2022 RB Draft class looks pretty good
Maine-iac replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
Biggest thing I'd like to see as an addition to our backfield is a true short yardage back. Signed or drafted but someone who tips the scales at over 220. Singletary is great between the 20s and with a better line he might be able to find the end zone but I'd still like a power back. Even if we still throw or let Josh run on 3rd and 4 just having a bigger threat in short yardage might open up play action or we could hand it off and have someone who can actually move the pile. -

How the hell does Kenny Clark control the whole middle of the defensive line yet we have 4 guys and none of them can control any part of the line.

If you could ask McDermott a few questions...

I'd ask why all the day 1 draft picks on our d-line can't get to the QB to save their lives, then we'd both cry in our beers for a minute and go our separate ways. -
Sanders has spent most of his career in the slot so I'm not sure why he got moved into an outside spot where Davis is clearly much better. Sanders should be inside spelling Beasley and finding holes in the zone or running crossing routes. At least this is one thing they seem to have figured out.

There is a clear correlation to Singletary getting carries and the offense scoring points. I'm not saying Singletary scores the points but I am saying that it helps the passing game if you at least attempt to run the ball. That's what I have said since week 5 on and can't figure out why it doesn't happen. As far as the defense we seem to have a lack of people who hit guys hard enough to make them fall down. I feel like even the guys we currently have used to hit people and make them fall down. Lately it seems like they are just trying to grab some legs as they get run over. -

By the same token the running in the second half opened up the passing game because it slowed down the pass rush enough for Josh to get rid of the ball. -

Maybe they thought the line would get to Brady quick enough but I'm not sure what would have given them that idea. -

My other point I've beaten like a dead horse to no avail .................. in wins Singletary 73 carries and 327 yards. Losses Singletary 35 carries and 168 yards. The more carries Singletary gets the better chance we have of winning. Not because we are a great running team but because running the ball opens up the passing game more. -

Just watched Quinn turn the corner and drop Rogers. When was the last time a Bill's DE just beat his man, turned the corner and dropped the QB. -

The punt fake ............. we're down 3 scores like TB didn't think we might try a punt fake there. Why wouldn't you just try to get 2 yards with your actual offense instead of some gimmick play that the defense probably easily sniffs out. -

and that's the second time the defender is literally separating Digg's jersey from his body and no call. -

We have DE's who can't get to the QB and DT's who can't plug up the middle and stop the run (or get to the QB). Everything that happens behind them starts with that. If we actually got to the QB with our front 4 we wouldn't have so long and get burnt on passing routes that take 4 or 5 seconds to get open. If we had even one player on the DL who beat his man on a regular basis everything else would be much easier. -
Davis is probably the best run blocking WR we have also.

I'm not saying the offense doesn't run through Allen but if they don't at least give the running back 10 to 15 carries a game they are only making it easier for the defenses to stop Allen. The offense started working when they started running the ball because then the pass rush couldn't send everyone after Allen. On top of that if we are going to run the ball it should be Singletary end of story. For all that fumble talk the guy hasn't lost the ball once this year and he's better in space than anyone on this team and knows how to block as well. -

I don't think it matters. Don't have to do it well but you have to do it. -

My two problems with this team as it is now .................. run and stop the run. For the love of god run the ball more. The second half of this game and most of the Saints game are just the latest examples of running it vs not running it. The less we run it the worse it gets and I literally cannot figure out how they can't see that. -

I'm not sure anyone has touched Brady this half. Milano rolled under him after he threw the ball and that's as close as it's been. -

I bet our DLine doesn't even know what Brady smells like. He's not even breaking a sweat back there.
