Free Agency-who will leave?
The Now Moment replied to ColdFront_USAF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think he's a solid player with a pass first QB but whether he wants to stick around to see if we grab one...who knows -
Who knows if Watkins would have stayed healthy here. That's a big assumption. Tyrod threw Sammy into some tough situations were he came out hurt. Just look at the steelers game when he came up hurt. Threw a slant right into two defenders that hit Sammy and he came up hurt. You can't say he'd have played 16 games this year here. Doesn't mean he wouldn't have but you can't say he would have with all the injuries he had over the last few years here. Either way, we knew Matthews wasn't Sammy's replacement. He's a slot guy. Again, at that point when they made the move, I think they did the right move based on all of the factors I mentioned earlier and they grabbed a player who played well although hurt and a potential future starter.

Free Agency-who will leave?
The Now Moment replied to ColdFront_USAF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd like to retain Gaines and add in a third corner either in the draft or through free agency. I do think it's Kyle's last season. Wish him well. Don't let tolbert go through the snack line on the way out. I'd like to keep Matthews because I think he can be a quality receiver when healthy and with a new QB based on his play in Philly but I just don't see him wanting to resign here. -
Hindsight is 20/10 isn't it. Yes, it was unfortunate that those players got hurt but those players injuries weren't factors at the time of the deal. C'mon you're smarter than that.

Sammy's option was for 13.2 million dollars and he was disgruntled. On top of that, he played in only 8 games the year before and 13 the year before that showing his injury concerns. That's a lot of stuff going on to just hope he figures it out and becomes happy.

Friendly reminder: Turnover differential is King

I love how fans get upset about McD's conservative play and defend Tyrod who conservatively doesn't throw the ball down the field so he won't turn the ball over. Then, another one of my favorites is that the wide receivers aren't open but we have a receiver in Benjamin that is open at all times you just need to throw it up to him. You can also rewatch the games like I do and watch players running around open. I used to be a Tyrod defender until I rewatched and saw the light haha. -

Haha...I can't wait to never hear another thing about Tyrod. Tyrod was responsible for 23 touchdowns last year. The rest of the running game was responsible for 23 touchdowns. Yeah I used to be a Tyrod defender too. Got old when he couldn't even score more than 3 points in games, was too inaccurate in every game with his passes and took too many crucial sacks. Watching every game more than once this year, wanted to claw my eyes out watching him and his inaccurate passes and poor vision. I kept rewatching to see if he really was worth defending, he wasn't. There came a point I just had enough with his trash play. Need above average QB play to get to the super bowl. I'm not interested in 8-8 and 9-7. -
No doubt they've contributed but you're telling me that those teams weren't talented enough even before those players? I mentioned all of the MVP and DPOY candidates. I should also mention Aaron Donald for the Rams, been a monster this year. Those players are benefitting from being on talented teams too dude.
-
Haha those teams are wildly talented otherwise. It's not because of those players but good for them. Todd Gurley is an MVP candidate, Carson Wentz was an MVP candidate before injury and the Jags defense as a whole is monsterous led by Calais Campell who some analysts have said should get some defensive player of the year votes. But sure, we can give the credit to these three guys. Dareus with his one sack...far fall from 10 in 2014.

I talked to Mike Tolbert today and said - -

Somebody needs to attach a fishing pole to his helmet with a twinky attached to the hook out in front of him. He'll run harder than he ever has -

Some fans only like to see that he doesn't throw INTs, they don't like to take into consideration that he also doesn't score TDs. -
He didn't act like he wanted to be here. I don't think he would resign here. So, you would've never seen the top talent the guy had after paying two 1st round picks for him and a 4th and gotten nothing as he left in free agency. I'd be screaming at the front office. I'm glad they got something for him. If Gaines resigns (which is possible as he looks like a solid fit in this scheme) and the second round pick becomes a starter, we fill two needs instead of filling none and Sammy leaves. We gotta be a little realistic, the guy wasn't happy here.
-
That just doesn't make sense to me. Also, Sammy wasn't healthy at all last year. Played in 8 games, who knows if he'd have been healthy here. Even if we won one or two more games, that's all you want?? No long term success goal?? Just one year of playoffs and then back to having a bunch more needs? You create another need with WR anyway and you don't have the two players that you got from the trade. If Gaines signs a deal and we have the second round pick, that could be two starters filling two needs for the next few years. You'd be fine with having none of that? I guess I just find that foolish.

Matt Milano graded out among top rookie LB's
The Now Moment replied to SaviorPeterman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Obviously Hodges would've just been a bridge player, there wasn't a lot of options besides Brown in last year's linebacker pool. We drafted two guys and one became a starter. We picked up bridge players in free agency because that's all that was left. Like I said, can't fix all the holes in one year. -

Did he want to resign here?? He sent out a thank you/goodbye note to the city of Buffalo on his twitter account even before McDermott was signed on. -

Can't fill every hole in one offseason. They brought in Gerald Hodges who had 80 tackles last year with 3 sacks and 2 INTs. He did a face plant this year and didn't even make the team. The guy has a total of 3 tackles in 10 games for the Saints. Milano has been an upgrade. -
Agree with the statements made here. Tough to evaluate a player in that system and conference.

Ryan Finley Thoughts
The Now Moment replied to Jamie Muellers Ghost's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Looks similar to a Peterman type prospect in my opinion. Doesn't have the best arm, two year starter, senior, some college success, average mobility, considered a 2-3 round prospect that could fall like Peterman did. I don't see him jumping up into the first round, not with all the other prospects in this class. -

That's something I doubt we'll ever truly know -
If he comes out, Drew Lock. Luke Falk as well. He may be falling down the board, he's certainly a project but how many college QBs can you say that their strength is accuracy? Wouldn't mind looking at him later in the draft

Agreed, especially for offensive players. This will be an enormous offseason for those two. So many assets. -

I expect McDermott to have a big role in the draft room moving forward, especially with defensive players -
