  1. Thanks, I originally had it "free agent target" but then decided to make it plural to get people to throw more names out there.
  2. Could be but we don't value wide receivers a lot right now. We'd have to overpay the guy. Will be interesting but I don't feel comfortable with overpaying for a wide out when we haven't used them much.
  3. I just can't get behind the drafting of a guy that's ceiling looks like Andy Dalton. That makes me sick. Besides the top two guys, you are drafting based on potential. Rudolph is inconsistent right now. It's not like he's been consistent, that'd be one thing. Rudolph has been absent in big games...sounds a lot like Dalton in the NFL. That doesn't excite me in the slightest. I'd rather take the guy with potential and let him sit a year to learn. In that time, we can sure up the oline and bring in some more young talents to fill out the rest of the roster that will allow him to not feel so much pressure when he comes in to do it all.
  4. Veteran guy, could be solid but his production has dipped hard with only 12 tackles this year I said to a previous poster that I think we will have a very difficult time getting any free agent WR to come here with the QB position up in the air. It wouldn't be a good career move by them
  5. Very true. I missed where he got hurt. Could be an interesting addition but I think this regime likes mobile guys. Also, not sure if I want a guy that finished his year on the IR for the last 5 games. We already have that in Glenn No to Davis in my opinion. Carrie is intriguing to me. I think you are right, he could be someone they will be looking at due to his versatility
  6. The talent on his team graduated and went to the NFL. Wyoming can't reload as easily as the big name schools so he's been playing with scraps.
  7. That's why I wouldn't be throwing him out there year one and grooming him behind a veteran. I think that will be the best way to reach his potential. I just see a very average QB when I look at Rudolph and a low ceiling. Doesn't excite me much
  8. I just thought Stephens would be a cheaper option which they might consider especially since they are in a rotation and they will likely draft one as well. I wouldn't be upset with Star at all though. Certainly another option Receiver will be very difficult in free agency with the QB position being an unknown at this point. Wouldn't be a smart career move to go to Buffalo for a wide out
  9. Christian Jones would simply replace Lorenzo Alexander and they'd still be able to draft a LB to replace Brown who is a FA this year. To me, Fluker has been a bust and is average at best at guard. Don't like him. I'd love Poe but I don't think that is realistic in my opinion. We shall see.
  10. He was 6-1 before he got hurt and had a game winning drive to win the game in one of those wins. He most certainly was a huge reason they were 6-1. Again, college stats mean nothing
  11. I agree. When you have a solid offensive line, it makes everything better. Hope they keep investing in it.
  12. Rudolph was inconsistent with those characteristics in my opinion this year. Just watch his throws in the TCU game I posted above. He constantly missed guys open on short passes. Was very unimpressive in a handful of games this year.
  13. A lot of fans only look at the stats or don't consider what he's working with. He doesn't have talent around him. He's had to do everything unlike a lot of the other prospects who have top NFL talents around them. I like him but he is very raw. I think he will be picked high like Mahomes was and like Mahomes, should be placed behind a veteran QB to learn and be groomed. He has all the physical tools. He has the best arm strength and nice mobility. Bradford would be a nice choice to be a one year guy to help groom a young QB. That would allow us another year to put talent around the young QB and give him the best chance we can to succeed. I think if we don't get either Rosen or Darnold, that should be the way we go. We threw Losman and Manuel to the wolves when they certainly could've used some grooming first. I hope they have patience with whoever they get this time even when the fans overreact about bringing in a veteran QB. I am scared that the fans impatience will thrust the young QB into the starting lineup too early. We will see. Hope it works out.
  14. First off, Allen isn't my boy. I just think he's the third best QB prospect in this class. I don't look at stats as they don't mean much. I look at the games and watch the players play. Allen's biggest concern is his accuracy and if you watch most of his games, his receivers are dropping passes or he's throwing it away as his offensive line immediately broke down. He's had to try to do too much to lift up the rest of the team. I think he will need a year to learn behind a veteran QB before being thrown into the game but his potential is one of the highest this year as his abilities are far beyond some of the other QBs. Today, he is playing after a shoulder injury has kept him out of the last two games. A lot of scouts wondered why he decided to play instead of skip and heal up for the combine but he's going to be out there. We will see if his shoulder becomes an issue to look at moving forward. Rudolph is on a team that gives him a ton of help. He has two wide receivers that will likely be chosen high in the draft. While he does some things well, he's been horribly inconsistent and has shown that in many games this year. He has been absent in big games this year and even had his struggles in games that they won like the 13-10 win over Texas. He just isn't impressive to me in any category. His receivers inflate his stats. I've seen a ton of plays from him where the receivers take a short pass to the house but it makes his stats look good. He doesn't show great zip on a lot of his passes and that's concerning to me. In the TCU game that I pointed out in the previous post, he had a horrible time with his accuracy and making the easy crossing pattern passes. He didn't show any awareness of pressure and took a few sacks he could have avoided by simply stepping up in the pocket and fumbled a ball do to his lack of awareness. Some of these things are obviously correctable but he seems to have more deficiencies than the other guys. I don't see a clear cut first round guy that some others see. I think the point in analyzing a QB is to pick them apart my man. Then you know their deficiencies and can decide which ones you think don't matter as much or can easily be corrected with some coaching or more experience. To me, Rudolph is a second round guy based on a lot of things he's shown on the field this year. He doesn't do anything really well and that raises questions for me. He's been very inconsistent this year with a bunch of weapons and an Oklahoma State system that doesn't exactly excite an NFL scout. You're right, every one of these QBs has deficiencies but like I said, scouts jobs are to pick them apart and see if some of those deficiencies are coachable.
