I'm aware of what a west coast offense is haha. Tyrod's strengths are the exact opposite of quick short passes that are based on timing and anticipation. He throws a nice long ball and can extend plays with his legs. That's not what fits Dennison's scheme. If you are a new coaching staff, I really don't think you want to bend your system and playcalling because your QB is too conservative. He may not lose us the game but he hasn't proven that he can win us a game. If your OC has to put in extra blockers throughout the game because your QB holds onto the ball too long and doesn't throw to receivers, I highly doubt you'd have any success on offense. He could've nixed the Jets game plan by throwing quick passes against them but he couldn't do that. Plus, if putting a 5th defender on the defensive line and stacking the box constantly against us isn't completely disrespecting our passing game, I don't know what is. He just doesn't fit. He's not aggressive enough as a passer and willing to make a through into a tight window. Sure he can make some plays when things break down but it breaks down because he can't make the initial reads and complete the passes. His best passes are on broken plays which is okay but that's not gonna make us better than average. Dennison has showed me he could work with Trevor Siemian...I think Tyrod is the problem, not Dennison. That's how I see it By the way, Trevor Siemian had 3,401 yards 18 TDs and 10 INTS in 14 starts last year in that system...now he looks like hot garbage

[closed]Why the rush to Peterman this week......
The Now Moment replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They are looking for the QB of the future. I don't think they want to change their coaching staff's scheme because of Tyrod's deficiencies. They want to run a specific system and if he doesn't run it well then he's out. They have put themselves in a position to be able to do that drafting Peterman, who seems to fit the scheme better and having multiple high picks in the draft that they can use to find the right QB for their system. Tyrod would need a completely different system and coaches don't usually want to change their system completely. It's not like Tyrod has proven to be a great QB in the past. -

Tyrod hasn't run this offense the way it's supposed to be run all year even dating back to the offseason. Quick reads and passes in windows are a must in this scheme...he just doesn't fit. Why see the same bad movie over and over? -
I just don't think he fit the scheme at all. The scheme is all about quick passing which helps the offensive line. Tyrod doesn't throw those quick hitters that this scheme thrives on and that has been a big reason for the huge sack numbers in my opinion. If a team puts 5 on the defensive line, you have to get rid of the ball quickly. That eliminates that pressure and they will likely have to back off of the line which opens up the run game a little. Tyrod was just way too hesitant to be a good passer in this scheme. We actually have a lot of weapons for a QB, Tyrod just was incapable of using them properly. Tyrod plays his best when he can hold onto the ball and that doesn't fit what Dennison does best with play calling

Missing a few offensive lineman. They are difficult to mock sometimes because college football doesn't exactly highlight those types of guys. They highlight the flashy picks. I expect about 2 maybe 3 more offensive lineman in that second round consideration. Hernandez could easily jump into the first round as he looks like a beast of a guard. I'm just missing some interior lineman...Billy Price Ohio State, maybe Mason Cole, Braden Smith, maybe Cody O'Connell. The big fellas always seem to have a run somewhere in the second round every year. I'm missing Tegray Scales LB Indiana (I love him as a Bills pick as a fast linebacker who has been extremely productive in his 4 years of experience at the college level). I believe Bradley Chubb has the chance with a very good combine and interview process to jump into the top 5 and potentially a dark horse for one of the top picks...he has dominated college football this year. I'm also missing Harrison Phillips DT Stanford. He's been one of the most productive dlineman in the class. In my opinion, their will be a few more pass rushers taken as well. I have a hard time with the amount of QBs that are drafted in the first two rounds here. While teams like Washington may lose a QB, another QB needy team will fill that hole with Cousins. The QB free agent market is interesting this year. I believe some of the QBs in the draft will slip into the 3rd and 4th rounds. As for the Bills picks, I am a fan of Allen at QB but a solid process for him could easily thrust him up the boards. He has some physical abilities that will make some coaches drool. Love Roquan Smith but I'm not sure if this regime will like the fit Alabama front 7 players have in this defense...who knows. Bold move calling the trades. With many options at QB this year and as of right now none of them really standing out, it will be interesting if teams would be willing to trade up for one guy in particular. I expect a few more guys from smaller schools that nail the draft process and senior bowl to be drafted here. Who knows honestly though, drafting for one team is hard enough haha. I appreciate the effort and attention to team needs. Well done

Nelson is considered the top guard in the class and easily one of the top prospects. In the last few years guards have been drafted with high picks. I don't see him making it to the 20s, he may not even make it to the teens. I like a few other guys that could easily be taken in the 20s or in the 2nd round though.

For me, the reason he struggled so much early on was because of Tyrod's poor timing. I think him and Nate Peterman can be much more productive if they execute that quick timing that is instrumental in Dennison's system. Peterman has shown he is willing to at the very least give his receivers a chance and let them make a play. Also, the quick passes and proper timing will help these receivers get some YAC that they didn't get with Tyrod. I wanna see if these receivers, especially Zay can get some room to run and show their playmaking ability with the ball in their hands for a change. We forget how fast Zay is sometimes because Tyrod really handcuffs him. The only times I've seen a run after the catch is when Tyrod dumped it down to Mccoy. Hoping that this switch of QB will help Zay's development.

