Bills at Patriots* - 1st Half Thread

At least Brady was off the field for 8 mins and so was our defense -
Penny-Wise? Possible McCoy heir apparent?
The Now Moment replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As of right now, I strongly disagree that Penny will be taken that high with Barkley, Guice, Love, Chubb, and Johnson being in the conversation. I don't see that many running backs taken that high, Penny seems like the most likely to fall to down the draft. We will learn more during the senior bowl, combine... -
Penny-Wise? Possible McCoy heir apparent?
The Now Moment replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He is not being projected as a first rounder at all by most experts and if you watch him play, he's doesn't look like a first round talent at RB. Don't know where you got that info from but he is not widely regarded as a first round pick. -
That's debatable
-
You aren't going to get very far with these types of posts.
-
I will end the conversation here because you keep bringing up stats and disregarding any other factors that go into an incomplete pass. Players drop passes, players run the wrong routes, Allen ran for his life in a lot of the games this year and had to throw under immense pressure or throw it away. Those add up. The lack of talent around him has deflated his numbers. Watch more of his games and you will see that. I like the fact that his coach is the same one that coached with Carson Wentz. He's seen both play and compares the two. I take his opinion as he has had first hand experience coaching both. I think Allen will be a better pro if given time and coached properly. We will find out a lot more over the next few months. Can't wait, I'm excited.

Again haha stats aren't everything. You will not change my opinion by posting another stat. I've watched both play several times every year of their careers. I have my opinions about both based on what I see on the field not in the box score. Rudolph fell short being accurate on all throws against TCU and Oklahoma this year. Looked horrible against Texas as well. He was missing on easy 5 yard crossing pattern throws. His footwork is below average at best. As of right now, I am not very high on him. That certainly can change moving forward but right now, he doesn't do anything for me. He looks like the benefiary of a spread system and talented wide receivers. I hate bringing up what experts say but they feel the same way about Rudolph. Doesn't mean he can't improve but he's not someone that I can stand here and say will certainly be successful in the NFL and neither is Allen. That's why I go for the potential. These guys are second tier guys. With second tier guys, I tend to go for the potential. First tier guys like Rosen and Darnold, that's a completely different conversation.
-
Rudolph has just as many questions in my opinion due to the system he plays in at Oklahoma State. Again, you can't just look at the stats. I can't understate this enough. No matter if it's Allen, Rudolph or any of the other guys. Stats are not the reason Rosen is considered the top guy. He throws timing passes and reads defenses better than any of the other QBs in this class. You learn that by watching him play not by stats.

Tyrod Taylor & Julian Edelman
The Now Moment replied to twoandfourteen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I understand that but I don't think he plays with the same grit that Edelman does. Don't think he'd translate well to the position -
...Dude I started with Allen right now. I clearly said right now. Not after the combine and testing and all of that. I said right now. And I didn't compare every trait to Rodgers. Please don't put words into my mouth. I said that he looks to have a similar arm strength and ability to throw on the run as Rodgers. If you watch a lot of his games and watch his zip, the comparison isn't a hyperbole. His best throws/plays show that. Never said he's the next Rodgers. And yes I remember Russell. However, I think it's lazy to say any QB with a big arm and a few question marks will turn out to be him. Again, I said right now knowing what we know, I'd take Allen.

Tyrod Taylor & Julian Edelman
The Now Moment replied to twoandfourteen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I just look at the way they run with the ball. Edelman looks for contact and Tyrod doesn't. That to me shows a lot about their toughness. Edelman thrives with that type of aggressive hard hitting. Tyrod doesn't take a lot of hits running the ball. -
[Misleading Title]Chargers QB benching
The Now Moment replied to Bing Bong's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Does anyone think that starting Nate gave Tyrod a little motivation when he started again the following week? He looked awfully comfortable with his garbage performance against the Saints...maybe that motivation helped him play better??? Who knows -
Tyrod Taylor & Julian Edelman
The Now Moment replied to twoandfourteen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Edelman's toughness helps him at that position. Tyrod doesn't have the toughness that Edelman has. Not the same type of player at all. -
In the other 11 games this year, the defense has given up an average of 15.5 points a game. That's easily in the top 5. They have kept us in a lot of games this year. If we can build on the defenses performance in those 11 games, yeah we're looking solid on that side. The offense has been a mess all year haha. Those three games we were crap on all three phases besides a few nice plays in garbage time. The defense caused a lot of turnovers at the beginning of the year that helped us win against teams like Atlanta and in other games. They held KC to 10 and Miami to 16 in must win games...I'd say that's pretty darn good. Yeah those three games sucked but other than that, that side of the ball is the reason we've been in almost every game.

