  1. Someone has had a game used AFL throwback on ebay for months. Poor guy cant even get 80 bucks for it...
  2. His are funny, i agree - the champion ones were TINY. His later year ones however like his Logo Athletics are HUGE. He changed to tucking them in but in a very baggy style. IMO, changes like that are one of the things that makes collecting old gamers fun. Each one was different where are now with nike, everything is so uniform they all look the same. One of the reasons i miss the old days where teams chose a supplier to outfit them rather than a league wide contract.
  3. Someone just listed a champion font correct period authentic Christie jersey on ebay. Decent price to!
  4. I wish the new ones were more in the spirit of the old ones articulation wise but for a throwback product, beggers cant be choosers! I thought it was cool that even after kelly retired we got a jimbo in the classic doubles w Aikman and even an Ames exclusive!...which was oddly in the running pose:)
  5. Nice! I remember trying to trade for this back in the day! As i mentioned, the Norwoods were tough - the 87 white port hole mesh gamer cost me $500 and luckily the 89 Pro Bowl Norwood gamer was a little cheaper at $300 but im not sure the seller knew what it was. Anywho, i tried finding your info but couldnt bc i wanted to tell you that if you ever want the correct font 'sand knit house' font on that bad boy, or even champion to keep w the 89 theme hit up Bison Logo. Dude can match the material and font to a T. Screen printing is a lot art but he nailed my 86 port hole mesh sand knit kelly rookie tv numbers and plate. He does excellent work!! Nice to see ya on here!!! I was sad the Kelly Gamblers gamer got taken out in the 2nd rd:)
  6. WwwaaaYyyyyy too many. Now the SLU trademark is owned by a company in tampa who makes them for SGAs. I remembered how cool it was waiting for the checklists each year when i was a kid. They used to always make the stars and then in later years just cherry picked 1 or 2 players from each team. The blue and gold sabres were cool from 94/95 - lafontaine, fuhr, hasek, and mogilny. Anyway, im proud to say that once I saw the company that did the SGAs were around I pitched the idea to my boss and he had me get in touch with them to get the specs and they ended up doing a Eichel in partnership with the Sabres. It made me smile knowing the 1st SLU in Buffalo in over 20 yrs was indirectly my idea:)
  7. i spent years hunting down my Beebe, Conlan, Norwood, Todd Collins, Mohr, Christie, Hull. Hansen and Ritcher. Pics are on IG at @yellowsub73 Some of these gamers are tough to find - but they are out there!! Sadly for retail Mitchell and Ness just make the hits. Before being purchased by Reebok, they made a nice Joe Cribbs, Throwback Kelly, OJ, and Joe D. Then they came out with the super bowl 25 kelly, thurman, and reed but the fonts were messed up so they cancelled them and redid them 2 years later along with a kelly, Bruce, and thurman blue 1994. They make a kelly, reed, Thurman, and bruce LEGENDS series that are more low end that are the 90s colors but the style and fonts arent like anything the Bills ever used. Sand Knit made retail authentics for #55, #12, #83 until 1988 and then Champion made authentics for Kelly, Reed, Bruce and Thurman until 1996. Once in a while you see authentic odd balls that were ordered from a mail away catalog but MOST from that era come from local stores that had blank champion or red fox that would sew on numbers of whoever you wanted. Not accurate as they were screened, but still there. Puma and Logo Athletic Flutie, Moulds, Johnson, Brown, and Collins had the retail authentic jerseys until they gave way to Reebok Bledsoes, Henreys, Moulds and Evans. Bassically any star a team had, you can find retail authentics. We had so many qbs that you can find authentic retail Holcombs and VanPelts too. My work recently bought a HUGE collection of Bills stuff from a former employee who recently retired. Hundreds of jerseys as well as hundreds of pants, hats, wall pictures from before the remodel, stadium signs, flags, helmets, shoulder pads, cleats, shirts, thousands of gloves, hats, shirts, game balls, presentation balls, even the logo from the old locker room carpet! BUT, back on topic, the jerseys - all gamers from 1990 to 2016 or so and the names are just amazing to remember. I had a blast doing the inventory. Anywho, because the Bills never have a year end garage sale like most teams- we are going to have one! So, there will be an influx of odd ball Bills jerseys out there this year. Now, some gamers fit like a tube - but most people can fit in a Jerry Ostrowski with no issues:)
  8. Off to fly a kite! Oh, there's a preseason game on? Is Allen playing? No? Ok is TJax playing? No? Lets go fly that kite...
