Oh Star, Where Art Thou
The Now Moment replied to Thriftygamer83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This isn't the NFL of 10 or even 5 years ago. With the cap space of all teams continuing to rise, players will ask for more money. It's not surprising. Baseball and basketball players get paid a lot more. Football is a much more physical sport and a bigger business, players should get more. Every position will be paid more money. I don't think we overpaid at all, especially considering the best at the position gets paid 135 million over 6 years with 87 million guaranteed. Star is getting paid less than half of that. He's a space eater, nothing more. Hard to be a player that's job doesn't show up in the stats column in the biggest statistical era ever. -
With Allen, I’m convinced he just needs more help

Why can't they? We have plenty of cap and draft picks to play. Robert Foster was an UDFA. We have shown we are willing to trade picks for players. I think you'll see a lot of new faces all over the map on offense. I honestly think players will want to play with Allen because of his potential. -
I think they could look into moving him to the outside but he's a young player with a lot of talent who did look better with Milano next to him. I can't express how young he is enough. He'd be a young junior in college this year. He's not there yet physically. Although he's a specimen, he doesn't know how to use his body just yet. Certainly something that can be taught but we are at a point right now where you certainly could move him to another position. He's such a raw player. He was always a project when we drafted him. He will indeed take a few years to develop. He reminds me a bit of Clowney. Big specimen who were just learning how to use their physicality. They didn't have to much in college because they were just better athletes than anyone else. The mental game was also a bit behind for him because he relied on his athleticism which you can't get away with in the NFL.

Shady benched for start of game?

I'm not so sure we get rid of him just yet. His salary is high sure but it's not like we are close to the cap. If we fix the problems to our line next year I'd still like to see him play lightening to a rookie running back's thunder. If he is a problem in the locker room or says I'm done, then you move on. He's a potential hall of famer and these young guys can learn a thing or two from him. That being said, his legal situation is upsetting and could be the ultimate reason he gets let go.