He wasn't good in either game. He was horrible against TCU as well. He had a very shaky year with all of those weapons he had and a Mike Gundy system that inflates states with solid weapons around the QB. I just don't see anything special about the guy. I think the problem that we had with guys like Losman and Manuel is we put them out there too quickly. They clearly weren't ready. We knew that when we drafted them. They needed to sit and learn behind a veteran but we were so impatient it hurt those guys. Allen would benefit from learning from a veteran guy. Hopefully we have the patience as a franchise and a fanbase to let whoever the rookie QB is grow at their pace and not put a clock on them as soon as we draft them. That is a mistake that we've made too many times in the past.
-
There's no chance he will make it out of the first round. With all of the QB needy teams, he could sit behind Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Eli Manning, Carson Palmer...too many teams have situations that they could use a QB. With his potential being that high...there's just zero chance he's not a first round pick. Allen right now. He has the highest ceiling of anyone in the draft. He needs to sit behind a veteran though. Rudolph has a better chance of playing in year one but I think he'd still be horrible right off the bat as well. Allen at times looks like Aaron Rodgers out of the pocket in terms of arm strength and the ability to throw on the run. Yes I understand the comparison I just made but if he plays consistently at what his peak is...that's Aaron Rodgers. Don't believe me, watch some of the highlights of his best plays. They will wow you. Rudolph just doesn't wow me even on his best plays. Obviously just my opinion of the guys. However, Allen is rated higher than Rudolph and Mayfield on the majority of boards. A franchise would need to be patient with him...don't know if Buffalo fans can handle that.
-
He had a 51 completion percentage and most of the incompletions were on him and he had 2 picks. His receivers went off in the spread system that game. He showed poor footwork and many other deficiencies. Don't just look at the point totals He has the opposite arm that EJ Manuel had. Manuel had no zip...this guy has Aaron Rodgers zip and that's not a hyperbole
-
Oh Dennison would not be the guy that'd I'd have groom him haha but I like the kid.
-
I can't wait for the combine/interview process for these guys. The wonderlic is definitely something that should be looked at for a guy like Allen who wasn't a top prospect coming out of high school. He shows great competitive spirit but that's something that can really help or hurt him. We should be looking for a guy with a high wonderlic score, no doubt.
-
You'd need a lot more than that to get either of those two. We are trading up from the twenties remember.

Are the Bills fun to watch?
The Now Moment replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I love football. I love watching the strategy of the game and Buffalo has a solid strategy for the players they have. I love watching defense. The offense needs to get better but I don't care about needing to throw for 300 yards. That's a lazy fans complaint in my opinion. The fine details of strategy are the most intriguing to me and we do it differently than most teams that have a winning record and fans get upset by that. I find it exciting to watch the rookies and young players grow. I watch a lot of football though. I understand a fan that doesn't watch every second being bored by this year's team. I love the game. It's all about strategy. Some only care about the surface product but there's a lot of excitement in watching growth in players, draft, free agency, waivers...all of the finer things that go into the game. This year and the transition that has occurred has had me on the edge of my seat all year. I think we are moving in the right direction and that has me excited as well. I'll be on the edge of my seat all offseason as well. -
Belichick sabotaging Pats future?
The Now Moment replied to Gate To Wire's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Brady has played too long for Garoppolo to have a chance in New England. That's unfortunate for them as he looks good so far. -
Your Family Tree - Any younger football fans?
The Now Moment replied to GottaRun's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't have kids yet but when I do, I'm not going to shove a Bills spoon in their mouth. I want them to decide what their passions are for themselves, not me forcing something on them.
