wow ............ what a screen game looks like.
-
If we are playing swap meet give me Reddick, Cox, a healthy safety, and an OC who calls running plays.
-
Hurts has taken the short throw all night and made a couple deep throws count. He isn't holding it all day and throwing 15 yards down field every play.
-
and when Hurts uses play action he has all day to throw.
-
No doubt Brown is good. I'd like to think Hyde or Poyer would have been all over that but Hopkins tells me not always.
-
20 carries in the first half ..................we rarely have 20 carries in a whole game.
-
4 targets 2 catches ........... same average roughly as Davis. Live by the deep ball and die by it. Both of those throws should have been picked.
-
Eagles line are monsters.
-
Take the short throws and sometimes good things happen.
-
Crazy ............ teams actually running the ball.

Same height as Shakir but 15 pounds lighter. Had one good year. When he runs at the combine it will probably make or break him. Not sure I'd put a guy considerable smaller than Shakir on the outside. Is anyone other than Hill and Waddle playing outside at 180 pounds.

Even as I say this I will explain I do think he had some issues with not making some catches I would have liked to seen him make. That said the guys average depth of target was around 6 yards deeper than other #2 receivers. It doesn't excuse everything but it certainly does explain both how his production can be somewhat manic and also why he has more TD's than most #2 receivers you'll see.

Khalil Shakir / answer for WR 2 / Makes Sports Illustrated
Maine-iac replied to Figster's topic in The Stadium Wall
Wikipedia page had Diggs listed at a 4.46 40 and Shakir is listed at 4.43. I have since seen other times on other websites but that's what wiki listed. The point I was getting at with my original comment was that Diggs is a late round pick that plays at an elite level. Matter of fact the majority of the receiving leaders are not 1st round picks. Three out of the top five pass catchers the last two years have not been 1st round picks. Yardage wise 6 out of 10 (2021) and 5 out of 10 (2022) were not 1st round picks. You don't need elite combine stats to be a great reciever just ask Kupp, the guy runs a 4.6 something. -

He's roughly the same size as Diggs but faster. Have to see what he does on the field but size is not his problem. Waddle and Hill aren't giants. -
Bills 10 highest graded defensive players for 2022

Explain to me the exclusion of Poyer. -
I think there are multiple groups that are keeping track. The numbers you got totally could have been what one of those groups was reporting, I was just offering the rose colored numbers. Just my opinion but Davis has still got it. He needs to get routes worked in that aren't all contested catches 20 yards down the field to help his catch percentages.

Kurt Warner's "Study Ball" review of Bengals game.
Maine-iac replied to Maine-iac's topic in The Stadium Wall
Hill is gone so taking that into account like I said calling Allen and Mahommes a wash, Kelce and Diggs a wash, I just don't see Gray and his 28 catches as equal to Knox. You might get more catches from Smith and Scantling but Davis and McKenzie got 6 more TD's catching the ball. I don't see the KC backs being any better than ours from a talent standpoint. The line I'll give you. Still doesn't equal their offensive talent having that wide of a gap on us. Some solid guard play and a little more in game creativity from Dorsey/Allen I'm not at all a worried about scoring points with the Chiefs. I still don't think the Bengals were entirely responsible for stopping us. We just didn't answer what they were doing very well and I still don't think that was talent as much as coaching or decision making. -
Depending on who you reference Gabe came in 8th. If you look at the entirety of the league there are many receivers dropping as many passes. I remember Amari Cooper having trouble with drops one year with the Raiders. He's still a great receiver. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2022/receiving_advanced.htm

Kurt Warner's "Study Ball" review of Bengals game.
Maine-iac replied to Maine-iac's topic in The Stadium Wall
I honestly don't see it. Just my opinion. Diggs and Kelce are a wash and the rest of their pass catchers vs ours are a wash. Rb's are a wash. The KC line is probably a little better but again we're talking about getting the ball out quicker and not holding it and making it harder on your line when teams are bringing exotic pressure. I don't think KC's talent is SO much better than ours. -
Can I suggest we take his teammate with a later pick instead. Roschon Johnson comes in at 6'2" 220 and averaged 5.9 ypc behind Robinson. Perfect change up to all our smaller shiftier guys.

Kurt Warner's "Study Ball" review of Bengals game.

And to your point I'm not advocating check downs as much as quick passes. There are swing passes that give you a rb in space with room to make something happen that (if done right) can be very effective. The video did a good job of showing how a quick release to the flat instead of a chip would have (theoretically) produced some better results not only for a pass to the RB but in moving coverage to hit some WR's at an 8 to 15 yard level. Some in game tweaks that might have worked. I don't want whole sale changes as much as diversification.
