Is there a precedent for developing a low-percentage QB?
Xerx replied to finn's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
These takes are legitimate! He only threw the ball 25ish times a game, a lot of vertical stuff, intermediate stuff. They didn't run a lot of the stuff that leads to high completion rates, he wasn't throwing screens etc Not what he was asked to do in that offense. Let's see how he does in the Bills system. He's the opposite of Tyrod, he'll chuck it into those tighter windows and give his guys a change to make plays -
Ten Reasons to Not Get QB Drunk in the Draft
Xerx replied to Irv's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tom Brady is the outlier, not the norm Saying that is akin to saying...I don't need to save for retirement, I'll just get lottery money -
THAT'S A HARD NO

Buffalo to jump on cap casualty players?
Xerx replied to The Now Moment's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Absolutely- if you have a player on the roster that could slide right that spot already SEE: New England trading LB Jamie Collins and then still winning a SB. He's a hell of a lot better player than the scrubs we kept. This x100 But I'd be happy just knowing I won't need to ever see Mike Tolbert split out wide on a 3rd and 4 again...EVER -
Bills offense ranks 29th, Defense 7th
Xerx replied to Teddy KGB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Easy, it's sorted by MOST yards allowed. -
Bills offense ranks 29th, Defense 7th
Xerx replied to Teddy KGB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They rank 7th alright... 7th MOST yards allowed. -
I'm with the OP I don't give a damn about next season yet. A CHANCE...WE HAVE A CHANCE TO GET IN I WANT TO GET EXCITED ABOUT WILD-CARD WEEKEND. I'm tired of the not good enough, blah blah blah. Get in, end the drought, have some excitement around a playoff game. Anyone hoping we don't make it or depressed into thinking it's a loss before it happens shouldn't be watching sports. ANYTHING can happen. Period.

Those guys aren't who I'd want on the field, but with a clipboard and a presence in the QB meeting rooms. I'd take them every single day of the week over Tyrod in mentoring a rookie QB, just based on Tyrod doesn't do the things we want to be taught. When to throw it away, reading a defense pre-snap etc. Tyrod isn't good at these things at all.

IF and I think it's more of a WHEN we draft a QB this year. I believe it's best for the Franchise to just move completely away from TT. I don't think he's the guy I want the rookie learning from, bring in a savvy veteran type, the backup guy whose hung around for 15years because he understand concepts, reads etc, just can't execute or is weak armed or something. Seriously, I'd rather the rookie learning from a far less physically gifted QB if that guy is far superior in the X and O's. Bring in Josh McCown, Alex Smith, Matt Cassel, Matt Schaub, are all better options than Tyrod for a guy to learn from. Tyrod is so unique of a talent, he can't teach guys things.

This stat has nothing to do with short of the chains etc. It's literally "Aggressiveness tracks the amount of passing attempts a quarterback makes that are into tight coverage, where there is a defender within 1 yard or less of the receiver at the time of completion or incompletion. AGG is shown as a % of attempts into tight windows over all passing attempt" I'm picking this one stat, because you singled it out as he's 32nd!!! Like that's a bad thing with this stat and it's really not. Top of the list guys tend to be crap quarterbacks with tons of interceptions and known for poopy play. I agree with you, it's time to move one. We don't need to falsify and claim bad stats to prove it either. It's not his AGG% that's the problem, we can see that watching the games or any game not involving Tyrod. It's is inability to hit guys in the "pockets" between defenders when they are open. This has nothing to do with the AGG% stat.
-
I've supported and cheered for Tyrod and still will until he's no longer a Bill, but I'm ready for a new quarterback. But let's not spew riduculousness -To further highlight this point, there is a metric called "Aggressiveness/AGG%" where Tyrod is ranked 32nd. Aggressiveness rating is defined as "the amount of passing attempts a QB makes that are into tight coverage, where there is a defender within 1 yard or less of the receiver at the time of completion or incompletion. AGG is shown as a % of attempts into tight windows over all passing attempts." He's in the same area range in that stat as the top QB's...If you are near the top of the AGG% board, you are a most likely a TERRIBLE QB. This tight window BS is ridiculous, you want QB hitting OPEN receivers. You shoudn't need to force throws into tight windows anymore than 15-18% of the time. Anything above that is terrible decisions, poor receiver seperation and bad schemes. 2016 https://nextgenstats.nfl.com/stats/passing/2016/all He's in the same area of the chart as the Brees, Roesthlesberger, Rodgers, Brady's of the world... 2017 https://nextgenstats.nfl.com/stats/passing/2017/all Again same are of the chart as the top QB's Tyrod doesn't throw to guys who are open in the seams or on the outside is the issue. This stat does not show that It's not tight windows per se, it's the into space windows. He can't hit a TE with passes over a LB head and before the Safety in the seams, anticipation throw into the window. The window is large, it's just there for a limited amount of time. It's all being ON TIME with the BALL Last thing I want is a QB forcing throw after throws into coverage. Unless it's to Benjamin (who we've not had very long) no receiver on this team has shown ANY ability to catch a contested ball ever.

