Keep adding young fast linebackers. Can't have enough of them. Their development is huge to the success of the defense.

Goodwin has played one good season. He never looked like a regular with Buffalo. It will take a few years to see how everyone turns out but right now, Dawkins looks like our LT of the future and White looks like a shutdown corner and Milano is playing like he'll be an important piece in the middle of the defense. Time will tell but as of right now I believe it's better than the 2013 class.

We really don't have too many other options and he's a young kid. At least he's getting open. Seems like fans here want to cut everyone who has a bad game or couple games. Players and coaches can improve. Leslie Frazier is a shining example of that today.

Allen is a budding superstar

Yeah, I remember our QB debates. I loved watching Allen in college. His team was garbage around him and he still found a way to win. So many looked at the stats but that means nothing in college. He's a competitor. He will do whatever it takes to win. I'm happy to see his leadership abilities coming through already. He shut some people up today. So happy for him but he needs to continue to grow as the year goes on and look at the film and listen to his coaches. His future is so bright. -
Josh Allen: Between the Ears

Well Big Ben has rings to show for his competitive nature as well. So does John Elway. Sometimes you have to show your teammates what you are willing to do to win to get them to step it up as well. I'm not saying it was smart, just saying it can work in his favor. Plus, he's a big kid. He's not Jimmy G size. He can take a hit and get back up. It's part of the advantages of having a bigger QB. -

Though he should never do it again, his leap over Barr showed his teammates that he's willing to give it everything he has to win. That's gotta motivate his teammates. Now that it is clear this guy is a competitor and will leave 100% out on the field, others will start to follow. Looks like a leader to me. -
Where Did That Pass Rush Come From?!

When things are going poorly, fans are looking for someone to blame. Star was pushing the pocket out there as well. Hopefully, they can keep up it up. -

Milano needed to show his first year wasn't just a few good games and has he stepped it up. He looks to play a huge role in this defense moving forward. Good for him -

Way too early to declare him anything but I will say, everyone needs to stop looking at college players stats and watch them actually play the game. One look at the stats and everyone immediately threw him in the garbage -

Sometimes it takes a bit for a defense to click. A lot of new faces in the front seven and they clicked really well today. Maybe Star won't get all the tackles but helping other players get advantages is his specialty. Very happy to see how MIlano has played so far this season. Strong performance today. -

There's a reason why I hate when fans look at a kid's college stat line and come to a conclusion about how talented he is. Hope he continues the momentum into next week. -

Apologies, Timmy had 4 more tackles haha. -

It's been two games and we switched defensive play callers in the second half and gave up 3 points. Star has a rookie and a second year player behind him. It's gonna take some time until everyone gels. Patience. -

We had two rough games as a defense. That being said, Timmy Jernigan had the same number of tackles as Star last year and only one more sack and got a 4 year 48 million dollar deal. Star was right there with the others. His job was to free up Luke Keuchly. It's not a flashy job but he did it well. -

A lot of fans stare at the stats column too much -

Apologies, their contacts: Timmy Jernigan 4 year contract $48 million with a $10 million dollar signing bonus and $24 million guaranteed. Dontari Poe 3 year contract $28 million with a $10 million dollar signing bonus and $13 million guaranteed. Snacks 5 year $46 million with an $8 million dollar signing bonus and $24 million guarunteed. Star's contract 5 year $50 million with a $13 million dollar signing bonus and $24,650,000 guaranteed. As for his tackles, stats for a guy whose job is to free up the linebackers will be non-existent. His success results in the success for the linebackers, not in the stat column. Exactly -
2018 Bills free agents not good
The Now Moment replied to remembersthegoodtime's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As if the defensive line wasn't a big need? Can't fill all the holes in one offseason. Teams find placeholders at a lower price until they find the right player for their scheme and team. Were we supposed to hold off while players got signed to see if he got released? I can't imagine what this board would have done if we had waited for him and he signed somewhere else and we ended up with nobody. -

His job is to open up lanes for linebackers. He does that by eating blocks, not making the big tackle. If you want the DT who makes the big play in the backfield on a consistent basis, you'll have to pay more than that. -

Not that cut and dry. An NFL career is short. He is 28 and wanted to play for a contender, I don't blame him. He is still making a solid chunk of change, so why shouldn't he choose a contender for a little less cash. Plus, being in LA in his twenties over being in Buffalo...there's a bunch of factors. Some players aren't all about the money. -

Actually, that seems to be about the going rate for space eaters. Dontari Poe makes $9.33 million annually, Timmy Jernigan makes $12 million a year and Damon Harrison got a 5 year deal for $46 million. The salary cap is expanding and contracts are getting bigger. -

The jury is still out?? THEY'VE PLAYED IN TWO REGULAR SEASON GAMES! Of course the jury is still out. It'll be out for a few years. Does anybody have any patience anymore? They need time to develop. All rookies do. Especially Allen and Edmunds who are very young.
