What RB I would target in the draft
The Now Moment replied to Buffalo716's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Look at his college production...it's lacking to say the least. He didn't get a ton of carries. I think teams see him as only a split or goal line option. Doesn't have great hands. Being able to catch the football as a running back nowadays is what teams seem to be looking for. I think he is a legitimate option for us. -
What RB I would target in the draft

I'm sorry but with the condition that our offensive line is in right now...offensive line comes before running back. We can pick up a 4-5 round guy maybe but in my opinion that's as high as we go with so many more pressing needs. That being said, this class is so deep someone has to fall. Barkley, Guice, Jones, Kerryon Johnson, Chubb, Freeman, Wadley, Adams, Scarbrough, Pettway, Carter, Penny, and an underrated Nyheim Hines. I like Hines out of NC State. He is fast and has some cut ability but could really learn from Mccoy. However, I think we will be looking for a bigger back, someone that can change the pace. Tolbert had a game or two that he was good. There's just too many to choose from right now not knowing who'd be there and who falls into our lap. There's big talented classes at the interior OL, RB, DT, QB and LB...just what the doctor ordered. -
It's February 15. What's going on at OBD?
The Now Moment replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is a part that most fans don't get to see and a lot don't understand. We complain from our armchairs about how they make so much money and some don't produce what we expect from them. We don't see the preparation that goes into the play on the field. Sure we get to watch a few training camps but everything else is somewhat of a mystery. I would certainly be interested to see what they are doing on an offseason day like today. -
I'm all for trading up but I don't think we can expect all of our holes to be patched up in FA or with whatever picks are left from moving up. There will certainly be holes left and I'm okay with that. The rebuilding continues with a big step of getting the franchise QB.
-
Ya know for all of the people that complained about being too conservative, wouldn't it be very conservative to not trade up and find another decent QB to fill in? That just continues the trend of conservative crap that has dragged this team down for years. Let's be aggressive and go get a guy. Philly was one of the most aggressive teams I've seen in terms of getting a QB and play-calling style and they beat a team we dread to play.

What units do we upgrade?
The Now Moment replied to The Now Moment's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I truly believe Lawson was drafted to start out as a solid run defender who can add a few sacks while Hughes was supposed to be the big time pass rusher. He was never a big time sack artist in college but more of a run stuffer who could get to the QB every now and again. Lawson did a solid job setting the edge versus the run and had 4 sacks in his ten games this year. He was on pace for around 6-8 sacks and close to 50 tackles. That's a pretty solid year in terms of production from a second year DE in my opinion. However, he absolutely has to get healthy. If he plays a full season this year, he could be a solid player. Hoping with an improved inside, the end rushers will be able to get to the passer better. Main thing for him is to just stay on the field. -

Hoping he can build on the year he had and get to the passer more. -
What units do we upgrade?
The Now Moment replied to The Now Moment's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What's the next position you would address after that? What's the bigger need at position group outside of QB with the roster we have now? If you could only upgrade two units after getting the QB. Front 7 counts as two units. Offensive line and wide receivers are also two of their biggest needs. Which ones would you pick? -
Bills hire Terry Robiskie as WR coach
The Now Moment replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like the hire. Need a good balance of young bucks and experienced guys. The fact that he's been OC and interim HC also helps. I'm really liking their coaching staff decisions more this year. As for Pryor, he certainly seems to pass the height requirement and could maybe come at a lower price. Would be an interesting option. A couple of giant wide receivers for a new QB. -
Last offseason, there was a clear goal to upgrade the secondary and patchwork the linebackers and defensive line group. On offense, the targeted position group was the wide receiver spot which hasn't worked out so well just yet but there certainly is potential there still. So what units do you think they will focus on this time? They focused on the speed groups in wide receiver and secondary last time. You can only upgrade so many needs and we have several. The linebackers need upgrading. I think Milano is the only certain starter on that group based on his potential and the expectation to continue to get better as he seemed to do over the course of his rookie year. Brown might stay on for another year but I don't see him as the MLB that McDermott wants for the long haul. While there is a clear need to upgrade the linebackers, there is also a clear need to add some young talent to the defensive line that has underperformed over the last few years after creating such lofty standards with Jim Schwartz. Hughes and Williams future are question marks. There is a huge need at DT. Lawson is also a question mark even though I feel better about Lawson's play than some fans do. I see a potentially great run stuffing defensive end that just needs to shake his injury spat here and get an actual full season in. He had 4 sacks in less than 3/4 of the season, so he was on pace for about 6-7 sacks in his second year. I think that's pretty good and add in his run stuffing abilities, I think he could have a breakout year next year if he's completely healthy. But his injuries are a big question mark. Then there's the offensive line which seems to be hanging on by a thread. Glenn is constantly hurt, if he stays and is healthy, then he can be a pro-bowl player. But those injury concerns with that large contract at over 14 million, I think he could be moved in a tradeup in the draft for a QB. I think in an ideal world, using him as a trade chip in this draft to find a QB is the most valuable way to move on from him. Maybe he could save us some draft picks and a tackle-needy team like the Giants could be the perfect team. Wood retired. Groy could potentially be a solid fill-in but I'm not sure if he's the long-term answer at center. RG needs an upgrade and so does RT. Even if Glenn stays and is healthy, there are some big needs inside as Incognito's place on this team is somewhat questionable as well. The QB is the biggest need on this team in my opinion. We need a more aggressive QB who can make the quick passes and see the field. This position will almost certainly be addressed and will cost a lot, either in draft picks or in cap space. This is a must. If we trade up and get the QB, I think we only fill the needs of one other position group. If we don't trade up, I could see us filling most of the other needs besides the QB. What groups do you think we target this year and what groups do you think will be left to patch up?

