  1. I like that he kept Neal at safety. I think he'd learn a lot from both Poyer and Hyde. I am very interested to see what Mccloud can do. He was a high recruit coming out of high school and he does have very solid speed even though his combine numbers don't show that. His game speed is much faster IMO and I'd like to see what he can do on the offense. He has some flash with the ball in his hands. That being said, I'm just hoping he will be a good returner.
  2. I know 14 Nicks and 6 Matts. They all look wildly different. I've really never understood why people say someone looks like a name.
  3. They are in a rotation. Hughes may not even play on first downs. Lawson and Murphy are better against the run. The coaching staff will put the players in a the best position to be successful, if that means Murphy sits first downs and comes in on second and third downs, so be it. I don't think the "starting" title will matter on the defensive front. The rotation will give everyone a good amount of snaps.
  4. How does someone look like a certain name?
  5. I think they have a lot of potential. It will be interesting to see how Milano and Edmunds play behind the beefed up defensive front.
  6. I think a lot of them will see the field. I don't care about getting "starters". This team is built on rotation and depth. Bringing in more solid players is all that mattered and I think they did that. I see a good amount of players that will have significant playing time this year no doubt. Can't wait to see what the small school rookies do in camp.
  7. I'd much rather have it this way. Third round picks are far from premium picks. We got widely regarded top ten player in the draft at a major position of need because we kept the 22nd pick. That is way more valuable than a couple of picks later in the draft IMO.
  8. I did not compare the prospects of Rodgers and Allen. If you read carefully, I said his potential is what Rodgers is in the NFL now. He has the incredible arm talent that only a handful of QBs have ever had and the sneaky mobility to make plays both in an out of the pocket. He goes for the big chunk plays like Rodgers does. I did not say his accuracy was on par with Rodgers and b no means is he the same prospect coming out of college. Don't change my words. As for Tyrod, Benjamin is not a player that will get open because of his speed. He thrives on the jump ball and Tyrod was unwilling to throw it to him. Tyrod last year did not throw the ball down the field like he had earlier in his career. His unwillingness to throw the ball into tight windows and trust his receivers hurt him and the offense. The Nathan Peterman's throw to Benjamin down the sideline in the Colts game is exactly how Tyrod should have been using KB but he just wasn't willing to make those throws. He was covered but the throw was placed high where KB could go get it. Say all you want about having limited weapons, all you need to do is watch the game film to see Tyrod missed open receivers. I liked Tyrod but he had his limitations.
  9. I'll take Tremaine over any two players in the second round. He has such high potential.
  10. I think we will see Alexander blitzing more and covering less. Last year, we didn't have a lot of depth. I think this year we will use him less in coverage. He is an effective pass rusher. They have really nice depth for the rotation. Am excited to see how keeping the players fresh helps out a talented group of guys such as this.
  11. I think he will prove to be just fine as a 3 technique player. He's a wrestler, it may not always look pretty but he gets the job done. His college production says it all. If he's doing that while being the nose, I'd really like to see him at the 3. I am excited to see him in the rotation. He provides great depth for Star as well. Am very interested to see what the trio of Star, Phillips and Edmunds can do in the middle of that defense.
  12. What is everyone expecting from the reshaped defensive front? The defense did about as well as you can without a very good pass rush last year. This regime has done a nice job reshaping the defensive front this offseason to something with a lot of potential. The sack numbers were dreadful. There was a lack of pressure up the middle and the edge guys were just too late. With the injection of a space eater in Star, a potential solid pass rusher in Murphy and a lot of depth including the third pick, Harrison Phillips. With a lot of new faces, what are the expectations for the upcoming year with the defensive front? Personally, I've loved the additions on the front line. Murphy, Star and Phillips seem to fit Buffalo like a glove. I am interested to see how these three impact Hughes, Lawson and Williams play. Those three had a tough time last year getting to the QB. I am hoping that better talent at DT will eat up more blockers allowing other players to get to the QB as opposed to last season getting pushed around at times. I expect this defense to turn it around a bit in the sack category and be much more effective against the run. This regime really has done a nice job of injecting a lot of talent in the front 7. I see Hughes having a better year as well as Lawson. I am in the pro-Lawson camp, I know that crowd as thinned a bit but Lawson really looked solid against the run at times and made a good amount of tackles for a guy that was in a rotation. I think he would have ended with 6-7 sacks last season and 50 tackles if he didn't get hurt, I am happy with that for now. Murphy will be a nice pass rushing piece as well. I would love to see a little more Alexander blitzes and am hoping to see a good amount from Edmunds as well to create a lot of pass rush this season and let those DBs do what they did best for a good portion of the season last year. I was hoping for significant improvement of the front 7 this offseason and the front office did not disappoint. Very interested to see how all of those pieces plays together. With a lot of solid talent in front of Edmunds, I expect him to quickly become very productive and Milano will have his opportunities to shoot the gaps as well. The potential on this defense is very exciting, can't wait for camp!