  15. To those who say this is too early, sorry I look at how to improve from all angles at all times. With the positions of need we have in mind, who do you think will be our top non-QB targets in free agency? Last year Hyde and Poyer seemed to be the two top targets. In my opinion, this year's top non-QB targets will be: LB Christian Jones, Chicago Bears 6'3" 245, 26 years old -Jones came into the league as an undrafted free agent and surprised many by his production. He's had 3 productive years in terms of tackling at 68, 86 and 84 so far this year. In my opinion, he is in the wrong scheme with the Bears. I think he could be the Thomas Davis type player that McDermott is looking for in his scheme. He's a fast linebacker who can blitz and has had experience in coverage but his speed is his biggest attribute. At 26 years old going into free agency, I think we could get him for a decent price and I think he'd be more productive here. He's somewhat of an unknown guy but if you watch him play, he looks like a perfect fit for McDs scheme. I think he should be our top free agent target on defense. If they grab another LB in the draft, this linebacker core could be completely different and relieved of the slow linebackers that restrict the defense now. DT Shemar Stephens, Minnesota Vikings 6'5" 310, 26 years old -Stephens has quietly had two solid seasons for Minnesota in the last two years recording 39 total tackles last year and 27 so far this year. He could be a great guy in rotation. He does a nice job closing up running lanes and allowing linebacker to get to the ball carrier. He's not a big pass rushing option but he would help out the run defense. Another unknown guy but he has come into his own and I think he'd take a medium size contract to bring in but could be another nice piece to reshape the defensive side of the ball. C/G Ryan Jensen, Baltimore 6'4" 319, 26 years old -Jensen has been dominate this year. He's one of the highest rated centers this year but this is the first year he's played this well. He's a nasty player, reminds me a little of Incognito and at a young age, who better to put him next to if Richie is here next year to learn from. He has played center but can play guard as well if Eric Wood stays. Jensen has been a huge reason for the success that the unknown Baltimore running backs have had this season. He does a great job of getting to the second level. He will likely see a big contract for his play this year but we need to patch up the holes on this offensive line for whoever the QB is next year if we want to be a competitive team in the playoffs. These are young guys that have had experience and I think are perfect fits for this team and are looking to get better as they go into the prime of their careers. There are many other players out there, I'd love to hear what others think.
  16. This is one of the bigger games that Mason Rudolph had this year. TCU has a solid defense and has always been known for their defense. Rudolph had a horribly frustrating game. Missing easy throws, showing inconsistent footwork, lacking awareness in the pocket and throwing a pair of picks in the loss. He had a 53.7 completion percentage in this game. He has great wide outs and most of his incompletions were on him. He put up a dud in this game. Against Oklahoma he had a 51.9 completion percentage and 2 picks as well. Those were the two biggest games he had this year and the two toughest defenses he faced and he bombed in my opinion. He showed a slew of deficiencies. He doesn't excite me like some of the other QBs in this class. I would be very concerned if we drafted him. I don't see him as a first round pick but more of a high two, like Andy Dalton was. Too many things he's not consistent with, he hasn't shown up in big games this year so far and he has a weaker arm. His stats are extremely inflated due to the system he runs which doesn't have him under center and his receivers get a ton of YAC. I have a very hard time getting behind drafting Rudolph. I can't even imagine what he'd do against an SEC defense like Alabama.