Matt Harmon: Best Tight-Window Passers of 2017
The Now Moment replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So we throw up our hands at McDermott's conservative calls in terms of the offense yet we have the most conservative QB in the game...I applaud them for wanting to go a different direction. Enough of being too conservative. That's an old man's game. This is a young man's game and you have to take chances. Philly took chances and now they are celebrating those decisions. Tyrod was decent for what he is, a very conservative QB. Time to start being more aggressive. -
Personally, I like Lamar Jackson better than I like Rudolph but realistically I'm thinking Baker Mayfield could be the guy we target as of right now. There will be risers and fallers as we get closer. Mayfield is someone of a wildcard at this point. Some think he could go in the top 6, some think he will fall to the twenties.
-
The guy screams third down back in my opinion. He has the hands to catch, the big body to block and the power and quickness to carry the ball. Could be a nice late round asset to an offense that likes to pass to their backs a lot.

Why Tim Settle should be the next Buffalo DT
The Now Moment replied to The Now Moment's topic in College Football
If his character checks out, have him learn from Kyle for a year. Would love to get 2 DTs at some point, this class of DTs is rich.. -
So many people don't know the difference between tanking and rebuilding

I mentioned others too -
And I repeat, with all of the calls that occurred this year it was not a clear cut call by any means. In the past it was but not this year.
-
He was saying he didn't know most of the time? I just rewatched it again. I don't know what you heard. Plus, the ball definitely hit the ground and moved in his hands and then popped up in the air. Watch it again. I think it's a touchdown but to say that's not even close to the other calls this year...come on. The whole year has been about "the process of taking it to the ground." Listen to what he says again throughout the entire thing. I have a hard time bashing that after this crazy year of catches being overturned. I think everybody is just getting really defensive because New England is involved.

With all of the DT talent in this class, someone could definitely fall to us in the second. That's the hope at least -
In-Depth Breakdown of Lamar Jackson by Eliot Crist

He was still running though instead of in the pocket taking normal dropbacks. I like the thought of a dual threat QB but this is what can happen on any play with those guys. This isn't the first time Watson tore his leg up too. Andrew Luck, Carson Wentz and Rodgers got hurt on running plays. RG3 was constantly hurt. Can Jackson slide and protect himself instead of trying to make the extra move that gets him injured? There's a lot of questions that come along with the dual threat QB that make me hesitant with a guy like Jackson who clearly likes to run a lot. I obviously with the kid the best but after all of the QB injuries this year, my concerns are heightened for a QB that puts himself in harms way by running a lot. -
Like I stated in the previous posts, whether you thought it was a catch or not, the way it's been called this year...it wasn't a cut and dry call. I don't think you can bash the announcer for talking about the play and not knowing which way it'd be called because of previous calls
-
I'm not saying that it wasn't a catch. I'm simply stating that bashing an announcer for not knowing cut and dry what the call would be and trying to look at it several times after the year we've had with catches being called incomplete...that's a little low IMO. What do you honestly say in that position? Those were close calls that have similar calls that were incomplete during the regular season.
-
It's not as cut and dry as you make it seem. Ertz only got two steps down and then when he finally got to the ground the ball popped out. I thought it was a catch but to bash the announcer for not knowing based on the way the league has called those plays this year is low to me. It was certainly not clear cut by any means, at least not for this season.
-
Like I said, whether you thought it was a catch or not, plays like that have been called incomplete all season. Goodell stated that he's concerned about the catch rule and that changes could be coming. Do you not remember the Pittsburg New England game? Very similar play, called differently. Whether you thought it was a catch or not, the announcers had to take into consideration plays this year and Al Riveron who was in the booth making that call. Certainly not as cut and dry as you make it sound.
