The chatter around the Worthy trade isn't rational
Rock-A-Bye Beasley replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
I was being a little bit facetious because I don’t think Coleman will be great. But at the heart of it is I don’t believe the Bills got the guy they wanted. Fans keep saying that but it’s obviously not true. They liked a handful of guys and were willing to miss out on Coleman as long as one of them was still there. That makes more sense based on their actions. If Coleman was their guy trading down was reckless -

If Coleman gets 7 for 100 and 2TD then I'm upset we didn't just take him at our original pick. The trade down is a lose-lose. Why risk losing out on Coleman AND guarantee KC gets who they want? edit: unless the compensation is significant. Which it was = 6th round pick -

Here's where I'm at with the Worthy pick trade. Full disclosure: I wanted them to draft him. So if the Bills stay at their original pick and draft Coleman and the Chiefs still get Worthy I'm probably not happy either. I'd much rather they have some conviction and pick their guy. 1) It removes any doubt about who they wanted. If anything, trading down signals the guy they really wanted was already gone, not that it was Coleman. 2)The compensation was weak. Equivalent to a 6th rd pick. Cheapest 1st round trade up in years. 3) Guarantee KC gets their guy. I don't care what you say there's no way anyone knows if Worthy would have fallen to them or they could strike a deal with another team. 4) You're giving up the slight advantage you had over other contenders by letting them pick before you. And again, no way to know if Coleman would still be there. -

What? The cap goes up again? -
Injuries were baked into your argument. Offense is much worse also. Traded our #1WR for a guy who is 19 right now 27 points because we were eating clock all game. They scored on every possession until late. Every single one

Kinda wish our season and McDermott’s tenure ended on a loss to Easton stick and some interim HC. Then we’d still have Diggs and all this roster turnover which is happening anyway would be worth it. We could have already tried out a couple HCs since 13 seconds. Never forget So we are the same?! Coupdnt stop the chiefs last year either.the goal is to get bette r

yay! Our WR1 is 34th best. Do you hear what you’re stretching to say? the truth is we needed to add to last years group. There was talk of adding a true #2 or 1B to compliment Diggs and push Davis to #3 instead both are gone and we have a second round rookie and some bottom of the roster players for depth.

Might be the fact that there are 2 1st rd picks, a 2nd rd pick on a 2nd contract, 2 FA signings and a rookie at DE and a thread about needing another one on this board. -

Fair, and I was exaggerating about the first but it does seem we re always taking less in these trade downs and paying more in the trade ups. I think there was a report on that just before the draft. -

Dude what aren't you understanding, they don't know who KC wants but they want someone. Unless they're offering a 1st or maybe 2nd I wouldn't have done it. Especially to just take a backup DT in the 3rd As a side effect it exposes you didn't want who you nd up picking later that bad -

Rock-A-Bye Beasley replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
No, you put a lot of words in my mouth there. First of all, whenever Beane trades up he says "he was the last 1st round grade left on our board" but now KC couldn't be i the same position? second, never said SF abslutely would have taken him, but we had the earlier pick so we get our choice and hopefully by the time it ets to KC their player will be gone. Why guarantee they get him? The 4th round trade up wasn't worth that alone to me. third, and this is a new point, trading from 32 to 33 was annoying as hell amking all the fans wait and also cost the 5th year option. was it really that much gained? -
