About Gronk joke talking about unretiring...
ricko1112 replied to KollegeStudnet's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We Pats fans are expecting him to come back around Thanksgiving. I believe he'll only play for NE. BB was entertaining trading him to Detroit at one point, but Gronk made it clear that he'd retire rather than play for any other team. Once a player retires, they remain the "property" of that team for the duration of the contract. BTW, Gronk has yet to cash a single game check from NE. $$ isn't what drives him. It's winning. The "shell" of Gronk is still a top 5 TE in the NFL. Just as a "declining" TB12 is still a top 5 QB. At least for 2-3 more years. Gronk has not cashed a single game check yet. I'm not making this up. He's got millions to spare. -

#1 Pats, #2 Bills, #3 Jets, #4 Dolphins The only question is if the Bills get a WC. They may need to get to 11 wins. That's gonna be extremely difficult because according to the "experts" NE, KC, LAC, INDY, HOU, PITT, CLE, and BAL are all going to make the playoffs. And yes, I know I listed 8 teams. Only to highlight the absurdity of the words of the clowns so many people take as fact... -
That's not true at all. Someone was still peddling the "sex trafficking/sex slave" lie. I simply posted the truth. You're the one that started the other stuff. Not me. I'm not going to start anything on another team's site. In fact, I think overall that I've been pretty positive/neutral with most of my posts. I don't even comment on the over the top goofiness that the more immature posters spout. You guys do a good job calling them out. However, that first post was a blatant, slanderous lie. My response to you was more of a good natured ribbing than a mocking post. Besides, Brady won't be around more than 9 or 10 years...

Jeez, and not long ago a praised people on this site for being more savvy than Jets' fans... First, let's get the nonsense portion of your post out of the way. The Ravens play was NOT illegal. The only person unaware of what was happening was Harbaugh. Common play. It was made illegal the year after, but that didn't stop Harbaugh from trying to use it twice. Spygate was simply the location of the camera. It's not against the rules to tape your opponent, their signals, or their sidelines. Never has been. Glazer used to show the tapes at parties. Mostly pictures of pretty women in the stands. Tuck Rule, while a stupid rule, was called correctly. It was still a rule for years after that playoff game. It was also used AGAINST the the Patriots that same year when they played the Jets. Soooo... -------- Now, yes, the RTP was bogus when seen in slow motion. At real speed, from the ref's angle, he has to make the call. This is a clear example why BB has been lobbying to make EVERYTHING reviewable. But, since it's his idea it won't fly. He also wanted cameras in the end zone pylons, but it was shot down. The next year Harbaugh suggested it and guess what happened? There is a replay angle clearly showed the ball not hitting Edelman. Case closed. Don't forget that the year before, Hogan's catch would have been called incomplete. Do you know why it was complete this year? Because (against NE) Jesse James of the Steelers had the same thing happen to him. The rule was changed the year before because it benefitted NE and people were up in arms! The rule was changed for just that reason, but now it helps NE and the same people are pulling out their feathers again. As far as Felger, his nickname in NE is "Douchebag." He's one of those who hate any success the local teams have. He rants about everything and what a horrible coach and GM BB is. He does the same for the Sox, Celts, and Bruins. I'm sure you have the same type of idiots up there too. I was reading some people complaining about Fatso someone, I think. Rule changes because the old rule helped the Patriots: - illegal contact because of the Colts' Charmin soft receivers couldn't play physical. - we mentioned the motion because Harbaugh didn't know the rules. - jumping over the o-line to block FGs and PATs - Jesse James' catch that wasn't, but now is. You mentioned that one too. - now the NFL wants to monkey with the OT rules again because of the way NE beat the Falcons and Chiefs. If they had lost those games you know this would never have been entertained. I liked the old sudden death rule. I thought most Bills' fans were above falling for the "NE cheating" BS that B$PN spews. www.yourteamcheats.com

Yuck... If the initial sting had merit, there is no way law enforcement would have allowed the sting (where women and underaged girls would have been trafficked and forced into sexual slavery) to go on for months and months... Don't forget, he also kissed his 6th Lombardi trophy. I mean, you know how it is when your team wins the Super Bowl... Oops! Sorry! I guess you don't...

I might have read the first part of your statement wrong (or maybe it was a joke) and if I did, I apologize. The DA and sheriff admitted weeks ago that there was no human trafficking or sex slaves. There never was and they knew it from the start. If not for Kraft fighting the charges (yes, we're all pretty sure he got the tugs) the law would still be holding possible trafficking charges over the heads of everyone. Now, as a Patriots' fan, I'm disappointed (most of us are) that Kraft continues to fight the soliciting charges, assuming there actually is a video. Even though everything was consensual, it's still against the law in Florida. He took a simple misdemeanor that would have been long forgotten about and has dragged it out. Still, this does absolutely nothing to tarnish his legacy as a humanitarian and a philanthropist. Most of us have to pay for dinner and a movie to get what Kraft got. He just cut out the middleman.

