And I get it - I do. I guess I just look at it more in the sense of punting gives the refs an oppertunity to control your fate. Conversley, the boot and kick offered 2 chances for us to control our own fate - both of which the odds were better than not it was successful. The fact S hit the fan and neither things were successful were longer odds than the Giants actually winning. I guess my biggest argument is whether warranted or not, that extra 20 yrds you gain on a punt could be negated in 3 sec with a DPI. Thats what put them at the 1 and it could have happened from anywhere. that 20 yrds cld also be eaten up in 1 of these 'prevent' D plays we run. We had QUALITY chances to ice it ourselves and didnt. If it wasnt quality, I'm with you. but even if each oppertunity had a 51% chance- I'd wanna take it. Bc if you stack both those, odds are we get it done ourselves. As with many other things that evening, it didnt go our way and now we are having this conversation -

While what you say makes complete sense and I often agree with your posts, in this instance I was speaking in generalities and specifics. That is to say, often a criticism of McD is he should have gone for it, or as they were saying on the radio this am (whether you like the am show isnt the point- its Bills football talk) how McD had been on the right side of being agressive as it pertains to what analytics say when compared to the best decision towards win %, but they have been waning. So often we will see people come on here and whine about they should be more agressive. The same as when they dont run people complain they should have a run game and when they do - they should be passing more. Now, as that pertains to this situation, if you want them to be aggressive (which I do because Id much rather he coach with that style more than less), the chances are very high that your elite QB will hit an easy throw on an excellent designed play OR your kicker who entered the game 9/9 on the year will hit a FG in his range are excellent. The first didnt happen and then the odds were defied as neither did the 2nd. Id much rather take those swings and end the game on our terms than leave stuff up to chance. A little more food for thought... there is a high probability that the Giants go fishing for a DPI penalty. The 20ish yard difference then becomes a moot point bc itll just be lost in the penalty. Thats actually what happened anyway and Im not sure how much 20 yrds wlda helped. We went right into the 'keep the ball infront of you' as we would have done had they been further back and there was plenty of time. You take a chance the refs decide it, your D blows it etc. We had that game in front of us to win on our terms and statistically, both of those shots we took were high % shots. We just happened to come up empty each time. I feel like most of the time in the league there is a 50/50 chance for someone to win a game, its the O that comes out over the D. Just in the same way Id want the ball down 2 pts with 60 sec left than up 2 and have to go on D. As to your Allen isnt accurate on the run... I disagree. Watch him throw that ball. He 110% pussyfooted it. He just kinda laid it in to ensure it wasnt incomplete and in doing so got away from how he usually throws and let up too much. Knox still had it, did the tought part, and then somehow lost it on the way back up. In the end I suspect you will disagree because you prefer them not being agressive. Thats totally cool as I know you wont flip flip as in my aforementioned example. Its ok to disagree in this sense bc i think its based in fundamentals -

Hopefully this puts to bed (like the BB/BF text chat should have) the talk of Daboll coming back here if and when he gets canned to take back his old job. Besides the fact people wanted to fire him the same people do KD now, that relationship seemed unattainable and destined for a breakup regardless. Heck, they prob thgt it was happening the year prior -
Surely you could have found one of the 10x other threads this wld have fit in, no?

Dont be that guy. Had this have worked, no one ever wld have questioned it. You either want your team to be agressive or you dont. The bad look is complaining abt it after the fact. Id hope 80% of coaches make that call. I'm also happy ours is in the majority of that 80% -
We need another weapon...and dorsey is a tool
gobills1212 replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall
Football has all types of 'fans' and for whatever reason, that type likes to come here and wear their keyboards out after anything less than an amazing game. To each their own, but at the detriment to the people with a clue. -
No, but it didnt need to be that bad. If there was a bad break to be had - we had it. Part of the issue was I didnt even understand what it is you were saying, but its just so easy to blame the QB or OC. There may be problems here, but we dont win a qtr of the games we do without josh - who is only to blame for making so many people jaded.
-
No judgment here. You asked a question - I answered. Cheers

Sssoooo.... its just devolved into calling guys tools? As the Jets game proves, all the guy can do is call plays he thinks will put them into a good position. If the execution is poor, then he looks like a 'tool'. Does work need to be done? I assume so. He followed up the worst call (shotgun to a rb from the 1) with the best call and redeemed himself there. But at the end of the day, I consider myself a relatively aware football fan, but know that the success of the OC cant just be judged by the result of a play we see. Many times the play doesnt work. I just hope youve actually put in the work to make the assessment you claim here and as you are calling the guy a tool... well Im going to guess thats a no -
The guy who posted a pic on this same page 10 posts up...for starters

Maybe hes been reading your posts and is as lost as the rest of us?

To any actual intelligent fan - that answer is obvious and has been discussed ad nauseum though this. Its the 'fans' who feel otherwise. When logic and common sense are applied, of course he isnt. Sadly, some people just dont get it. No one was this stupid during the drought. Its funny what winning does and how it brings out the silly takes. But silly posts like this are the result of those same 'fans' who (regardless of the situation) get upset bc for them, its SB or bust. Of course, thats the goal, but most people understand an NFL season never goes the way you want and expect. Its not a perfect world, but they choose to view it that way. Its the same people who thought QB1 was washed or had fooled the world the last 3 yrs after week 1. To most people its crazy... but its scarey how many of these people actually exist

There are times when I wonder what an offensive coach would bring, but generally when you replace someone who is perceived to not get over the hill - it turns into a grass is always greener situation and it doesn't end well. Respectfully, im glad you are in the minority and the stability McD has brought has allowed the team to be successful. Most people see its because of that, not inspite of that. Lucky for us, the only person it really matters to sees and knows this.

I feel like this is the OP under an alt handle. Gotta be. The odds of this are that of someone who wins the lotto 2x. If thats not the case, i feel like you two need to go have a beer. We will let you know how the season ends!

Hopefully your posting privileges are on the hot seat after a stinker like this.

Ugh.. Cheerful 'ra ra' Bills employee. Not a fan. That said, youd know that and everyone elses opinion by reading the existing super long topic on her....

Kyle Orton: Why doesn't he get a little ex-Bill love?
gobills1212 replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall
I laugh each year the Orton cigar photo pops up on my FB feed from XX yrs ago. Sadly, he was in such preservation mode at the end after knowing he was going to retire, I think the phantom sacks kinda washed away what he was able to do here. In the end, even though I like the dude and even have one of hos game worn jerseys - he was just the anti-Manuel. He would sling it and take chances EJ wouldnt. He was a very poor mans Fitz and even poorer mans Favre. Dude just slung it and at the time it was a breath of fresh air -
Fan Duel Cold Night In Buffalo Commercial

Its funny, I thought that as well last week and googled it, but there was no credit anywhere for Goodman. The only place Ive been able to find confirmation is the youtube video where someone asks in the comments and FD answers yes. It sure sounded like him, but every once in a while you get a voice that sounds like someone else so you cant be sure. Gotta watch out for the knock off Morgan Freemans out there!
