  1. Or if Flutie had gone on to do great things I would have to eat crow too.
  2. I was at the Colts game the last game of that year and I thought Johnson looked like a stud. Of course it didn't turn out that way but against the Colts he was impressive and I was very happy when he got the start against Tennessee.
  3. I think that Flutie had some good years but looking at it 1999 probably wasn't his best: 75.1 passer rating 19 TD's - 16 INT's 6.6 YPA Bills averaged just over 19 points per game Those are not good numbers. The one number everyone points to: 10-5 win-loss record. However, the defense gave up a total of 110 points in those 10 wins. 11 points allowed per game is nice support. In contrast which QB in Bills history had this stat line?: 84.9 passer rating 19 TD's - 14 INT's 7.1 YPA Team averaged 18.75 points per game Hint: It's 2006 JP Losman I think that Flutie wasn't great in '99 and it made this decision much easier. As for winning the game going away I don't think Kelly in his prime wins that game going away. He might win it but let's remember the Titans were a 13 win team that year not a bunch of stiffs.
  4. Opinion stated as fact is still opinion.
  5. Not sure I understand this one. Maybe you meant starting Johnson over Flutie in general but in this instance when Rob Johnson walked off the field for the last time that day he was ahead.
  6. Hey, this stuff happens. Remember when Brett Favre meant to send Jen Sterger a picture of the bratwurst he was cooking on the grill?
  7. Just a "Gay Caballero" trying to enjoy a night out.
  8. Hey, so was Zay's!
  9. When I'm wearing these shorts and this harness I don't feel as though I'm appreciated.
  10. At least he got the right "too".
  11. He has an unpaid position with Waste Management. He is VP of his home recycling. Apparently it's a prestigious appointment.
  12. Browns announced weeks ago that Tyrod's the starter. If they have a winning season Mayfield's gonna be watching it from the bench.
  13. I've acknowledged Carr and Harrington already as I'm sure you've read. Locker and RGIII are vastly more complicated examples. Locker wasn't asked to start immediately and didn't actually see playing time until Matt Hasselbeck was hurt. RGIII started immediately and was great but never the same after his injury.
  14. Absolutely agree. His physical skills were pretty well shot.
  15. Manning and Elway were 2 of lucky ones that got to go out on top. For most QB's in their late 30's and early 40's the game quits them before they quit the game.
  16. This is a reasonable way to address the QB situation at this point. I think what the Browns did by announcing Tyrod as the starter weeks ago was asinine. What are you going to do if Mayfield comes in and lights it up in camp and preseason (which is presumably what you thought he might do when you took him#1)? I think they're potentially setting themselves up for turmoil. They should just let it play out like the Bills.
  17. Guys say stuff like this to make themselves look big. Most of the time you just come off looking small. This didn't need to be said.
  18. There are QB desperate teams every year. 10 teams are set, 10 are OK and 12 would sell their soul to draft a franchise QB.
  19. This is a good point. After I posed my question I got a few very good responses. Those players cited seemed to have one thing in common which was they pretty much went to bottom feeder teams that did not have any plan in place to develop them.
  20. These are all reasonable responses. As I said, this was a sincere question.