  9. I always thought it was pretty cool when Tops and Wegmans sold the DVD for a year or so in the early 2010s. They must have sold a ton of those, as games like that are no doubt popular and people will pay $15 for something that pulls their heart strings and gives them great memories!! On a side note, it used to be really neat to try and catch stuff like that on TV. Now with so many ways to watch so many old games its kinda lost its specialness imo
  10. Really? How do you not just see this is filler? PFT is great at taking small point and added comments people say and then blowing them up, losing the context, and making it its own story - much in the same way you have posted it here. Appreciate the thought, but there was zero reason to click that link if one values their time.
  11. Lol. It was funny then - but why is this a thing to repost a year later?
  12. Ask the dude who knows more than Chris Brown. Im sure hed be happy to tell ya!! Just a guy people recall fondly from the SB era. Never screwed anything up, and is the poster child for hustle while chasing down Lett. Legend is a bit much, but Topps has a series they call HOMETOWN HEROES that features the guys who were more role players than the superstars - which Bebee has been in and that, Id say, fits him to a T.
  13. So... this is a round about way of saying you should be on the radio? You know more than CB? Sometimes life is about who you know! If it was simply as simple as the above, congrats? Color me impressed!!! Lol Ive seen a lot of misplaced complaints, hate, and jealousy on here - but this might take the cake! SOMETIMES people with extreme intelligence have trouble in other areas such as social skills etc.... hhhmmmmm....
  14. Dig Beez and the all blue. Much better than the EJ blue sleeves on white jersey. All blues get a lot of hate - i personally dont mind it. Itd be interesting to see the red pants tossed in somewhere else. Cool to see the NFL 100 collars too!
  15. Weak sauce... we bicker amongst ourselves and have blind optimism like the best of em!!
  16. Listen Johnny Sr, ya gotta let it go!! Its been 3 years!!!
  17. Its a tricky thing, and a slippery slope. On days im not playing im umpiring and the difference in kids and parents in the last 5 years is shocking. For example, if a pitcher keeps hitting a corner - im going to give it to him. Im impressed when a kid see it for a called strike, shakes his head, learns from it and when he gets the same pitch he goes w/it and drives it to oppo field. Its scary how many kids will B word about the 1st one and then watch the same thing 2x and complain about the entire AB rather than adjusting. On a seperate note, the parents. Younger and younger they get more and more involved in a bad way. The worst are the ones (that the coach has obviously cultivated the atmosphere) when the coach is timid but the parents complain about EVERY pitch, call, play. Im behind the plate but johnnys dad had a better view of if it was outside 175 ft down the right field line.... and then we wonder where the kids get it from. Its just disgusting, and it makes you appreciate it kids who do it the right way. The snotty kid used to be the outlier, now its reverse. Obviously this isnt what the article was about as the Marinavich way has changed a lot through the years and this is a morphing of that - but even parents who dont think they affect they way their kid plays the game hc they arent hands on to that degree should look at it a little differently IMO
  18. So, what you are saying is you decided to read some pretty common knowledge and in turn let us know it made you feel warm and fuzzy? Got it
  19. They change them on each, and sometimes the factory makes a run of errors as well. Sometimes they get shipped out like normal, other times they head straight to marshalls or burlinton. My work bought out all the closeout reeboks in 2010 when they switched to the new style. We ordered them to be screened to stevie and freddie. When they showed up, reebok had accidently made the number outline red rather than blue. What can ya do? I still chuckle when i see those at games or thrift shops. Nike has 'game' replicas that are similar to the cut of baseball jerseys for $100. Then they have the limited/vapor for $150-$175. Lastly, they have the $300 elite which are the same materials as onfield jerseys but are cut different. These either have smaller numbers (from nfl shop) or larger #s with thick outlines for tv that the ones that originate from the Bills themselves that are generally autographed (as explained in my other post earlier in the thread). They also have sublimated low end color rush replicas which are around $85. The 'game' jerseys are trash imo. Id much prefer 1988- 2011 jerseys as far as replicas are concerned. That wont ever change though, or at least as long as nike has the license. Pro Tip #2, if you dislike the aforementioned nike game jerseys, nfl shop has NFL EQPT brand on their web sites that closer resemble how replicas used to be - the actual 'jersey' style that the packers still currently wear. They look sharp, but arent NIKE so if that important to you, your SOL. If not, that might be the best way to go
