  1. We will be in a lot of games with the solid defense and shady but who knows what to expect? McDermott took a team last year that was predicted to be garbage and broke the drought. We will see how we do but last year we had a lot of rookies that played really well. I think our success depends on how quickly this draft class develops.
  2. I didn't say he would stop him or even slow him down, I just said he has a better chance due to his measureables. His size is scary in the middle of a defense, especially behind good defense tackles that eat blocks. Very excited to see what he can do this year. He will have a lot on his plate but I think he can handle it.
  3. I am baffled at how hard this is to understand for some people. There is a difference between rebuilding and tanking. You can win while rebuilding.
  4. Edmunds has the right combo of height, speed, weight and talent to actually challenge him.
  5. I think he has the chance to be better. Smith while amazing, is very small and wouldn't be able to cover tight ends like Gronk. Edmunds might have a chance.
  6. He has McDermott to coach him and he's coached a great LB in Keuchly. He also has a good amount of veterans around him that will help him. I'm not too worried. As long as he stays focus, I think he will be special.
  7. So many people aren't giving Benjamin any credit. The guy is a monster when utilized correctly. Zay can certainly turn it around in year two. People gotta remember this is still a run first team. Next offseason will be a fun one with all of the cap.
  8. There are plenty of success stories of rookies playing right away. There is no tanking going on, only rebuilding. There is a big difference. You can still win while rebuilding a team and that's exactly what they did last year.
  9. Mccoy, Clay, Benjamin are better than people give them credit for, they weren't healthy last year. Jones could turn it around. They are still going to rely on Shady to carry the load, it's not like the QB has to do it all. Plus, we have a top ten defense IMO. A solid running game and a solid defense will be enough for this year. We can reload the offense next year...trust the process, it takes time to build a contender.
  10. There are so many factors that go into a completion percentage and everyone puts it on the QB. The offensive line and receivers need to do their jobs as well, Wyoming didn't provide much support at all as opposed to the other QBs that were drafted in the top 10. The odds were stacked against Allen when he was at Wyoming, here he has some weapons.
  11. I like Allen too. I think he just needs to play with better talent. He was trying to do way too much and his numbers got out of wack because of it. I think he will be just fine in the NFL. If he had been on USC or any of the big schools, he'd be a number 1 pick without question.
  12. I never like Rosen. Don't think his ceiling is very high at all and he doesn't fit what we are trying to do at all. Why would they take him? Honestly though, why did people think he fit in Buffalo? It is not certain Rosen will get the job done. Just because he was from a big school and played fairly well doesn't mean he will be any good. He had talent all around him and what did they win? Everybody craps on Allen for playing on a nobody team but how is Rosen any better? They were an average team with him. Allen was Wyoming. Rosen would have been a square peg trying to fit into a round hole in Buffalo. Fair enough but Rosen is not like Kelly in many ways. Pretty boy in how he acts not what he looks like...yes Kelly was like that to start but he became Kelly we love today. Allen is already that type of guy. He doesn't need to change. Rosen reminds me of Leaf a bit. Can't wait to see if he starts screaming at a reporter. Unless he does a 180, I am not a Rosen fan at all.
  13. And I'm saying Rosen isn't a sure thing either. Just because his numbers are better doesn't mean he will translate to the NFL better. It's more than the field, it's the locker room and a lot more responsibility. I don't think he is a good leader, he's an as$hole and I think he'll rough some feathers at some point. He's also fragile with concussion question marks. I'll take a little mechanics issue over a guy with head injuries. We need a tough guy in this city, not a pretty boy. That's not what this city is. Jim Kelly defined Buffalo, we need another guy like that. Someone who embraces the weather. We missed out on Big Ben last time, I'm glad we didn't make that mistake this time.
  14. Rosen has high risk in his injuries and locker room risk...all of them have risk, just different types of risk.
  15. NO QBS ARE SAFE FROM COLLGE!! How can anyone say they are after all the sure thing busts that have happened and the surprise nobody's that become hall of famers. Nobody knows!
  16. I stopped reading after the first guy said he won't be successful because of his stats. The stats argument is for the lazy people who don't care to look at game film
  17. And why they didn't get to reload the offense. Don't know why people are complaining about the offense. We reshaped a lot of the roster and have a ton of cap and nine draft picks next season, we aren't gonna magically become a contender in one season. It takes time.
  18. Ah true, thank you I forgot about them. They made the right move by going with Tremaine and some later picks. I really like Neal, I think he has a lot of potential to be used as a nice depth piece.
  19. They didn't have a lot of cap space and there really wasn't a very good offensive line FA or draft class. Two players retired somewhat out of the blue. There weren't many options available so some journeyman will be playing this year. We will address it next year. We fixed most of the front 7 and drafted our franchise QB and got depth in the secondary. That is a ton for one offseason. Can't get everything in one offseason, it just doesn't work that way.
  20. Yes, that was my point. Allen is better suited for this team and what we are trying to do. I really want to see the connection of Allen to Benjamin. That's got some special potential. The Rodgers comparison is due to Allen's traits. He's mobile and throws very well outside the pocket deep down the field. Aaron Rodgers does this better than anyone in the league and I think Allen has that potential at his best if he ever makes it there. He's so young and has much to learn but I think he is coming into a great situation. He'll have a solid defense and running back to start with and Benjamin and Clay are very talented but weren't utilitzed enough with Tyrod. Zay is young and has something to prove and O'leary has some nice hands for a second tight end. Mccoy is perfect for a young QB, we wouldn't have to rely on the rookie for every point. If Allen becomes anything close to his potential...this team will be back in business.
  21. I just ran the numbers on the draft pick value chart and 16 is worth 1000 and 56, 65 and 71 added up to 840. I get that it's three players but I think you are underestimating how valuable a mid to high first round pick is worth. Edmunds was considered a top 10 player at a need position. You could probably even add more value to that 1000 because of who we got. They made the right move.
  22. Speedy linebackers with open tackling lanes...that's McDermott's dream.
  23. I'd think we will see a lot of Lawson on 1st down since he's better against the run and a lot more of Hughes in obvious passing situations. We have the depth, play to the players strengths. I think Murphy can play on both sides and I see Phillips being able to play both spots in the middle as well.
