  1. We laugh at them for firing coaches every few years yet some of the fans here chant for firings after a handful of games...
  2. Who cares?? He's a very solid player who's only 27 years old at a need position. There aren't many other DT options in this free agent class and it happens to be one of our biggest needs
  3. If you're curious on how his hands are...go back and watch his play for carolina when he was actually used correctly. He constantly won jump balls. Tyrod doesn't throw the ball up to him. I'm sure you'd feel better once we get a passing QB in here who is willing to throw to him even when he's covered
  4. That's a lot of ifs and New England would have had to lose the last game as well as a win from us. Too many ifs, can't look back and change anything.
  5. Actually, the Pats don't rest their starters often and it isn't week 17. Even if they won that game, they'd still have to win to secure the top seed for the playoffs. Either way they'd be playing for that spot.
  6. Agreed on Mayfield and Jackson. Rudolph just has to show me more. He has the potential but just not what I'm looking for in arm strength. He hasn't taken a lot of snaps under center, he's had great college receivers who've inflated his numbers by their run after the catch abilities and I've seen a ton of screens from him. He doesn't excite me as much as the others. I hope for his sake I'm wrong but I don't see a guy that can lead an offense right now. I see a guy that has relied on his system and great players around him to shred less than stellar defenses with decent throws that are lacking zip. Again, hopefully he proves me wrong for his sake.
  7. I am not looking for a dual threat though. Like I said, look at the QBs that have run around in this league this year. Almost all of them have been hurt. A lot of them with season ending injuries. Cam Newton is the only one that has survived the injury bugs as a running QB but he's 6'5" 240. Lamar Jackson is 6'3" 210. He's really thin and I believe will have major durability issues in the NFL.
  8. That's just my opinion of him and I have had the pleasure to watch many games from each of these QBs. I don't listen to the "experts" as much as others do, I watch for myself and come up with my own opinion and I don't see a franchise QB there right now. While he can surely develop, where he is right now...he's far away from that and seems to have a lower ceiling than the other prospects. Rosen and Darnold are clearly more consistent if you watch them game to game. Even with Darnold's inconsistent moments this year, he's shown a much higher skillset potential than Rudolph. I've watched him try to make NFL throws and a lot of them look like ducks that sneak by the college athlete. Darnold and Rosen show zip when making those NFL type throws and do a nice job at manipulating safeties and linebackers with their eyes. I'm just not a fan of him. He reminds me of the classic college QB that doesn't have the abilities that translate to the NFL based on the attributes I stated in the previous post. Doesn't mean he can't develop into a franchise QB but right now...I see too many similarities to failed QBs. For his sake, I hope I'm wrong. I am not a huge fan of Jackson or Mayfield either. Both of those guys have potential but there are major questions in their games when it comes to transitioning their abilities to the NFL. I'm not interested in Jackson's running ability as the potential to be injured as a running QB is extremely high in this league now. There are so many recent examples. I'm looking for a pass first QB. Mayfield has big question marks around him. How is he gonna fair in the NFL where guys are bigger and faster and hit harder? He's a tiny guy with not the best arm. Can he take a hit from a guy like Suh and get up and keep playing? I have questions...we will know more once the bowl games/interview process/senior bowl/combine is over.
  9. Actually, Houston designed an offense that is very similar to Clemson's. It is not a common NFL system. He went to the perfect team that had a college coach in Bill O'brien who is familiar with college systems. Not saying he wouldn't be good on another team but...who knows? System certainly can make a difference, especially for a rookie QB. Personally, I think his familiarity with that type of playbook helped Watson play as well as he did. Not much of a fan of Rudolph. He doesn't have a big arm. Watching his out route passes to the sideline...some of them look like they are big time ducks that make it there because he's playing against college players. To me, he is the opposite prospect of Allen. Allen has all the physical tools, mobility, can throw on the run, huge arm, didn't have any talent around him and wasn't as productive at a small school. Rudolph is more stationary, doesn't show great ability to throw on the run, doesn't have a big arm, had great talent around him and was highly productive at a big time school. I think Rudolph would be a mistake. System, players around him, lack of arm strength...not a high prospect in my eyes
  10. This is the nail on the head. Even in his best games, he has questionable decisions and luck going his way. What if the Miami defender intercepted that pass that couldn't have been more in his hands at the line of scrimmage and went for a TD? His second half was a yawner and yet it is one of his best performances of the year...that's pretty sad. Like you stated, he's simply a a bridge QB and I don't think he'll be here next season even if we don't find the rookie QB we are looking for.
  11. Even if he is better...where is Watson right now? Everyone chirped about not grabbing him but it is a fact that running QBs tend to get hurt all the time and sure enough...a season ending injury in year one.
  12. I agree with the momentum point but nobody is concerned about our receivers right now. If we had a QB that knew how to use them and threw to them...that'd be one thing. Tyrod simply doesn't throw to Benjamin. He doesn't give him a chance at a jump ball which is mindboggling to me. We could certainly win if our defense shows out and gets turnovers and the offense the offense plays like they did in the first half of the Miami game but we haven't seen them put it all together in really any game this year for a full 60 minutes. We have been just too inconsistent to feel confident with any kind of momentum unfortunately.
  13. Running QBs that have gotten hurt...all of them. Please stay away from this. Wentz injured on a running play, Watson injured on a roll out running play, RG3 injured on multiple running plays, EJ Manuel injured on a running play, Tyrod injured on running play...I don't think we will be interested in a running QB. I think they will be looking for a pass first guy. No more scrambling around and then throwing the ball. If we've learned one thing this year, it's keep your QB from getting hurt...Rodgers, Wentz, Watson, Luck maybe dead, Taylor...so many QB injuries. Timing, accuracy, arm strength, a mentally capable QB who makes smart decisions to stay off of the injury list please.
  14. If we have Peterman and get a rookie...maybe they add a veteran but not another inexperienced guy. That being said, I don't know anything about him.
  15. He has still done stunts, I've seen them during games this year. I re-watch many games and have noticed that they just don't seem to be working like they used to.
  16. What happens if we use those draft picks to find our next franchise QB? Just wondering. Will everyone think they are geniuses or still be upset we didn't keep Sammy Watkins and the others?
  17. One play that he already learned from...not too worried about that
  18. His attitude is what takes his play above and beyond. Not selfish, team player...gimme more like that
  19. True but scoring 3 points against Carolina when we held them to 9...that's a kick in the Chiclets
  20. He's played guard for the most part which I actually think will hurt him. Not many NFL teams like having tall interior lineman. It can blind the QB and hurt the passing lanes. If someone likes him as a tackle...then I think he will be taken in the upper rounds.
  21. In such a crowded class...I'm also wondering who is inclined to stay in school
  22. Our chances aren't one in a million this year...I don't know what to do with all of this hope haha
  23. No question the lines got pushed around against the Jets but looking back on some of our losses, the offense has fallen short in games. We held the panthers to 9 and only scored 3, we only scored 16 in a crucial game against Cincy and the offense laid another egg against New England where the defense held them to 23 points (which against them is good). I understand the defence of Tyrod in some games but those games...there isn't much of an excuse. Especially against New England who doesn't have a great defense.
  24. With a better passing QB who throws more than Tyrod does...I'm sure he'd be a much bigger threat. Hope he sticks around for some time
  25. Yes. The defense has been the big reason we are where we are but there were more winnable games there that the offense didn't show up. Carolina was held to 9 points and the offense scored 3. New England held to 23 (which is a win against them haha) offense scored 3 and Cincy held to 20 and offense scored 16.