  13. I liked Tyrod but he just couldn't utilize some of the weapons on our roster. For instance, He struggled with throwing the ball to Benjamin and Jones. Hoping he gets a chance with Cleveland, he can give them a couple of wins and maybe take them to their first playoff in a while. That's my hope. I really wish the kid the best. That being said, I have never had an excitement for a Buffalo QB the way I'm excited about Allen. His potential is Rodgers. I know we've had trouble finding a QB using potential as the main reason but this is a different regime and a different offense. We have a redzone target in Benjamin, when healthy is one of the biggest mismatches in the league. Allen is not like Tyrod, he is more willing to throw the ball deep down the field and throw it up to Benjamin. Tyrod seemed to not take advantage of that mismatch. I know Benjamin was a bit slow due to injury but he was targeted far too few times. Allen will throw the ball up to Benjamin, he's wants the home run plays and the big chunk plays. I love that mentality. Here's to Allen becoming the next great Buffalo QB!
  14. It probably doesn't help. It would seem the ground would be very hard in cold games but what do I really know. Either way, Rosen has a concerning concussion history that I believe was a bit overlooked in my opinion. This city needed a new Jim Kelly, not some skinny !@#$.
  15. Josh Rosen has some red flag type concussion injuries. He doesn't fit the cold weather tough QB mold that Buffalo needs. Allen fits that a lot better.
  16. I think the excitement will only progress as this team draws closer to being a very solid contender. If Allen works out, this team isn't that far away considering our cap space and draft picks next year. I am very pleased with the job they've done fixing up the front 7 on defense. Hoping it goes from weakness to a potential strength this year as the secondary did last year. It certainly has a lot of potential. They still have plenty of opportunities to grab more players and make trades. Am very interested to see if they attempt to bring in offensive help since Beane stated that he intended to pick some offense for Dabol but he went by who was best on his board.
  17. They brought in Newhouse, him and a few others will manage the RT position for this year. They will get to the offense next year, this wasn't a very good draft in terms of offensive talent coming out. Next year has a better tackle class in my opinion. Hopefully there will be more wide receivers as well.
  18. Teams are using slot receivers a lot more and the Patriots definitely use them. Slot corners are really important in today's game.
  19. I actually like Taron Johnson to win the slot job. I think they want youth in that secondary. I believe they want to create a Legion of Boom or Jackson 5. One of those great secondary's that is given a name. They want this defense top 5 for a long time and how you do that is by bringing in a lot of young talented players. A veteran like Leonard is a nice cork to fill the hole until you find a really nice slot corner. I liked Leonard Johnson but they want this secondary to be great and he just isn't quite that.
  20. Agreed, plus another offseason will help to build the offense around him more. Honestly, he is the opposite of Tyrod. I think with a solid defense and a QB that can hit quick home runs while still relying on a solid run game...that'd be tough to beat.
  21. I respect the honesty. I looked up Allen and all of his highlights last year and then his game film and watched him play a handful of games this year, I really like him. If he played at USC, he'd have been the first pick in the draft. He had very little talent around him. He was the offense. He made plays with his legs and his arm. He found ways to win this year with no playmakers and shabby at best blocking. To the fans who don't watch game film on players before the draft, it's obvious why you think he isn't any good. His stats sucked. No one is questioning that. His competitiveness, love for the game, his mobility and rocket arm with flashes of Aaron Rodgers at times is why people who like him, love him. Teams will regret passing up his potential. If he puts it together, he will be next in line behind Aaron Rodgers. People have to stop looking at only stats sheets to make a conclusion on players. If you looked at only numbers Tom Brady would be selling weenies at a baseball game but he's not. He's the greatest ducking quarterback of all time. Wouldn't it be some sweet revenge if Allen turns out to be the next Hall of Fame QB in the AFC East and the Patriots become the next Cleveland. Ahh we can dream can't we. But seriously the stats mean nothing. So many players are unproductive in their college careers and turn out to be great NFL players. The only question I have now is, do you start him or sit him behind Mccarron and give him some time to learn?
  22. That's part of it but Allen in general keeps his eyes down the field. He's not looking for the 5 yard play, he's always looking to make chunk plays.
  23. So you'd rather have a game manager who won't necessarily win you the game but keeps you in the game by not throwing picks...the Alex Smith/Tyrod Taylor approach?
  24. He has that similar trait to Tyrod except he is willing to throw the ball downfield more than Tyrod in those situations. Allen doesn't look to escape the pocket to dump the ball down, he is looking for chunks.
  25. It was a major reason why I didn't want him. I've seen the abuse Wyoming's offensive line has allowed Allen to take and he can take a hit really well. Rosen had first round lineman to block for him and still has a history of injuries including concussions. Not someone I'm interested in taking. Allen has some really solid awareness in the pocket as he was running for his life every other play it seemed like.
