Exactly, small school to no football to the NFL. Still looks like a monster among children on the feild though, I like that. -

Are we underestimating just how great of a pick beane made on Bass? The dude is looking like he could be a star. -
Josh Allen: Contract extended through 2028
Norcalbillsfan replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
LJ lead his team, and josh lead his. Josh drove the feild and threw a td in a windy game when they needed. LJ drove the feild and threw a terrible pick with the game on the line. Not saying josh had an amazing game, but both qbs faced the same pressure on the big stage and weather conditions and one came out on top. -

It still blows my mind that we watched Allen and Jackson go head to head this year and Allen without question out duelled Jackson and people still argue jackson is better. -

I mean if someone finds a way to cycle rookie qbs and win in the passing league that is the nfl by all means sign me up. But until then we have to pay the Allen's and the mahomes a boat load of money. We all know Whaley signs him......but for more money and less years -

It is crazy, makes you wonder what a player like mahomes or Allen will sign for 10 years from now. -
Josh Allen: Contract extended through 2028

It does surprise me that many do criticize the deal. This day in age in the NFL you find an elite passing qb you have to pay him what he wants, there's no way around it. Commit to him and he Commits to the bills. If I was a ravens or browns fan I would be salty too, cuz the bar is set and neither qb has shown they are elite passers yet. But they are good enough to demand big contracts from qb needy teams. So they will get paid big while there's still question marks about them. -

Haven't had a guy near the potential as Allen to offer a contract too. But I agree things are well run, especially with the covid cap. -

Agreed, now the browns and ravens are sweating. They are gonna have to pay their qbs the same or probably more for guys that aren't showing as bright as a future as Allen. -
If it's a signing I hope it's CB2. I'm sorry unless ertz comes for cheap I don't think he brings that much to the table. Honestly I think speed out of the backfield was much more of a need than TE production and I think we quietly took care of that with brieda. So why spend way more money on what was less of a need?

We know no matter what the patriots will be tough belichick has been studying Allen and the offense all off season and will have an exact plan to slow down Allen. Though me personally I don't think running against Allen and the bills is the way to beat them. And I don't see belichick going that route. I see getting back to the Brady style quick slant routes that give up the 4-7 yards at a time that deflates the D until they give up the home run ball, with a decent accurate QB and stud TEs this is achievable. And play Allen tough knowing no matter what he's going to do something special and make plays but give Allen terrible feild position and stop him a few times and you beat the bills. I think this is the route belichick takes.

The 2014 WR Draft Class: How Does it Rank after 7 Years
Norcalbillsfan replied to folz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Obj is an excellent wr I will never argue that. But I feel his stardom was shot into the stratosphere when he made one of the greatest catches of all time on prime time tv and he propelled himself further with his swag and his famous hairstyle that every high-schooler copied for years. He's a great player but it's just funny how he still over shadows Mike Evans fame by miles when Mike Evans is having a hall of fame career and doesn't get nearly the recognition obj gets. -
I thought the possible trade up talk was for kwity when he kept sliding, just my opinion.

Bills 2021 Draft - Overall Assessment
Norcalbillsfan replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I guess we won't know if beane wanted Etienne or not, maybe he was the player they referred to the got picked before them, but it sounds like they wanted boogie pretty bad, he kept them from trading out. I dont think that it's they didn't believe in Rousseau, my opinion is beane wanted to get better at the edge rush and the bills love rotation on the line. And I won't doubt if Rousseau gets bounced all over the line on passing downs. I think beane sees a potential of just assaulting opposing QBs with rotating fresh athletic freaks that attack your line in different ways. And maybe most important to beane, premium positions all on rookie deals. -
Bills 2021 Draft - Overall Assessment
Norcalbillsfan replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Honestly this draft haul is tough to give a grade, most of these guys are "unlocked potential" so you really have to wait and see. Cuz if you grade it on immediate play time then this class could be an F. But in 3 years if just 2 of these guys reach their ceilings your talking about an A++. Imagine in 2 years and both Greg and boogie turn into the freaks they have all the tools to be. I wanted a CB2 pretty bad but beane obviously wanted a pass rush on rookie deals, and got stronger potential at OL. Can't complain there. -
I definitely see where you're coming from. My 2 cents on the pick is McBeane probably thought the drop off in talent at edge after Rousseau/Tyron was drastic, Hughes has maybe a year or 2 in the tank, the bills love rotation on the line. Rousseau has freakish ability to put his hands on QBs, we have to hit mahomes with organic pressure. This year he can learn from the great Hughes and on 3rd downs put him out there like the water boy and say "tackle the guy with the football." And if this works out like McDermott hopes, by next year we could have 2 great young athletes on edge on rookie deals. And I'd be willing to bet they feel like they can still find a cb2 in the 2nd, but didn't feel like they could find high ceiling edge rush in the 2nd. Just my opinions.

Rousseau is a gamble ill admit, but the pay off of a good edge rush on a rookie deal vs a good rb on a rookie deal is not even close. The steelers took Harris, he will start, will he be good? Probably. And everyone will say " see taking an rb isn't bad" but they don't realize the value of the pick and the 5th year option, and what they could have had with that pick. taking an rb in the first is becoming a thing of the past. And I'm glad the bills didn't take an rb.
