Washington and that kid from Princeton at WR. He could push for time outside with Davis, back up Diggs, and let Shakir run inside. Maybe they play more 12 with a 2nd TE they want on the field and let Knox actually play pass catcher? I wouldn't bet on it but just throwing it out there.
-
I don't know about the 1st round but I wouldn't mind having him on our roster. He would help in short yardage and goal line both run blocking and giving us someone who could literally just post up for a catch.
-
If we draft Washington and he puts up the same numbers as Lewis his first 5 years we drafted well. Outside of his rookie year Lewis and Knox put up almost identical numbers.
-
I agree he didn't seem like a turn on a dime route runner. I also didn't see him going that early in the draft. He wasn't even considered the best TE on his team. Those things being said his size and straight line speed would be great for running a TE down the seam or just let him go out for 6 or 7 and post up he could fall forward for another 3 pretty easy. A lot of the reason Gronk was hard to defend was his size not his route running. Gronk just caught the ball over people.

Deneric Prince late in the draft as a guy with a little more size and still seems to have some wheels. Would love to have a bigger back so Allen isn't our default short yardage guy all the time.

Can we afford Marcus Peters?
-
That's like saying he he didn't do anything more than someone who does really well. As far as moving to OT I could see why he is huge.

Anyone catch Darnell Washigton's grab. He didn't look as quick in and out of cuts as LaPorta but he looked good in the inline drills, hitting sled, and made catching look easy. Yahoo says the Bills met with him. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/baseball-mlb/darnell-washington-makes-eye-popping-one-handed-catch-during-combine-drill/vi-AA18eit8

Some of those TE's were almost the size of OL players from the SB teams era. That kid from Georgia was huge.
-
Lots of needs we could shoot to fill in the first couple of rounds. I wonder how late in the draft that Princeton kid will be around at WR.

Kupp ran what a 4.6? Route running is as more about suddenness understanding defenses and less about top speed. That's why as old as Beasley is he's probably still better at getting open than McKenzie.
-
Young and Beal in the 4.4's also and they both weight close to 250.
-
Diaby and Adebawore posted some workout warrior numbers also. Kancey was already getting lots of talk but in the NFL his size is an issue at DT. Hell if he has so many moves play him at DE.
-
I don't want another undersized DT but Kancey is impressive. He would probably be good at DE also given his pass rush tools. Diaby and Adebawore both looking like this years workout warriors.

Why is Allen all of the offense? It's not because we can't run the ball. You could argue McKenzie wasn't able to replace Beasley's production but honestly some of the reason Allen is ALL of the offense is because we at times we don't try. I also think once Miller went down, mixed with other injuries on defense, we just didn't trust the defense to make stops. By the end of the year my thinking had gone from "we can attack and defend in many ways" to "we refuse to run the ball, only throw deep, and hope to hang on with the defense". Since Allen has been here we've never shown any commitment to running the ball. I don't blame Allen for this and you don't draft a "franchise QB" thinking about your running game but that said it wouldn't hurt for the coaches to think about it more than they do. My hope would be next year our offense has a lot more targets for RB's and slot WR's and less for Davis not because he's awful but because our passing game should have more short and intermediate throws in it because they are productive. Throwing 15 yards down field (Davis's avg depth of target) on every throw is going to be very streaky and give you mixed results regardless of your WR.

Evans most famous play may have been the dropped TD against Brady in the playoffs -

............. and they draft a "high motor" DT in RD2 that weighs 285. -

Near as I can tell they think his arms are too short. Seems like he checks every box but that's what I keep hearing. -
You get one player this offseason…who is it?

Payne to play beside Jones or Marcus Peters to play across from White. Can we start a gofundme? -

This ................... some reason to be optimistic. Not sure how we get it but I'm of the idea our pass rush doesn't drop QB's like some other teams because our DT's aren't playing in the backfield as much as some other teams. If we could trade out Oliver for Payne to play beside Jones that would be a pretty formidable combination. -
How about TD's? I think the fact that he is constantly compared to 1st and 2nd round picks by many shows what a value he is. Maybe he is not a high percentage chain moving threat like Diggs but he is a threat. With his average depth of target, yards per reception, and TD's the defenses have to account for him. We don't take enough advantage in our mid and short game and that's not his fault. A good number of Gabe's targets probably should have been a swing pass or some Kelce like TE route but we don't use those. My guess is that if Diggs went down Davis would get more slants and hooks and his catch percentage would be much improved but he still wouldn't be who you'd want starting at the 1 spot. He's a good 4th round pick playing well enough to be a #2. He's not a 1st or 2nd round pick or a free agent you paid a bunch of money so as far as resources used vs production he's a pretty good value. In my opinion he's good enough I don't want to spend a 1st or 2nd round pick on WR when we have so many needs on the OL or possibly secondary. Especially when a rookie WR isn't necessarily going to get you anything more on the scoreboard. If we actually ran the ball the fact that he is a great run blocker might mean something also.

I like Edmunds and I'm sure in their minds they think there is no way we can play our defense without Edmunds but lets not forget we gave up roughly the same ppg in 2017 with Preston Brown at MLB and made the playoffs.

Again it's amazing what some quick passes and a running game will do to slow down a pass rush. If you just drop back every snap the defense knows where to find you and if you like to hold the ball for the deeper routes not only are you throwing lower percentage passes even on target you are increasing the chances your line can't block that long. I'm all for blocking it up and taking a deep shot but you have to make moving the chains easier and you have to slow down that pass rush. If you get the ball out early and move the chains 3 or 4 times the pass rush slows down.
