Did RW order that RJ get the start vs the Titans?
Dawgg replied to nfreeman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah that'll do wonders for a coach's career. Quit on his team right before a wild card playoff game due to a disagreement with an owner. -
Did RW order that RJ get the start vs the Titans?
Dawgg replied to nfreeman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is a fact. Ralph overruled Wade. When Wade Phillips was DC for Atlanta, he lived literally 3 houses down from my aunt/uncle. I met him during my visit and spoke with him about it. He admitted that it wasn't his choice to start Rob Johnson and one of the main reasons he was fired was that he wanted to start Flutie the next year and Ralph wanted to start RJ. I think it was a matter of Ralph wanting to see what hisi $25MM investment could do. -
There's a lot of talk already about how Moulds is on the decline and this is his last year as a Bill. While the former may be true, I certainly hope the latter is not because he has proven year after year to be a team-first guy, unlike many other star receivers out there. Snippet from an article on BB.com: One player that has helped Losman develop this offseason would be veteran receiver Eric Moulds. Moulds, who like Losman spent a great amount of time at the team's facilities this offseason, has helped J.P. learn both on and off the field. "It's been amazing to watch those guys work," Mularkey said. "Eric's been very impressive. And it's evident watching him. Assistant coaches or even coordinators can't always see it, but I constantly watch guys' body language, their actions on the field. I'm always evaluating not just the play, but are they paying attention on the sideline? Are they first in line?' Just the little things. You can see that Eric has probably helped J.P. progress just by his support."

Who here thinks that Evans will have
Dawgg replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not so sure it will. If money was his primary motivator, Moulds would have been out of here a long time ago. Back when he was a free agent and his rookie contract was up, McNabb and several Eagles players begged him to come to Philly during the Pro Bowl on an all-out recruiting pitch. They were ready to offer significantly more than Buffalo. Instead, he stuck around and signed a reasonable deal with the Bills. He has been a pretty team-first guy throughout his tenure here and I would personally hate to see him go. Yes, Lee Evans is almost ready to assume the #1 WR role, but Moulds presence alone has tangible value to this team. I am assuming he will work something out with the team at season's end. TD has even been on record saying numerous times that he expects EM to retire a Bill. Let's hope that happens because he has blossomed form a punkass to a hard working, classy player. He's not perfect, but he's a true Buffalo Bill. -
I do feel that the situation with Henry is way overblown. Yes, he voiced his opinion after McGahee was drafted and when pestered by reporters, he said the job is his and he expects to start for this team. He also said that he refuses to be a backup in this league. But for the most part, Travis took the high road. Numerous times he said to the media that while he doesn't like his role, he will accept what the coaches tell him... he never quit on this team. Ask any Bills offensive lineman and they would jump in front of a moving truck for Travis... they absolutely adored him and loved the fact that he was a warrior on the field and played like one. And trust me, if you're a team cancer, you will make enemies on the Line (see Randy Moss). Travis was playing for the team he grew up rooting for, put up 2 solid seasons, and made 1 Pro Bowl. He was just personally hurt when the Bills drafted McGahee. As fans, we can see the logic in the draft choice. Not so sure we'd be so understanding were we in his shoes. I personally don't want a player on my team who gives up his starting position with grace, especially when he's relatively young. This is a cut-throat league with great competition and you want guys who have that desire and believe that they should be a starter. Travis voiced that desire, but was never a cancer (as many on the board like to harp)... however, if he stayed on the team this year, it would have been a different story.

THANK YOU. Finally, someone on this thread who sees it the way I see it.

Very interesting analysis, although it is kind of a self fulfilling prophecy in the sense that better teams (with better records) tend to have stronger surrounding personnel, which usually lends itself to better RB performance. For instance, during New England's Super Bowl run, Antowain Smith looked like a stud and a large portion of his performance can be attributed to his surrounding talent. Still, I see the correlation. Interesting. Thanks

He has been in the league 4 years. His rookie season was pretty average and can be considered a wash since he was a rookie and he played on an abysmal 3-13 team. The next two seasons were solid, one of them being a Pro Bowl year. His last season, something was just off... and he was fighting some injuries. Despite how it sounds, I'm not an apologist for TH. That said, 2 good seasons out of 4 isn't that bad. He's not a star, but characterizing him as dime-a-dozen is just plain ludicrous. Let's see what he does in Tennessee, I suppose.
-
Typo. Meant to be 1400... but same point nevertheless.
-
Dime-a-Dozen backs don't rush for 1500 yards in this league. Nor do they make the Pro Bowl. He can't block and he's not the sharpest tool in the shed -- but the man can move the chain and break tackles. Far from a dime-a-dozen back. Joe Burns? Dime-a-Dozen. Shaud Williams? Dime-a-Dozen. Rashard Lee? Dime-a-Dozen. Travis Henry? Far from it. As is always on this board, former Bills are always trash, current Bills are worth more than gold.

Whatever. Willis is almost as dumb. Have you heard his interviews? We're splitting hairs here.

I think Kodak has been doing reasonably well in the digital camera space. Their camera sales have been solid -- solid enough to maintain a sustainable business out of it. Their EasyShare technology was a relatively big hit with novice users and the quality is generally good. Granted they aren't as good as Sony, the quality is good. Where the problem lies is that they grossly underestimated the speed at which film would decline. Whereas they expected film to be out of the picture maybe 5 years from now... film is gone and it is gone now. That is the problem.

Benchmark testing is based on real use

I respectively disagree. Apple's OS X dramatically outperforms Windows computationally, funcionally and graphically. There is no debate. The operating system is built on top of a rock solid unix kernal and its graphical interace is second to none. Put it side by side with Windows XP and there's no comparison. The G5 processor is faster than pretty much any Pentium out there on the market. It's not all that close, in the last benchmarks I have seen. From a price point perspective, the new Imac G5 can be had for 1200-1300. That will outperform any PC that one can purchase for that price.

You don't know what you are talking about. Define outperform. I am in the computer industry and feel that Macs are superior (and no I'm anything but a hippie)

I wasn't advocating signing him, fyi.

I used stubhub for Bills-raiders tickets last season and it worked out great. I have nothing but good things to say.

I do think on this premise that AKC tends to get carried away and is quick to belittle others' intellect when their opinion differers from his own. A classic case study of this is the wonderful topic of Drew Bledsoe -- but I have also come to realize that it is his style and it is something that comes with the territory.. not a big deal to me anymore. That said, I don't feel that "respected" posters are those with thousands and thousands of posts. Some of us simply don't have the time to be on the board posting once every 30 minutes. I have been on this board for 6 years as a regular contributor but only have 800 posts to show for it. Dammit!

If Henry Doesn't have the Good Sense
Dawgg replied to BuffaloBob's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. I would rather keep Travis Henry and have a solid insurance policy rather than give him up for a low draft pick. I'm sure there's a way Mularkey can involve him in such a way that he is an integral part of the team and can showcase his skills to potential free agent suitors in 2006. He's a solid athlete, breaks tackles and can spell McGahee for rest and in case of injury.