The “Billsiest” way for the season to end
Xerx replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm going completely opposite; Here is THE DREAM scenario Ravens win out - Finish 10-6 Chiefs win out - Finish 10-6 Titans win out - Finish 11-5 Steelers win out - Finish 14-2 Jaguars go 2-1 - Finish 11-5 Patriots Lose out - Finish 10-6 Bills win out - Finish 10-6 Bills win AFC East with Tie Breakers over the Pats Titans win AFC South with Tie Breakers over The Jags Ravens claim 6th seed with tie breakers over the Pats Patriots MISS playoffs ENTIRELY Steelers and Titans get Byes Wild-Card Games Ravens @ Bills (Bills win) Jaguars @ Chiefs(Jags win) Divisional Round Bills @ Titans (Bills win - reverse the Music City Miracle) Jags @ Steelers ( Jags win) AFC Championship Jags @ Bills (Marrone and Dareus Return) Like I said - DREAM SCENARIO -
Apparently the offense is holding Tyrod back
Xerx replied to Gavin in Va Beach's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That right there is nail on the head. Dennison has shown ZERO ability to create mismatches, get players in positions that best suit the talents they do have. As an OC, you can't run the same "plays" with Tolbert in the game as you do with Shady, but Dennison does. You CAN run the same alignment, movement, etc, but the actual playcall needs to be suited to the player in the game. -
Is anyone here really a Tyrod fan?
Xerx replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
LMAO, definitely not whomever the heck jm2009 is.. I couldn't tell you any of that, didn't watch EJ play this season. EJ used to do it fairly frequently, if you remember it or not is of no concern of mine -
Is anyone here really a Tyrod fan?
Xerx replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm a fan of Tyrod. I'm a fan of limited turnovers I'm a fan of his exciting plays I'm a fan of not killing wide receivers (remember EJ) I'm a fan of not throwing picks forcing everything when behing (remember Fitz) I'm a fan of giving all you have (remember Orton sliding on 2yrds short of sticks on 4th down) I'm a fan in the way he handles all the BS he's been through with absolute class. I'm a fan of Tyrod Yes, he has limitations. EVERYONE has limitations. I'm not focused on what he "CAN'T" do and I focus on what HE CAN do. What he CAN DO isn't terrible, it's way better than what we've had and could be way better than his replacement. It could be worse, I for one and tired of the WORSE. I don't want to go back to the WORSE. -
Lawson was Benched, was he another first round bust?
Xerx replied to Kingston Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The player isn't a bust. He's a serviceable player right now. Was he drafted too high for his play? (so far) - Absolutely. That's not on the player, he's not a bust, that a busted pick, that's on Whaley. Fans may expect more from him because he was a "1st" rounder, that's not exactly fair. That's on the scouts and GM for poor evaluation on his potential impact. So yes, to answer the OP question. He's a first round bust (currently) -that's on Whaley -
You mean the FB position that has been eliminated by most teams in the league to get more "SKILLED" players on the field and spread things out? That's skilled to you? Wait a second? Is that you RICO?
-
Everyone keeps tossing that first INT on DiMarco... 1. It hit his hands should catch it- this applies to SKILL PLAYERS 2. DiMarco IS NOT a SKILL player 3. That was a throw that needed touch, floated ahead of, not lasered at his forhead. 4. We can blame Dennison for having DiMarco on the field, but you need to recognize who you are throwing the ball too as well. 5. That WAS NOT ALL on DiMarco...he's not paid to catch passes (thankfully)

