues as a game manager will correct itself over time. It will all even out. The big playmaking mentality that Allen brings though is elite, you have it or you don't. Once again, Allen will grow as a manager, guaranteed. We just got to let Allen grow, he will continue to improve until he's 34 or 35.

Give Barkley the start next week?

People from space, they do not come from here. They are space people. -
I'm still here. Allen makes plays few QBs can make, it's just the routine check down passes he's struggled with. Allen needs to put on some tape of Chad Pennington and just observe him. Get more comfortable on them 5yd throws, play the chess game underneath. Most QBs do OK in this area over time, Allen just needs to put the brunt of his effort here this offseason. A pass catching TE and RB will get his completion % up quite a bit. Some of it is personnel and Allen has done well given the circumstances.

[Please Change Title] This is a loss I can deal with
ghostwriter replied to WMDman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We can get his completion percentage up, he needs a couple pass catching RBs and an OL. Then he'll be 63-65% guaranteed. He makes enough big plays a game, it's just the chess match in the red zone and 10yds underneath the D that he could use to work at in the offseason. -
Should the Bills Trade Down in 2019?
ghostwriter replied to Phil The Thrill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Trade down twice if you can. There's talent in every round. -

Need to see a big game out of Zay and hopefully our other WRs can make up the difference so we look like an NFL offense. Hopefully McKenzie plays and Foster gets some action. -
TJ Yeldon was a 2nd round pick a few years ago, career 4ypc guy and is an excellent receiver too. He was behind Fournette on the depth chart, bring him here to be our #1 RB. Shouldn't cost much. Could potentially be a 1,000yd rusher and putting up numbers as a receiver. Perfect guy for our offense.
-
Brady threw for 5,200 with Gronk and Hernandez. Fant can be our Gronk. Caleb Wilson could easily play the Hernandez role on the field. Tyrell Williams would go up against Zay for that #1 spot. Just another quality NFL target.

2019 Mock Drafts and top prospects
ghostwriter replied to thunderingsquid's topic in College Football
It's actually not a bad idea if you sign a veteran center in free agency (Morse/Paradis). LT: Dawkins C: Morse RT: Jonah W Itd at least be a clean pocket for Allen now. -
TJ Yeldon or Tevin Coleman would be nice and wouldn't cost too much. Plug them in at RB and draft 5-6 OL and a couple TEs, have the ability to pound teams. Mitch Morse is the 16th rated center on PFF, that may be where we go with the big money. Cole Beasley and Tavon Austin I'd go after as well, they upgrade us and cost pennies. Go to the draft for our other needs. Yeldon/Coleman combo would be interesting.
