Jerry Sullivan responds to my e-mail

They absolutely do. LennyP and Donahoe are best friends from their Pittsburgh days (LP is from Pitt) and Mortensen has grown close to Donahoe after his year off at ESPN. -
OMG when will this CRAZY TALK end??? I read post after post by fans who claim to be "true fans" by wanting to throw this season away for the future -- and it is probably the stupidest notion I have ever heard on this board. The Bills are bigger than one player, bigger than any single developmental project. Would getting to the playoffs and presumably losing in the first round make me happier than if we missed the playoffs and got JP some time to play? HELL YES IT WOULD! Why, might you ask? Has anyone realized the culture that has been fostering in Buffalo ever since Tom Donahoe took over? It is a culture of losing. A culture of being complacent with the fact that the franchise is headed in the right direction. To put it mildly, that's a bunch of horseschittt. One playoff bound season would instill hope in the team -- from the veterans on down. Sometimes, you need to taste the playoffs and lose before you can learn how to win. We don't need any high draft picks. You saw where that got us with Mike Williams. What we really need is culture change. We need a winning atmosphere and yes, a first round playoff loss would far surpass yet another developmental year. And despite what you may believe after reading this, I am a true fan.

Allen Wilson, Len Pasquarelli, Chris Mortensen, and to an extent even Mark Gaughan. -
The best thing about this TO debacle....
Dawgg replied to The Poojer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's a stretch. Rosenhaus is the best agent in the NFL, hands down. If I were a player, I would want him representing me because it is clear that he puts his heart and soul into his job -- representing his clients. He doesn't care about what other people think about him... the bottom line is that NFL GMs listen to him and his clients love him. To me, that's the sign of a good agent. You imply that his job is to keep TO in line. That's nonsense. You think Rosenhaus would have advised TO to make those comments in the media that got him in to trouble? Of course not! There's only so much he can do. He can dispense advice, but it's up to the player whether or not to listen. -
Why Jerry Sullivan is a dick. Reason #235
Dawgg replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Again, you've got no idea what you are talking about. McKinnie held out because the Vikes lowballed him. He was picked at #6 overall, but they were offering him money that was less than the #7 pick. It was that simple. Tom Donahoe, on the other hand, opened the floodgates for Mike Williams and paid him like a true #4 pick. It doesn't take a sophisticated cost-benefit analysis to determine the outcome. -

Could not have said it better myself. (We agree this time) haha -

Question for you, Todd (and everyone else)... how about the flip side? Those journalists (and there are quite a few) who just constantly drink kool-aid and write fluffy, glowing articles about every single move the Bills make? They aren't all that balanced either. Are they a-holes? -
This is the funniest post I have ever read. THE funniest. And no, TeddyB jokes do not get old. They never do!!!!!
-
I actually think Rosenhaus is one of the better agents out there and from the Bills perspective, he and Donahoe seem to get along really well. He understands that players need to report to camp and unike dickheads like the Potson brothers who will keep their clients in a holdout for as long as necessary, Rosenhaus actually gets his clients in on time.

It's more complicated then being 1 game out
Dawgg replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have been all for KH, but this is the first argument that could convince me otherwise. Good post. -
I think JP gives us a good chance to win now.
Dawgg replied to Fan in San Diego's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You can't have it both ways. You argue the Bills called more running plays with KH than with JP. Then you argue that moving the chains doesn't mean s**t unless we punch it in. Don't be stupid here. When JP was going 3 and out every time he got his hands on the ball, the offense couldn't get into a rhythm and they couldn't call as many running plays. Couple that with the fact that we weren't moving the ball, defenses were not respecting the pass at all, stacking players in the box. -
I can't believe I am going to admit this

Shhh... don't tell AKC this. -
who is gonna actually pay Owens next season?

San Francisco saw this. Since trading him, they are a whopping 4-20. Philadelphia saw this. They aren't nearly as good. So all of a sudden, the players feel better "emotionally" yet as a team, they are worse off. A team's success is measured by its wins and losses... bottom line, TO is more beneficial to his record than a detriment. In fact, without TO, the Eagles would have been blown out by New Bruschi (We're not worthy!) in last year's Super Bowl. -

Well to that, I'll answer: (a) You don't know exactly what happened. (b) He produces and makes the team better. Hugh Douglas is a punk in his own right. He's being awfully hypocritical because he held out for more money in Philly and never got it, signed with Jacksonville and was a total bust and came crawling back to Philly. He shouldn't be talking. Fights within the team happen all the time. They usually keep them in house, but this one leaked due to its broader implications. -

Destroyed? What exactly do you mean by "destroyed?" That some players' feelings are hurt because TO is a big jerk? Tell them to grow up and play football. Because that's what they're paid to do. If TO's selfishness has a detrimental effect on their record, then yes, everything they have done is justified. But last I checked, he not only helps them win games, he plays a major role in them. -
Hurting the team's chances at winning is not the right thing in my books.

