  1. Maybe instead of "elite" speed we just need some good tackling and better coverage. I give us a better chance of looking like Cinci did if Tre was healthy.
  2. They mismanaged their time no doubt but 4 more seconds and there's still time on the clock even with that and they kick a field goal to end the half.
  3. Cinci doesn't squib kick it and Mahommes scores before halftime ............ think about that. Situational football.
  4. Coverage. Lock down coverage. Bengals didn't get there quickly but they did get there and the coverage left Mahommes with nothing.
  5. Last time the Bengals went to the SB it was vs the Niners ............. just saying.
  6. KC scored 3 points in second half ......................
  7. Coverage is more important than pass rush but the Bengals doing both in this game.
  8. Apple could have turned his mostly failed career around right there.
  9. Bengals picked the right time to have their secondary lock down the other team. We got figured out in the 4th quarter.
  10. I feel like this argument is like a guy who bought a Corvette and didn't get premium audio. You don't need premium audio. It would be nice but everything works without it. More over there is a small handfull of players with "elite" speed that are even worth mentioning with Hill being at the top of that list. 9 out of 10 track stars at the combine end up being kick returners or out of the league because they aren't talented enough at their position and the speed doesn't matter if you don't have the talent. That is why Singletary is starting not Brieda and why Davis is WR #2 and McKenzie is for the most part a kick returner who we hope develops as a receiver and stops muffing punts. We play zone all the time. Elite speed is probably low on the list of considerations for any CB we are looking to draft. Closing speed, tackling, coverage are all a much bigger deal than top end speed.
  11. 200 yards and 4TD's out of Davis makes the argument that you have to have speed seem a little silly in my opinion. The league leader in YAC is Kupp and the guy ran a 4.62 which is roughly the same speed as Singletary. Coincidentally the other whipping boy for the need to have track stars crowd.
  12. I want to pay Saquan money to a running back like I want another hole in the head. Time and time again Motor has shown if you give him carries he produces. As much as I thought he was capable I might have questioned his ability on the goal line but guess what, with a little bit of creativity and again some carries he produced TD's in 6 straight games. It's hard to look like a great running back on a team that doesn't want to run. If the Bill's want to run the ball Singletary can do it. That said I would love to see a change of pace bruiser (a guy who weighs more than 230) who has more running skill than just a full back for short yardage so it isn't always Allen's job to run in short yardage.
  13. Did Olivia Vernon retire? Supposedly he was still coming back from injury this year but he might be ready for next season. If the numbers were right he might be worth the gamble.
  14. The biggest impact in last night's game was Reid vs McDermott. If McDermott knew to squib kick there would be no need to talk of speed because we would have just outscored the Chiefs with the guys on this roster. There's no doubt in my mind we need a legit pass rusher more than track stars at WR and how we acquire a pass rusher I don't care. No one has worked out yet (signing or drafting) but that doesn't mean we can stop trying.
  15. I'm not sure AJE was ever supposed to have a ceiling like Bosa or Watt. He seems like he was more or less a replacement for Lawson, who in my opinion would have been a better pass rusher than anyone we had out there minus maybe Oliver. First year guys frequently need a year to develop and I can still see Rousseau getting better. Best case scenario with what we have (imho) is that Oliver and Phillips get even better at being disruptive and collapsing a pocket and our younger DE's can clean up because the QB can't step up all the time. The years that we had significantly higher sack numbers we had DT's that could break down a pocket.
  16. We need a Garrett or a Bosa or a Watt. It would be our Allen of the defense. A guy who makes everything else work even if things aren't perfect.
  17. It doesn't matter how many first round picks are on what side of the ball. You draft BPA or need. I can get behind needing some talent on the o-line. That said what this team is missing hands down is a pass rusher who can chase a QB all game long. Someone who plays in the backfield all game long like Garrett, Bosa, or Watt.
  18. If you kick it deep but not into the end zone they're not going to take a knee because they'd be starting on their own 15 yard line.
  19. I'm talking about tonights game. Epenesa made at least a couple of plays. Addison did nothing. Addison made a few plays over the course of the season you're right but he hardly played up to his contract and I'm not sure one of the rookies couldn't have totaled 6 sacks if they had played as many snaps as Addison.
  20. BPA or need doesn't dictate us drafting offense. I'm not saying draft defense but I'm not saying not to draft defense either. I wouldn't be surprised to see Rousseau or Basham play much better with Hughes and/or Addison gone after having a season under their belts. I'd go far as to say they were better than Hughes or Addison tonight. They aren't beating their blockers though and that's what we need. I don't care if we get a FA or keep drafting but we need a legit play making pass rusher.
  21. Is something wrong with the offense?
  22. I actually thought the young guys were noticeably better at containing Mahommes than Addison and Hughes. No one was beating their man off the edge. Oliver is possibly our best pass rusher at beating the guy in front of him.
  23. Epenesa made a couple good stops in the run and did more than Addison (not hard to do). Our Interior line wasn't bad at all. Hughes and Addison are useless.
  24. Don't forget Addison .............. he didn't even register on the stat sheet today but I promise you 97 was out there doing nothing most of the game.
  25. I'll buy the got pressure but (and maybe I'm asking for a lot here) non of our defensive ends ever win. They never beat a tackle and come around the edge and bury the QB. They come around the edge and get pushed past the QB as he steps up and escapes the pocket and either makes a pass or runs for 20 yards on us. If every QB was as athletic as Mahommes they'd all do it. Hell Matt Ryan should have scrambled for a TD on us. We need an end who blows tackles up a few times a game.
