Thoughts on not making Anthony Lynn our HC?
The Now Moment replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like McDermott. Give Mcdermott an offense. -
Well almost everyone on the defense is under contract and our young players developing will certainly help make them better...so. They will not be number one because you say so? Because history says so? History is broken every day. Stop saying can't and won't, those are the words of a quitter who doesn't have what it takes to be different and make history

Start Josh Allen (healthy) or Matt Barkley?
The Now Moment replied to TonyBeets's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The year was always about Allen's development, if you wanted him to start this season then you want him in ASAP. If you were on the side of him sitting all year, then you want him out. Pretty simple. -
He really has done a great job. We've gotten the best you can really expect out of Hughes, Williams and Alexander at their ages and I have to give him some credit. It's exciting to see those plays when he gets a double team and still gets a push. I like watching him from snap. Especially on run plays.

Have you been watching the games recently? The reason this defense gives up most of their points is because of our offense putting them in garbage situations or a pick six. They held the Pats and Pack to mostly field goals and with any offense we could have won those games. The defense is definitely a very good defense and it's led by our young talent so why wouldn't it improve? Plus with an improved offense, they will probably keep their intensity up and not let off themselves. The D absolutely dominated against Houston. All the fans complaining that we didn't take Watson and we made him look like a toddler with the ball out there. Nate gave up 14 points. Are you sure we are watching the same thing?
-
NO! We need movers. Mills is in no way coming back in as a starter next year. Next year is a big step for the offense as a whole but I think there will definitely be changes up front. Can't be satisfied with average line play if you have a young QB and want to become a contender.
-
You have to realize what he was brought here to do. Nobody is asking him to get 7 sacks, nobody is asking him to live in the backfield. He is there for those young linebackers so they can develop and he's done his job. Fans drive me nuts when they just stare at the stats line and then complain because he doesn't show up. Watch the game and understand what is happening. As for the DE position, it will always be a rotation...we knew this from day 1.
-
The defense end situation will always be a rotation. If you are familiar with how he likes to play the big fellas up front, the rotation keeps everyone fresh. There are some holes on that side as well as a some age but the offense should definitely be the priority. We've watched Dawkins develop into our future LT. Zay Jones has developed a lot this year and hopefully continues to get better, looking like he could be a solid 2 option. Teller is getting his chance now and looked solid yesterday. Those extra 4th and 5th round picks could turn out to be impact players if they keep drafting the way they are drafting...Johnson, Milano and now potentially Teller. Get ready for another big roster turnover offseason, this time on the offense.

3-7 and staying optimistic

Of course we'd all love to win every game but this is a rebuilding team that is super young and they just aren't there yet. Zay having 8 catches and a tuddy is exactly the kind of performance we've been waiting for from him. He's been gaining confidence as the year has gone on. Pleased with his ability to play through all the bs. Fans almost wanted him gone last year. -

Well I think there is a reason some fans don't like this regime because they like to build their own team through the draft and we haven't exactly drafted well in a very very long time. Building through the draft takes a lot of hits in the later rounds as well as 1st rounders. So I get where they are coming from but this regime is proven showed they can draft and develop talent on both sides of the ball so far. There have been fewer picks on offense but Jones, Dawkins and Teller have all progressed so far. Can't wait to see more of Teller. He is exactly the type of player I want next to Dawkins. Zay Jones is could end up with 500-700 yards and a few TDs this year, a year of eratic QB play. That's really encouraging. He's not a number one receiver by any means but he looks like a Robert Woods type contributor. Someone we've missed. They did and Peterman outperformed him in preseason. It's easy to look back on and complain but Peterman was playing better than him at the time. This is a development team that's got a top defense and just put up 41 points with a lot of young players stepping up. You are allowed to have some positivity when you see players developing. -

Because their back up QB sucked in replacement of the starter who got smashed on a late hit? Please. Allen was 2-2 as a starter don't forget. Our record would be different with Allen in the whole time. -

Top picks aren't automatic star players. Plenty fail every year. Late first round picks sometimes outplay the top picks. Say hi to Tre White. It's not all about where you pick. Plus if they win a few games here that means our young guys must have continued to take steps forward. Why tank? -

Daboll doesn't look so bad now does he? We got to see again what happens when we execute the gameplay on offense. We saw a bit of it in Minnesota too. -

Are Elite Defenses on Brink of Extinction?
The Now Moment replied to HumbleAndHungry's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I believe they are trying to but it's easier to start a rookie QB's career on the back of a potential future HOF running back's last few years. Allen can develop without so much pressure so yeah they don't throw the ball as much but once Allen gets there, I think that Daboll wants to throw the ball more. He just needs more talent to work with. Next offseason is huge -

If you can't take any positives out of this team you don't quite understand what this year was all about from the beginning. Hink: we have a lot of young players at key positions...development year is correct! The team lost a couple of solid offensive lineman in the offseason. Tough to replace that in one year. Teller looked great today...developement! The defense has a ton of young players on it and they are currently ranked 1 or 2 in yards allowed per game. Take a second and be happy at the positives of this team looking forward. It's NEVER been about this year but this year is an extremely important one for the young players to develop. It will be interesting to see if they can build around Allen now. Next offseason will be another exciting one. -
A few young guys had impressive days out there. I know the Jets are a mess but to see Foster finally connect was awesome. 100 yard game out of a speed receiver is what this offense has been waiting for. Zay Jones had his best day in a Bills uniform and has shown drastic improvement since last year. Teller had a really encouraging first start showing his power with a pancake block. The offensive line as a whole was better with a little shake up in personnel. Marcus Murphy had a solid day. Of course Milano keeps killing it out there and Dion Dawkins looking like a dancing bear with the fluid hips on his tuddy. Shaq looking like the first round DE that we envisioned. And Edmunds having a solid first year. White...nuff said. Sometimes a win over a ***** team is all it takes to give a young team their confidence back. The young players that have shown success so far is really impressive to me. The drafting just seems to look better and better as the weeks go on. Hopefully we get to see more Allen out there and watch this young team develop over the next 6.

Shaq was solid against the run before, people didn't' give him the credit he deserved because his sack numbers weren't there yet. It takes time for defensive lineman to adjust. It's a major adjustment going from college offensive lineman to NFL offensive lineman. He has found his place in this defense and he needs to stay healthy the rest of the year and keep playing this well to cement it moving forward. I like the kid a lot but he needs to stay on the field. Many thought he was on his way out but it looks like he may be staying for a while now.

Notable Offensive Moves by McDermott

Did I say that we should have a terrible pass game? No, I said you still need to have a solid run game. -

Just because in the last two years one hasn't made it doesn't mean one can't. Before that there was at least a run first team in the super bowl for at least a handful of years straight. Running games are still important. Having a versatile runner who can catch too is very helpful. I'm for a balanced approach. There's situations in a game where you need both. Finding a balance is important for this team. -

Running the ball can still control games though. It doesn't matter if teams can score easier. Running the ball slows the game down and let's the solid defense put pressure on the opposing QB. Passing is certainly a necessity to some degree as well but running the ball still wins games too. BTW Of course we aren't where we want to be because we are still in the early stages of a rebuild! When Allen was in we were competitive. Injuries suck. -

Except defense and running teams have made it to the super bowl continuously over the last decade. Both styles work. -
Brandon Beane deserves to be fired tomorrow

Dude, you do know that the starting QB is out with injury...with him we were 2-2. Competitive. Of course our backup isn't playing as good as the starter. What did you expect?
