Some thoughts on why we can't get over the hump
Buffalo03 replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
Who said we had no chance of winning. We were in the championship game. We scored 29 points. We only lost by 3. We made some mistakes that if we don't win, we probably would have won. We are good enough to beat any team I. The league when we are on. Unfortunately, yesterday we weren't You can make that argument for the 2 seed bye week but again, you didn't answer my question of had we had gotten to the Super Bowl this year which was entirely possible, would you make the same argument because we were one win away. And we lost by 3 points -

Only issue with this is, as this year showed. We won 13 games. We could have easily won 14 if we wanted to actually play starters and try against the Patriots the last game of the season. Even with that 14 wins, we still wouldn't have gotten a first round bye because the Chiefs won 15. We have won 13 games 3 times the last 5 seasons and all 3 times we missed out on the number 1 seed because the other teams had 14. It's not simple. Asking a team to win 14 or 15 games a year just to get the 1 seed is too difficult. Even the Chiefs only won 11 games last year in the regular season -

This team is plenty good enough. They just make the most mistakes when it matters most. They have to fix that. I honestly think this team can beat anyone in the league when they are on their game. Yesterday they weren't. I ask you again, had they have gotten to a Super Bowl and won it this year with this same roster, would you make the same argument? -

You can't compare life situations to sports. They are 2 totally different things. And also I still think you're wrong when you say we aren't close. You're wrong. We are very close. Let me ask you something. We were win away from a Super Bowl. We scored 30 or more points 13 times and over 40 points 5 times. All we to do had was win this game and it's 50/50 that we win a Super Bowl. Now let me ask you, if we had won the Super Bowl this year with this same roster, would you be making the same argument? Because that is literally how close we were. The other thing to think about here is, football playoffs are only one game. If football was best of 7 like other sports, how many times do you think we could beat the Chiefs? 3? Maybe on another really good day 4? It's all about being better on that day. We were the better team in the regular season game. We didn't play like it in the playoffs. The fact that we can beat them in the regular season tells me in a best of 7, we could get them 3 or maybe 4 times. That's not way off. We also didn't have Benford after early in the game and no Rapp. Every single one of their players was healthy. There's a lot of factors that go into a one game single elimination game. It's not as simple as it sounds -

They aren't winning a championship period. But that's just because that's how it goes being a Bills fan. We had a head coach that had 4 straight shots with a HOF QB and still couldn't win a Super Bowl. We had a bunch of other regimes that couldn't win anything. We have McDermott who has gone to the playoffs in 7 out of 8 seasons with another HOF talent QB in Allen. What makes you think the next regime would be different? Hasn't our history alone been enough to make you realize it doesn't matter what we do? -

They only lost to Cincy once in the playoffs. KC has ended our season 4 times in the last 5 years. But outside of Burrow one time, no one else is getting past them either. That should tell you right there that it's not just us or as much of a talent thing. Mahomes and the Chiefs literally beat everyone. He is 18-3 in the playoffs with 2 of the losses coming to Brady. We make the playoffs every year. We have gotten to the Championship game twice. You don't do that if you're not good enough. We are a top 4 team every season going into the playoffs -

What makes you think Allen isn't all that great at reading defenses or presnap reads? He explains what he saw and the types of defensive looks he get in press conferences all the time -

We can't get over the hump because of the Chiefs. Plain and simple. But look at it this way, who else is getting past them besides Burrow one time? If the Chiefs were any other playoff team or had any other QB, then we would have been to at least 2 Super Bowls by now -

Are you gonna get this novel published? -
I still don't know how Kincaid didn't catch that
-
Name me a team with a franchise quarterback where this isn't the case?
-
I don't think there is that much of a talent gap. How many really good teams beat 3 or 4 really good teams in a row without dropping 1 or 2 besides the Chiefs? It doesn't really happen. We just made the AFC Championship game. We lost by 3 points and if not for stupid play calls we probably win that game. Think about it, we definitely could be in the Super Bowl right now and may have won it. And the only thing that stood in the way of that was one game but had we won it, we wouldn't be having this conversation. We are in good hands with Beane. You don't come one game away from the Super Bowl with an extremely far off talent gap
-
How many hits did he take this year?
-
I still don't really get the hate for Beane. We were literally just one game away from the Super Bowl. I swear we could actually win the Lombardi and fans would complain that he got his fingerprints on it and should have worn gloves. We will be fine with him as GM
-
I didn't see any egg on his face. Do you think he will still have egg on his face during the end of season press conference or will he wash it off?
-
Don't care. I'm tired of not having a pass rush. Do it
-
That's what I just said, yet, what happened? Did we get a trophy? No. We have nothing to show for it. It's perfectly good rationalizing if you actually understand what I was saying
-
Him or Myles Garrett. I don't care. For the love of God, spend the money and get one of them here. We need pressure on Mahomes and until we get a guy like this, it will never happen
-
Levy lost 4 straight Super Bowls. Every coach we have had until McDermott. Did nothing. McDermott himself has now made the playoffs in 7 out of 8 years on the job and still nothing. But you magically think that a bunch of different regimes, 2 of which have HOF QBs in Kelly and now Allen, are gonna all of a sudden take us to the promise land? How many more regimes do you need to see before you realize it will never happen?
-
Still cracks me up that we gave Mahomes to the Chiefs
Buffalo03 replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall
It still cracks me up that people don't realize that if the roles reversed and Mahomes was here and Allen was in Kansas that Mahomes would have nothing and Allen would have at least 2 rings -
I may actually not watch it. I have less than zero interest in it
-
Too good. Beane would rather waste another draft pick on a guy that gets 2 sacks a year

Von Millers name was not mention ONE TIME last night!
Buffalo03 replied to Returntoglory's topic in The Stadium Wall
Wow guys get held all the time? I didn't know that. And how often does even the best pass rushers get to the QB when they are held very badly? It significantly lowers their chances. He was held really bad a few times. Like literal arm bar around the neck held. But sure, that doesn't matter -

He also got extremely held a few times with no call but that's neither here nor there -
I've always said this. But no, like a lot of people say, a new coach and GM will fix it all like it did so many times before lol
