2018 Nathan Peterman = 2013 Jeff Tuel
Maine-iac replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Saints scored on 8 of 9 drives and the only drive they didn't score on they fumbled the ball ............ so yes it was the defense. I never said, nor would I say, that Taylor was a savior but he was good enough to win. Not when your defense gives up a score on 8 or 9 drives, 300 yards rushing, and 6 TD's. -

LOL you are going to use a game where the defense gave up 300 yards rushing and 6 TD's as your argument against Taylor? -

Yeah and look at how close the game was when the QB doesn't turn it over with 2 picks. Not to mention the D doesn't give up that 66 yard TD to Wallace and we win. Tayor is clearly light years better than Peterman. At this point that is a fact. All that said Allen looked like he has a lot of potential. If only we cared more about putting some decent pass catchers on this team. -

Tuel threw a pick in the end zone but if I remember right it was on a play where a guy who was blocked or fell down or something got into the play and made the pick. In other words the throw went to the right spot but a defender who never should have been there ended up there. All things considered Tuel wasn't that bad. To Tuel's credit he didn't set any records like most picks in a half or least number of 1st downs. -
Doesn't matter how much you restock the shelves if you can't coach offense you are just shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic. I have no problems with McD as a coach but he seems completely unable to recognize talent on the offensive side of the ball either in players or coaches.

Let's face it. McDermott broke the offense and doesn't have anyone on his staff that can fix it. To make matters worse the personal choices for offense have been less than stellar also. A good OC could patch this together but I don't think Daboll has shown any ability to turn lemons into lemonade. Gailey would screen pass the hell out of them which would help the OL and Shady would be perfect. Roman or Lynn would let Allen run RPO's and help the run game and the WR's. At the very least they would have a more disciplined group of misfits and keep the penalties down a little bit. If they could do that it would be an improvement.

You mean the same way they ignored it last year? I know I'll get flamed for it but with all the draft capital we used on Allen we could have had quality recievers and OL replacements. I like Allen, I really do, but to package that much to draft a QB who isn't even ready to step in and play under the assumption that you can coach him up is asking a lot of the coaching staff in Buffalo.

I mean it's a little about Peterman. Another unnamed QB trots out there and hangs up 3 points believe me it would be ALL about him. So don't tell me it's not about Peterman. Maybe it's not all Peterman but the QB always takes the hit. I'll be honest I had/have little faith in Daboll also. Two young QB's you need a coach who has a little more of a proven track record. Daboll has ridden Gronk's coat tails and the Alabama defense.

We were top ten in scoring both years before McDermott (and Dennison). We went from over 23 ppg to 18 ppg last year and god only knows how bad this year.