Forbes: Why Peterman is starting on the road
The Now Moment replied to CanadianFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well with Lynn's familiarity with Taylor, I think this gives us the upper hand. Unfortunately, the game is on the road but that really doesn't matter. We claimed to have a great home crowd and look what happened last weekend... -
I'm curious in regards to Tyrod's skill set
The Now Moment replied to SinatraSinger's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To me, he needs a college system to play his best...designed runs, not under center... -
It was a TANK season all along - - get it !!!
The Now Moment replied to Punt75's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The word tanking I believe is wrong. I think the correct word is rebuilding. Tanking implies they want to suck and from what I gather with the constant grinding of the roster...they aren't tanking but rebuilding -
What to expect from Nate Peterman
The Now Moment replied to CDogg20's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Biggest thing I will be looking at is how the entire offense flows with him in there. Also, he's facing two of the top pass rushers in the game this week in Bosa and Ingram. I want to see how he handles himself against pressure. From his tape, half of the time he stands in there and fires a strike while other times he runs. I'm hoping for a solid showing from him -
That's the problem with the simulators, they are so unrealistic for me it's pointless. Braden Smith is one of the better guards in the country and some have him going as high as the end of the 1st round. The simulators are just horrible but I get the fun in doing them.

Coming from a secondary player this means more to me. Of course dlineman and linebackers will fear Tyrod because of his legs. Secondary players are the ones that are thrown at the majority of the time. If Hyde is complimenting you and he practiced against Aaron Rodgers...that's a positive for me. I'm not comparing Rodgers to Peterman in this post...
-
Well maybe instead of it always being on the oline and receivers (btw Clay, Mccoy, Benjamin and Mathews are pretty talented and Zay Jones has shown a ton of improvement) they want to see a quick release QB. Tyrod has shown an inability to throw when someone appears covered yet Benjamin gets the majority of his catches that way...Also, a quick release will make the oline look better and back defenders off of the line. Maybe it will help Shady get some room to run instead of defenses stacking the box against us begging for us to pass it.

Opinion/Theory - Is this team being over-coached?
The Now Moment replied to blacklabel's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually, if Peterman connects on passes down the field and gets the defenders to stop crowding the line and actually respect our passing game...that would certainly open up the run game at least a little in my opinion. Tyrod just hasn't been able to do that this year and Shady has paid for it -
While I fully understand the theory, Tyrod made this decision easy. He played horrible. QB was known to be a need, why wouldn't they see what they have before spending draft picks on a QB. If Peterman pans out, that doesn't necessarily mean we are going all in on defense. I'm positive they will address more holes along the offensive line early in this draft if they still have the draft picks. I mean, they did trade up in the second round for Dawkins. I expect them to draft a lot of defense too...hopefully they don't have to trade all of their picks for a QB...

Cap situation without Tyrod next year
The Now Moment replied to The Now Moment's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There's no guarantee he signs with that team, he'd have no choice if he's traded. Also, the point of the post that everyone is missing because they are going nuts over someone possibly trading for Tyrod is even if we cut him, we will have at least another 10 million in cap space to work with...btw shotty QBs have been traded in the past. It's all about finding the right team -
Cap situation without Tyrod next year
The Now Moment replied to The Now Moment's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
His contract isn't that bad. It's got one more high salary year on it. I could easily see a team looking for a bridge QB like the Jets had with their QB this year take a flier on him. They could easily dump him the next year. He's a .500 QB over 2 and a half years. Imagine a team like Cleveland who hasn't had a QB in forever as well. I certainly think somewhere, someone could use his abilities as a 1 year starter, but honestly who knows. Brock Osweiler was traded...anyone can be traded if the situation fits. The point of the post was not trading Tyrod but just getting rid of his contract in some fashion for next year. If he's cut...we have 10 million more in cap to sign free agents. -
Cap situation without Tyrod next year
The Now Moment replied to The Now Moment's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe not, but look at the bigger picture of the post...we will have at least 10 million more to work with if he's gone next year. However, I've seen Brock Osweiler get traded so...anything can happen -
Kind of difficult to see what's sarcasm and what's not on these boards...I've seen a lot of stupid things written that weren't sarcasm...

Cap situation without Tyrod next year
The Now Moment replied to The Now Moment's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Even though it may not look like it, Tyrod is more talented than some of the starting QBs on teams right now. He may have a market, not for a high pick but who knows. I've seen worse QBs traded -
No idea if that will hurt him but if he gets the athletes...look out
-
Next year he'd have a dead cap of 8.6 million but after that he's off the books. I fully expect them to look into trading him if Peterman plays even halfway decent. That's about 10 million more in cap. I don't know the exact cap number. That plus a handful of other cuts like Alexander would give us a lot of cap to play with. If they decide to make this move and use that to get more quality free agents, this team will look completely different next year. A lot of cap and high draft picks could be a huge injection of talent onto this team if used properly. They did a nice job assembling a secondary so far with their two safety FAs and White. Peterman could quicken this rebuild if he plays really well down the stretch. I'd expect Buffalo to draft a QB either way but maybe if he plays well enough, we don't have to use a first round pick on one. He'd have to play really well to do that though. That'd free us up to use all 5 picks that we have in the first 100 picks. Who knows, they could move up or down in any round like they did last year. The players this regime have brought in so far have looked fairly solid. A nice draft, two starting safeties, Deonte Thompson who has had a bunch of catches in his short time and a decent amount of depth for an offseason right after they took over with little time to prepare. Interested to see the direction they take