I've never understood this anti TD movement
Dawgg replied to Mr. T's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There was no way AJ Smith was going to take the job. He and Butler were extremely close. In fact, upon Butler's dismissal, AJ Smith ripped the organization. It was already a forgone conclusion that AJ Smith would be gone. The cookie-cutter argument here is that Butler left this team in a salary cap mess -- an assessment I think has been largely over-exaggerated. These same people argue that Donahoe has put the Bills in a good cap situation. Where has it gotten the team? Nowhere near the Wade Philips - John Butler era. -

See that's where I see things differently. It's not about getting TO's head screwed on straight. It's about getting him to line up and play hard every Sunday -- something that has never been a problem throughout his career. While Moss takes plays off and openly brags about it, TO definitely comes to play week after week. He gives the Eagles a DRAMATICALLY greater chance at winning when he's on the field. With that in mind, who cares about what he has to say in some stupid interview? Is he a jerk? Absolutely. But a Lawrence Phillips he is not. Phillips had so many off-field problems, he could never perform on the field. NEVER. He never showed any signs of talent at the pro level. TO, on the other hand, has shown time after time why he's the best if not second best receiver in the game right now. He's electric and can change the game in one play... very few players can be described that way. And if I'm Andy Reid, if I'm anyone in the Eagles organization, I will do anything and everything I can to get TO to line up on Sundays and produce... sweat the small stuff and reap in the dividends of wins... because that's what this game is about. Winning the championship... I think it's a slap in the face to paying fans of the Eagles to "not" do whatever you can to enhance your chances to win. Case in point tonight, without TO they managed to lose a key divisional game against Washington. If TO was in there would they have won? I'd be inclined to say probably. -

Dawgg replied to trolls_r_us's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd take him in a second and do anything and everything I could to get him to perform. He's an awesome receiver, that's the bottom line... if I can get him at a reasonable contract, hell yeah I'd take him. 20 teams shied away from Moss in the draft and look where it got them. He's one of the most electric playmakers in the game. Would I want him to work for my company? Probably not... because it's rare that one employee can have a remarkable impact. But if it's my football team, I want him out there each and every Sunday. -
It would be sour grapes if he was not willing to move on from that call. But he simply said he didn't agree, but the he (and the team) had to live with it. Nothing wrong with mentioning what the Pats players said, it simply was to bolster his point. As for your expectation that players to stand up and be men in defeat, it's a wonderful, idealistic notion -- but far far removed from reality. How many times did "winners" like Thurman Thomas and Jim Kelly say things like "we lost but we're the better team." Certainly that's not taking defeat gracefully, but it's the competitive spirit that brings comments like that out. Moreover, I don't think Moulds' comments were uncolicited. He was probably asked what he felt and he simply answered the questions accordingly. Anyuway , if you think Moulds is a punk, especially in light of the TO situation, I guess we'll just respectfully disagree on this one because I do agree with everything else you have to say with regards to this team...
-
I never said anything about Pat Williams. I agree that PW should have been allowed to walk with the free agents coming up on this roster. But I really have a problem with supposed Bills fans who call Moulds out as a loser, whiner, or selfish player. How on earth can you be a Bills fan and not like Moulds as a player and what he brings to this team both from a leadership and credibility standpoint? I will never believe that he is up there with TO, Moss or Harrison. However, I do believe that his career has been dramatically marginalized due to sub-par QB play. Todd Collins Flutie Rob Johnson Alex Van Pelt Drew Bledsoe Stop focusing on the top 3 WRs in the game and think about the others who have displayed consistency. Joe Horn -- same offense for many years, same QB, same coach Rod Smith -- same offense, Elway and Plummer as his QBs Steve Smith -- Delhomme has proven to be a solid QB, same offense for past few years Look at Mason. He was one of the league's most consistent performers in Tennessee, where he had developed a chemistry with McNair over the years. Now that he is in Baltimore and in an anemic offense and subpar QB play, he is rarely heard from. In short, I find it hard to believe you are a Bills fan if you can't root for and appreciate what Moulds brings to the table. But that's probably just me...
-
Bruce Smith was clearly washed up. Ted Washington was injury prone. Talley retired and was washed up. Comparing Moulds at this stage in his career to those guys says a lot about you.
-
First of all, that type of contact happens quite often and more often than not, it gets by with no penalty. That aside, Moulds was asked after the game what he thought about the penalty and if he felt it was a bad call. His response? He didn't agree with it, but that was the call and he (and the team) must live with it. No disparaging remarks about the officials, no sour grapes. Just stated his opinion -- a far cry from "publicly blaming officials." If you want to look for a guy who acts like a punk, try Willis McGahee. Classifying Moulds as a punk is a stretch.
-
Stop ripping TO. Moulds is the selfish crybaby in this league.

Someone with some sense. Thanks.
