I can't disagree but would add that too much of anything will either get him killed or be completely ineffective. The idea is to mix it up enough to stop the front 7 from attacking as much. Even when mixing it up there is a chance that the defense will guess right and get pressure. Someone posted vids of Allen's games last year and the first one I watched he took off running and got decleated. There's always a chance the QB will get hit.

I'd love to see some well executed screen passes and give Allen some RPO's. He's big and mobile like Luck or Wentz. Maybe he's not going to take off like Taylor or Jackson but look how Bortles killed us last year. Of course we want Allen to learn to throw from the pocket but we also do not want him to get killed there. Have some decent situational awareness. If you get a few first downs maybe throw in some no huddle and get them good and tired, take advantage of that. A lot of it depends on what they think Allen's command of the offense is at this point.

22 teams averaged 20 ppg or more last year according to ESPN. If we can't do better than the 23 ranked offense then he should be fired. oops 21 ........ close enough.

I personally am not judging him after that performance. I had huge doubts long before that train wreck. Notice Perry Fewell isn't a DC anywhere. You know why? Because everywhere he coached the defense's gave up a ton of points. People can like Daboll all they want. If his offenses don't score more than 20 ppg on average, hopefully significantly more, then he is going to end up a TE coach again and sooner rather than later.

Daboll was so good in Cleveland ......... no strike that. He was so good in Miami ...... wait no not there either. He was so good at ... well... coaching Gronk. If that doesn't deserve a shot destroying the highest draft pick we used on a QB in 20 years I don't know what does. McDermott already proved he can't spot talent or coach offense last year. We need a coaching staff that can coach both sides of the ball.

Isn't Pettine coaching the Packer's D this year? I think they'll show much better this year.

Not sure about Jackson but keeping our 2nd round pick and getting Rosen would have sat well with me.

Another catch that looks like our game. KB doesn't make the catch Pryor does. A few plays before the TD. I'd take at least 3 of the Jets receivers over any 1 of ours.

Now that I think about it I don't see laundry on the field every time the Jets snap the ball either. It certainly doesn't hurt if you don't shoot yourself in the foot at the start of every drive.

I agree with what everyone is saying but I think the larger story here is that the WR's we have don't make plays like that and Robbie Anderson did. The throw in both cases was less than perfect and in both cases you can't really blame the WR if they don't catch it but Anderson did and Foster didn't and that is usually the way the ball bounces in Buffalo.

Jet's seem to have more talent on offense plain and simple. We had OC's who could run the ball and get guys open deep. We went from having multiple recievers who could take the top off a defense to having a group of WR's that teams check off as a vacation day. Allen and Darnold could probably be almost interchangeable. Put Mills, Ducasse, and Miller in front of Darnold and ask him to throw to Zay and KB and I'm not sure he'd be doing as well. I still have hope Zay will come around but that is doesn't have a ton of life left. KB can't be slow and have bad hands and expect to last much longer either.

That throw to Anderson was almost exactly like the throw to Foster. Anderson reaches back and take the ball away.

I think what most would say and I wouldn't argue is that he wasn't clutch. I would trade not competitive for not being clutch any day. I am excited that maybe Allen could someday be both but I worried that we just don't have the pieces in place or the coaching and if you are going to sell me that the future will be different I'm going to need to see more than what we just witnessed from a coaching stand point to buy it.

No I feel you. I was just elaborating on that. It's frustrating because I believe worst of all this that the current front office is mediocre at best at evaluating talent. Near as I can tell is that McDermott is great on defense and specifically coverage. Probably decent with the secondary and LB's, jury is out on DL. I can't think of a move yet on the offensive side of the ball that has made me say "that was great". Allen looks like he has good potential. After that I can't think of anything.

Except he did win. He won more than he lost and he did it without a defense. Then while completely forsaking the offense, bringing in a OC that had no plans for Taylor, and supplying no help at WR they finally get the defense to hold teams under 23ppg and lo and behold they are in the playoffs. Now what they are trying to sell us is that they are/were trading everything to build some legit "franchise QB" led offense that will put points on the board and amaze us all. When? I'm not sure it's coming. Allen looks the part, or at least you might sell me on that but with no OL, no WR's, and an OC who I'm not confident in a 5 year plan isn't what I'm looking for as a NFL fan.

Correct me if I'm wrong but even with everything that's been said in here if the Browns kicker makes the field goal in OT the Browns win that game? The Browns had a chance to win. Taylor gives you a chance to win. If you had a better QB you might have a better chance to win. If you have Peterman you most likely have no chance to win. Allen is supposed to be that better chance to win. We probably should have kept Taylor as the veteran chance to win. Instead we went with Peterman and the least likely chance to win. As they say it is what it is. You have to play Allen or you'll lose the team IMHO. Think they are bad now, wait til they've been on the field with Peterman for 3 weeks.

Anyone see the catch Robinson just made? Bears vs Packers. Who do we have that makes catches like that? We need that.

Getting away from Suggs like that was pretty cool. When WR's aren't getting open the first place I blame is the OC (not always the case but it's my go to). Next what ever happened to killer screen games. Gailey used to destroy teams with the screen game and I feel like Shady could do that just as well as Spiller used to.

Dude read it. The screen shot just illustrates what I said. I never said he SHOULD have caught the ball. I just said at least the throw got there. It would have been a hard catch.

You are right. The placement could have been a little better but he did at least get the ball there. I have seen receiver make catches like that before. I guess what I'm saying is at least he gave him a chance. Another foot in front of him would have been perfect.

I think the one thing Allen gives you that there is no stat for is simply the feeling that you might score on any given play. Allen is better with his legs and has the arm to make a team pay. He's still young and he maybe doesn't see everything or move in the pocket as slick as Brady but in general you have a feeling like he could pull something at of his butt. Peterman only leaves you wondering how many throws until the next pick. It's not really stat sheet stuff but that's just how I feel comparing the two.

The Saints scored on 8 of 9 drives and the only drive they didn't score on they fumbled the ball ............ so yes it was the defense. I never said, nor would I say, that Taylor was a savior but he was good enough to win. Not when your defense gives up a score on 8 or 9 drives, 300 yards rushing, and 6 TD's.

LOL you are going to use a game where the defense gave up 300 yards rushing and 6 TD's as your argument against Taylor?

Yeah and look at how close the game was when the QB doesn't turn it over with 2 picks. Not to mention the D doesn't give up that 66 yard TD to Wallace and we win. Tayor is clearly light years better than Peterman. At this point that is a fact. All that said Allen looked like he has a lot of potential. If only we cared more about putting some decent pass catchers on this team.

Tuel threw a pick in the end zone but if I remember right it was on a play where a guy who was blocked or fell down or something got into the play and made the pick. In other words the throw went to the right spot but a defender who never should have been there ended up there. All things considered Tuel wasn't that bad. To Tuel's credit he didn't set any records like most picks in a half or least number of 1st downs.
