  1. Especially when Flutie made the Pro Bowl and was good for 3000 yards and 20 TDs a season. Not Peyton Manning, but not just a caretaker either.
  2. That's what you want to believe. If you want to look at it objectively, you will see that Flutie made timely plays that actually won games for the Bills -- winning scores in the fourth quarter, key first downs (on his legs), and managed to help Moulds get to the Pro Bowl. But go ahead, you can treat him like he was Trent Dilfer on the Ravens, but it's far from the truth... and Flutie made the Pro Bowl for a reason -- he made plays.
  3. Still smoking the crack after all this time? What tools? What talent?
  4. Minor detail: they wanted him for the vet minimum.
  5. Take a look at successful teams over the years: Philadelphia, Carolina, Atlanta, Denver, Indianapolis, New England They spend premium draft pics (e.g. first day picks) on their lines. Take laughingstocks such as Buffalo: They spend premium picks (e.g. first day picks) on such sill positions as tight end, wide receiver, and quarterback.
  6. I LOVE that the staff is proactively moving people up and down the depth chart like that. It's awesome to see some accountability. Jauron was a solid hire IMO.
  7. not Kyle Williams? http://www.buffalobills.com/depth_chart/index.html
  8. Exactly. The problem here is that coaches are just as egotistical and selfish as the players they fine. For Parcells to refer to him as "the player" and claim that he can't play him when he has never seen him play is just asinine. Shows that he's just as insecure and ego-centric as TO is. Grow up, realize he produces on Sunday and let him do what he does!
  9. Agreed, while I think this was arguably one of Donahoe's worst draft picks, especially at a time when the team was begging for help up front (on both sides of the ball), Parish should be given a chance to make an impact, be it on special teams or as a slot receiver. He is gifted with amazing speed... after all, once upon a time, our Bills were led by a "little guy" who did fairly well.
  10. Indeed, you are correct sir.
  11. Butler built a team in which the defense was absolutely dominant but special teams was always a concern. Nevertheless, his teams were playoff-caliber and were it not for the Homerun Throwback, might have gone to the Super Bowl. Did he have some poor drafts? Yes. Did he leave the team in a bad salary cap situation? Yes. But that happens to many teams who were trying to win in the short-term. San Francisco, Jacksonville, Tennessee all went through that.
  12. TD had the same luxury for 3-4 years. Instead of building the offensive line during the rebuilding years, he managed to screw it up bigtime. In addition to the obvious Mike Williams disaster, most of his draft picks at the position were marginal at best -- Marques Sullivan, Mike Picillo, Ben Sobieski, etc... add to that the journeymen he brought in like Bennie Anderson and Kris Farris, he really F'ed it up. It wasn't for a lack of trying though.
  13. Great post. Couldn't have said it better.
  14. Fair enough - but the point I'm trying to make is that those teams aren't hesitant to jettison veteran players in favor of younger players with greater potential. Carolina has replaced Tutan Reyes with Evan Mathis, their 3rd round pick from 2005. Also bear in mind that when the Bills signed Milloy, he was around 29 as well -- and I am one of the few who think Milloy played well for us. In any case, I'm pretty confident Ko will be starting before this season ends -- which I think is the right approach.
  15. If I didn't know any better, you are Troy's close friend or relative. Troy Vincent is a decent NFL player. He might even do a pretty solid job this year. But the fact of the matter is that the future of this team lies with the likes of Whitner and Simpson -- and both should start learning to play together sooner or later. Vincent serving as a mentor? This is a team that is young and inexperienced at most positions, it makes little sense to start someone on the downside of his career. The reason teams like Philadelphia, Carolina and New England content year after year is they replace aging players whose best seasons are behind them with young players with potential. The Eagles did this with Vincent, Pats with Milloy and Carolina with Tutan Reyes -- it's no coincidence that the Bills gobble up players like this, given their status as one of the few teams (aside from Arizona and Houston) to miss the playoffs the past 6 years. Vincent leading the team in fumble recoveries? PLEASE... you have this stat in your back pocket as the answer to all criticism directed at TV -- but it's hardly impressive given the abysmal performance of the D last year. Forcing a fumble is one thing... falling on it is quite another. Where I do agree with you is that Vincent should start the season as the starting free safety. By the bye, however, I fully expect Ko Simpson to assume the starting role.
  16. This is a young team. Ko is an up and coming player. He SHOULD be on the field starting in place of Troy Vincent. Hopefully the coaches realize it and he's in the starting lineup after the bye week.
  17. Agreed. This offensive line is a dam waiting to explode. While the starters are solid, if an injury were to happen, there is very little depth to be comfortable with.
  18. TKO is ready and he wants to play (despite what he says to the media). No need to worry there...
  19. Doubt it. He has been nororious for dogging practice, skipping meetings, and flat out getting hurt.
  20. Waste of a roster spot. Lindell's kickoffs are just fine.
  21. Just keep in mind that Ladanian Tomlinson spent his first few years in the league running behind a line that was even more putrid than the Bills' lines of the past few years -- but he racked up yardage hand over fist, and that's the bottom line. Willis has a lot to prove this year in terms of consistency and unlike previoius years, I don't think the O-Line is an adequate excuse.
  22. Agreed. Thomas just doesn't seem to have it anymore. From what I have seen of Shaud Williams and Lionel Gates, A-Train should be the one to go.
  23. Likewise.
  24. Justice will develop into a solid NFL tackle.
  25. ... actually a chocolate chip cookie would've been nice.