I don't even know how this is a question... Seriously, does anyone believe Peterman gives the Bills a better chance at winning Sunday in Arrowhead? Really believe that? 5-5, still "in the hunt" Owe it to the players in the room that got sold on "win now and the future". Tyrod Haters are like the Rico's and Rex's of the world, believe their is one way to play the game, their way. Only thing they know. If the QB doesn't play they way they believe the QB position should be played, they hate him. Tyrod has his warts for sure, but he's also proven to be capable of winning games, not losing games and directing a top-10 offense. Stop trying to fit his round peg into your square closed mind. See the uniqueness of this talent and abilities. We should be building around his strengths, focusing on them, exact same as the OL needs to be running a scheme that fits their strength and down the line. Why Tyrod needs to fit a bad scheme for him because you haters feel that's the only way to play the position is mind boggling.

Bills will likely be thin at RB in Sunday
Xerx replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tolbert not being able to play means I will not get mad at my TV when he gets split out wide on 3rd and long. -
Nice! I was looking at going to this game for a couple years, then they moved to LA and screw that, I wanted to go to San Diego. Maybe they'll move back

First off, I have supported Taylor, just like I would support and hope for greatness out of any Quarterback we are playing at the time. His play can be exciting and frustrating at the same time. I believe he has merit as a starting quarterback in the league, he's better than some of the other chopped liver starting around the league But for that success, he 100% needs a specific system designed for him, this in itself is a weakness. I want my teams coaches to build systems around the skill set of the players and to draft/acquire players that fit the system they run. It's a double edged sword. The question becomes "Is this player GOOD enough to alter my system for?" Based on what we've seen, had tend to think this coaching staff doesn't believe Taylor is good enough to do that for. So here we are starting the Peterman era? I'm ANXIOUS to see him play in meaningful football, just like any new quarterback we've sent out there, MAYBE HE IS THE ONE? Start to think about that, and the possibilities of him being the one and I get super EXCITED. I'm also TERRIFIED for the possibility that he stinks the joint up. What happens if he's terrible and we lost bad the next few weeks and offense is putrid? How are the players in the room going to handle this? Tyrod seems to be respected in that room, has a few very strong supporters. How does the "PROCESS" look if a move this HUGE backfires? This is more than a QB change, the entire "buying in" to the process is being put to the test right here and now. Veteran players see themselves at 5-4 right now, in a playoff spot. A spot many have never seen, this backfires on McDermott and I'm not sure how he's going to keep the doubt from forming in his own room. I'm hoping for the best, not only for Peterman and this season, but for this staff. 9-games in and in my eyes this coaching staff just made the move that will decide if this regime will be here for the "process" to work. This backfires and it's a tough road back.

Unsure What The Problem Is? Spin the Wheel and Find Out!
Xerx replied to BadLandsMeanie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I spun 10x Rick Dennison Rick Dennison Lack of Talent Rush Defense Rookie Head Coach Reliance on Turnovers Lack of Talent Rick Dennison Lack of Talent Rick Dennison The wheel seems to think it's Lack of Talent and Rick Dennsion, I'm going to combine the two and blame on Rick Dennison's Lack of Talent to playcall. If I see Tolbert lined up wide again, I might smash my TV
