I liked the Giants from when there was the AFL and NFL. They had a DB named Carl Lockhart whose nickname was spider. I thought that was cool and he was usually the only pro bowl player they had on some bad teams. A little later I liked to watch Harry Carson. This was evev before they got Lawrence Taylor. Later they also had a local kid, Phil McConkey, who played for them after he graduated from the Naval Academy. I think he did his 2 years in the Navy or maybe the reserves but he fulfilled his obligation and played a few years. I didn't like it when they beat the Bills in the Superbowl but otherwise I still have a little bit of a soft spot for them.

Food for thought; if people say an NFL franchise QB makes the players around them better, wouldn't this be true in college also? I'm not necessarily knocking Allen but I don't think the number of prospects should be used like some people do to diminish what the other QB have accomplished.

Whether or not the weather in Buffalo is a factor, can easily be resolved. Build a dome stadium. Then we can move on to threads about whether or not QBs playing in domes can play well in away games after October.

For what it's worth; There were more rounds then, however there were 28 teams drafting not 32. There were also not compensation picks added back then. An equivalent number of players drafted back then as compared to today would be 8 to 9 rounds. If you want to compare based on rounds 8 to 9 is more accurate. An exact number is difficult because the number of comp picks vary each year.

We potentially could if we used the 2nd to draft a DE rather than trade for one. Build through the draft until we are a player or two away from contending.

What about Brady? Who thinks he would have as good a game? Who thinks he might throw a pick or two? Maybe the Eagles get a couple of sacks or the Patriots Online gets called for a couple of holding penalties. Why assume the Eagles would play different but the Patriots wouldn't.

Even if you could get an identical player with a 4th, why, bother. Give him another year and see what happens. Our draft scouts will be busy enough evaluating talent for the picks we do have. Why divert scouting focus to find a replacement for a player we already have.

I agree. We got Benjamin so we could try to make those plays. Without the OPI it's just an incomplete pass and we get at least 2 tries to pound it in. Not Dennison or Tyrod on this particular play.

Thanks for the explanation. I'm not sure I would like Dennison's offense even with a better QB. A lot of QB decisions coming during free agency and the draft. Go Bills!

I'm hoping he'll be there in the 10 - 15 pick range and we can use some draft picks to get him and still have some to build the OL.

What QB do you think is right for a Rick Dennison offense?

Jim Kelly was a 1st round pick, #14 in 83. He was the third QB drafted. I think there are potentially 4-5 very good QBs in this draft. I think we ought to be able to get one without giving up much if any draft capital. I'd rather do that than give up alot and end up with a bust. If it doesn't work out we can try again in 2019 but at least we should get some good players this draft.

Nice idea but I think free agency happens before the draft. Maybe if Bills "promise" they will draft a WR and an O lineman they could entice him to come to Buffalo.

I think there will be 5 - 6 very good QBs in this draft especially if Darnold comes out. Potentially 2-3 franchise qbs. I pretty much agree with your analysis of who will draft a QB. I think our best chance to trade up is with Indy or Tampa. SF and Chicago will want too much to move up. We still need to keep some higher picks to address other holes.