Why do people take party buses to football games and arrive hours early is to get plastered. Then they go into the stadium hammered, puking, and wanting to fight. Some even bring little pink effigies of Roger Goodell and toss them onto the field. How is that fun for anyone who has to sit around these bozos? Yes, it seems to be far more common in Buffalo, but certainly happens everywhere.

MMQB Draft winners and losers: Bills are... both?
ricko1112 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
NE consistently picks at the end of the 1st round and most others. What they do is trade picks for players often on the cheap because teams don't know how to use them (Van Noy), players trying to revitalize their careers and dupe some team into giving them crazy $ (Revis, Trent Brown), and players at the end of their careers that want to win a ring. This happens year after year. Their drafts aren't great, but they get enough hits in the very good/good range. Not many players in that category make the Pro Bowl or get recognized as individuals. -

Giants select in the first round ...
ricko1112 replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Since everyone is excited about this Giants thread, I think that trading OBJ and getting good compensation was a great move. They won't be good enough to win for a few more years and OBJ's antics were becoming buffoonish. The party boat in Miami before the biggest game of his career then running around Lambeau shirtless in the freezing cold (he stunk), the kicking net incidents, Josh Norman punking him (resulting in Coughlin getting fired), and the urinating move. Too bad they game him all that $ the year before... It's baffling that they went out and overpaid for Golden Tate right after that though. Their talent level is still too high. With no QBs worth taking at #6 defense should be the focus. They just need to be careful not to end up in the 7-9, 8-8, or 9-7 range because they won't be able to ever get the QB they've needed for the last few years. Now let's go over to the Giants' board and talk about the Jets. -

This is too funny! -
That's why I made the distinction between RG3's and Kap's good seasons and Mahomes awesome season. That way no one would get confused... The point was that those 2 were heralded to be the next great QBs in the NFL, yet they fell off the Earth because neither was nearly as good as many people thought. Therefore, we should wait to see if Mahomes can duplicate his success.
-
Let's pass judgement after we see what Mahommes does this season. I'm sure there have been plenty of QBs that had a good (in this case awesome) early season and then... RG3 and Krap come to mind, but I'm sure there are many, many others.

Rob Gronkowski Dents Lombardi Trophy with Bunt

Giants will be picking defense at #6, not a QB. They may take a QB later, but Gettleman has said that Eli is still the guy to lead the Giants to 4-12. They aren't high on any of the higher ranked QBs this year. Jones has been linked to the Pats though. Garoppolo has been the only QB BB has ever drafted to replace Brady. JG was pretty good in NE in those couple games before Kiko pile drove his shoulder into the turf. Still, who knows what BB will do next week?

Bills have 3rd easiest schedule (based on roster?)
ricko1112 replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're kidding, right? The schedule is set (at least 14 of the 16) games anyway due to a set formula. You can look years and years down the road and know who your team will play. Then because NE won the division, they play 2 division winners. -

ricko1112 replied to stosh64's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lost on many folks is that a team actually needs to win a Lombardi before their players can dent it... Besides, they have 5 others... -
I think that signing OBJ had a lot to do with it along with some other decent signings and a good QB. They've been worse than the Bills, but they are fueled by hype and national love from "experts." The Bills have neither national love nor hype. And, honestly, outside of Buffalo do people have any optimism that Allen will develop into a franchise QB? That's not a judgement, but from an outsider's perspective 10 TDs, 12 INTs, 2074 yards (only 173 ypg), and a 68 rating isn't good. Could it be his rushing that gets people excited?
-
When you're washed up, you're washed up... Still, they realize that if they can't succeed with TB12 as your QB, they're probably done. Decker and Wayne for instance. There are more examples of successes than failures though as far as FA signings. He can't draft WRs in the first couple rounds though. Late rounds sure.
-
Not all receivers are willing to work as hard as they need to or are smart enough to succeed in NE. I think if you were to look at the list of receivers who have had success in NE, but failed once they moved on, you would find it more impressive.

A few years ago, Jim Irsay was pulled over for DWI. He was arrested, cuffed, and transported to jail. He was charged with a couple of felonies regarding controlled substances. He had several hundred oxy pills in his car as well as $29K in cash in small bundles in several paper bags. There was also a dead woman found dead of an overdose in his condo. For committing felonies, Irsay was fined $500K and suspended 6 games. For 2 misdemeanors Kraft should receive much less...
