Trent has the makings of a top 10 QB in the NFL. Let him play and he'll get there. I just wish the team signed a veteran backup who has won NFL games, one that Trent can actually learn from, rather than a Ryan Fitzpatrick.
-
And people wonder why Jason Peters is upset.
-
Hell just froze over. Well said.

Nice one. Anyone who knows football would agree that a QB's win loss record is "a" factor in evaluating his play. I'm having a deja vu moment... a few years ago, I was having a similar (drunken) argument with a "heavy-set" bearded man at Northstar... was that you???
-
A QB's win loss record is a reasonable factor (not the sole determinant) in evaluating his play. If you don't think there is a correlation between the player who touches the ball the most and the ultimate outcome of the game, you are kidding yourself.
-
Correlating wins and losses to the single player who touches the ball the most is far from a stretch.

Whitner "vows to file a lawsuit" over arrest/tasering.

Donte, Instead of filing a lawsuit against the cops, how about you shut your mouth for a change and raise your level of play on Sundays? Sincerely (and I know you're reading this), Dawgg -
If Peters stays, do we still draft for the O-line??
Dawgg replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm very weary of "dominant" players from Texas translating to the NFL. Here's hoping they avoid Orapko. I think this draft is very simple. If they decide to stay put at 11, take the best D-Lineman/O-Lineman/LB available not named Orapko. If for some reason Sanchez is available at 11, work the phones, find a desperate team, trade down for additional picks. -
I will reserve judgement until I hear all the facts fully laid out on Donte Whitner's Facebook page.

Per PFT: Bills Shopping Parrish
Dawgg replied to TheBuffaloBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Only the Bills would actively shop the game's best punt returner who is young and still under contract. Amazing. -
Are we splitting hairs here? Bottom line is that Lynch is a punk and he needs to be disciplined. I think it will be the best thing that happens to him in his career... clearly the lesson wasn't learned the first time when he got away scott-free. Perhaps it sinks in this time around. I love the man-love for Tim Graham when he writes puff pieces on the likes of Whitner and the perennially losing franchise that is the Bills. The moment he posts something remotely against one of our beloved players, the vitriol is free flowing.

I'd take an injury-prone Sanders over a "durable" Whitner 7 days a week and twice on Sunday.
-
Why did it hurt to watch Whitner get flattened by Sammy Morris? Here it is for your viewing pleasure. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yuh6G7MVsOQ That is based on his play on the field. Not based on your obsession with his Facebook profile P.S. Did you write on his wall yet? Did you tell him you loved him?
-
Would Polamalu get run over by Sammy Morris when he's in a perfect position to tackle him? Would Ed Reed whiff on an INT or get beat by Anthony Fasano? Would Bob Sanders stand around and watch an onsides kick dribble by him in a close, nationally televised game? No. I'm not discounting that Whitner doesn't have the benefit of a good supporting cast. That doesn't mean that his individual play cannot be evaluated. It can... and thus far, the verdict is not very good.
-
Quick answer: No, he doesn't.
-
I enjoy your posts Dave, I really do... you always bring a healthy dose of perspective. I hope that Whitner turns into a stud. If he does turn it around this year, I'll have to take some credit for it. Perhaps my posts lit a fire under his ass... he's clearly reading them and bothered enough by them to update his Facebook status

Great post. Fans like the Biscuit fall for it hook line and sinker!

Let's recap: By your "logic:" Since the Bills defense was statistically better than the Panthers defense last season, that means Chris Kelsay is better than Julius Peppers. Since the Bills defense was statistically better than the Arizona Cardinals defense last season, Poz is better than Karlos Dansby. To top things off, you're comparing Donte Whitner's stats to Bob Sanders Max already pointed out how stupid your comparison is. You don't know much about football.. but at least you're a typical fan - who ever said you had to think objectively? Have you bookmarked Donte's Facebook page? Did you write on his Wall? Maybe you "poked" him on Facebook.
-
True, that's the beauty of an internet message board. Even you have a pedestal on which to stand.
-
Step off your pedestal, pal. How often do you hit refresh while staring at Donte's Facebook page?
-
The question here is who got the better deal in the trade? Your points, while valid, don't change the ultimate outcome: that the trade was a disaster for the Bills and the Bears are the clear winners, even with the players they obtained.
-
Dear Donte, Make some plays and help your team win instead of missing tackles and getting beat by opposing tight ends. Sincerely, Dawgg

You have already shown you have no idea how to use statistics judging by your comparison of Sanders to Whitner when Whitner played in 19 more games. Now your latest brilliance takes team defense rankings and extrapolates that to individual player comparisons. I guess by your logic, since the Bills had a higher overall defensive rank than the Panthers, Chris Kelsay > Julius Peppers? Keep it coming... you still have yet to prove that this trade worked out in the Bills' favor. You also have yet to prove that Whitner has anything better than mediocre. Now that your Bob Sanders comparison has been shot down, you are gasping for straws.
-
Silly is pointing out that Whitner has the same stats as Bob Sanders when Whitner played in 19 more games. Silly is also pointing out that McCargo was a good selection when it was clear he was vastly overrated in college. Dusty Dvoracek might not be the best player in the world. But he comes at a price that's 1/8th of what McCargo costs and despite his injury history, he's still better than McCargo. Add to it the other player selected with a pick the Bills surrendered, Danieal Manning, who has started 30 games as a safety and has more forced fumbles, INTs, and more than twice as many passes defended than Donte Whitner. Oh and by the way, he's one of the game's best kick returners. Nice try pal, but that trade still works out in favor of the Bears. You were wrong then and you continue to be wrong now. The draft is a crap shoot for the Bills. For winning organizations, it's a tool to build a winning team. I too look forward to Whitner becoming an all-pro... but judging from his play on the field (not his Facebook posts), that will take a while. I'd be elated if the switch came on and he lit it up this year... but thus far, he has been nothing short of mediocre.

Wow. Thanks for fact checking. There goes that one point that Biscuit has been clinging onto. What's the next excuse?