  17. If we get a real QB in here and the defense gets more talent when they've already been fairly good in the majority of games...can't help but be excited
  18. I get what you're saying but I'd rather take that chance to score or get into really good field position. A couple yards before the 25 doesn't guarantee a punt. Maybe with our offense at times but that may be the point of the attempts. When our offense gets stagnant, I'd rather try to spark it on special teams than start at the 25 which when our offense is stagnant, that equals a punt as well. Maybe replace him but don't stop being aggressive. Everyone complains about the offense being conservative but now you want to root for a conservative special teams? I don't understand that. I want a different returner or maybe the blocking needs to shape up but don't stop trying to spark the offense by kneeling it in the endzone every time.
  19. The thing is, I don't want the ball bouncing into the endzone. A lot of the kicks he's returned have been from outside the enzone. I don't want that ball bouncing, who knows what kind of funky bounce could happen. It may not even go into the endzone, it could stay outside and then you're screwed even more. He needs to return those but he just hasn't done it well this year. I hope he improves or we will be looking for someone else to return those kicks. I expect to have a new returner next year.
  20. It's a locker room full of lesser talented guys right now and the team has overachieved. Most of the players in that locker room are guys that are either bridge players until they are replaced or guys who he inherited from the last regime. Why wouldn't they feel sketched out about him as they think their jobs aren't safe? However, the guys that he's handpicked like Poyer, Hyde, Johnson...those guys most likely don't feel that way because they were handpicked by him for the future and they have produced nicely. I don't think that any hatred will continue as he replaces the old regime's players. He tried to replace Tyrod...who's from the old regime. Once he gets the majority of his players that aren't bridge players but long term options at those positions, everything will be fine. Right now, he has a mixed locker room. Look at how Tom Coughlin was hated by some of the players and yet a few years later...super bowls. I'm not reading too much into this story at all even if it is completely true which I think it probably is. It was a big transition year and most players will get the boot and they've seen a lot of their teammates shown the door. Why wouldn't they be miffed? However, the new guys who are McD guys...I don't think they feel this way. Another year of repaving this roster and I think this will be a non-story.
  21. A ton of players hated Tom Coughlin when he first got to New York including Michael Strahan and I'm sure he ruffled some feathers with the front office as well. That turned out pretty darn well didn't it? I think McDermott will be just fine.
  22. I agree with most of what you are saying and am an optimistic fan...Jerry Hughes is not a poor man's Von Miller this year. Maybe when he was snagging double digit sacks but this year, he's dipped. He's more of a broke mans Von Miller that's only comparison really is his size this year. Also, Adolphus has had some moments where he's looked decent but in no way is he a starting guy. He may be kept as a backup or a rotating guy but not a guy who should get the majority of the snaps. He gets blown off the ball a lot especially on run plays. I think he can keep developing into a rotational guy but that's about it. That being said, we do have a lot of nice pieces. Hopefully this offseason we will cut the fat and keep adding some really nice pieces.
  23. There is a lot of pressure on them this offseason as they have so many picks and cap space. They have the ammunition to set this team up for the next few years. I hope they can do it. I won't be blinking much this offseason as I watch what they do haha
  24. This is what I think would happen if we were to get him.
  25. I prefer Allen to some of the other QBs in this class because I don't just blindly look at stats. (Not saying any fans here do that that state their opinion). I just have watched Allen a lot and have seen just how terrible his team is around him and don't care about his stats. I've seen him throw the ball and fit the ball into tight windows. He has the best arm strength in this draft in my opinion and his accuracy isn't as bad as it seems. A lot of times his teammates drop the ball. His offensive line has been horrible yet he's still been able to escape the pressure and keep his eyes down the field to complete passes. He has made some outstanding plays when under pressure and he doesn't need to set his feet all the time as his accuracy and arm strength can overcome that. He's thrown some big time NFL passes with zip and on target. Some of the other prospects make me question their arm. He has the size and mobility that all teams dream of. Unfortunately, his college team hasn't helped him see his potential. He's not on a team that has a lot of other NFL talents like every other QB has in this class. Some of those QBs have offensive lineman that will be top picks, some have wide receivers and tight ends that will be draft high in the draft as well. I see some of the other QBs as guys that benefit from their situations and don't quite have the talent that the statlines show. This guy is working with nothing. Watch the game friday at 4:00. I'm hoping he shows just how great his talent can be in that game. I'm rooting for the kid and think he's the best option for this team assuming Rosen and Darnold are already snatched up. His bust potential is high, yes, but are any of these guys sure things? I don't think so. I don't think anyone can say any college QB prospect is a surefire thing based on past busts. That being said, I like the idea of taking the guy with the potential to have the best ability. We may have to be a little patient with the guy as the learning curve will be big for him but this fanbase has shown that they have trouble being patient with a QB and come to conclusions very early in a QBs career. Whoever we get, I hope we will be patient and not run him out of town.
