QB is always the root of offensive problems
GreggTX replied to mjt328's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
QB is the most important position, but this thread makes it sound like the only position. I do agree that Allen is a huge gamble with a very suspect past at Wyoming. There is no early indication that he'll succeed. The 2 most important qualities for an NFL QB are accuracy and the ability to make smart, quick decisions. Allen has not demonstrated either of these qualities in his rookie year. Football smarts and IQ are not the same thing and innacuracy is seldom fixed. I'm still hopeful, though. -
The 5 year (realistic) plan for this team

Stop whining. -
Heck, even Murph and Chris Brown were saying this last year -- that the Bills would take a step back this year while eating dead money and bringing along a rookie QB. I think it's the people that were clueless and expected the opposite that are doing all the whining now. I'm fine with a rebuild, but all this whining and crying and the calls to blow it up and start over again before we've even seen the results of the current total organizational rebuild are annoying. Some folks just need to get a life. No doubt their perspective will be equally wacked when we start signing all those FA's in a few months.

Because we like starting all over every 2 years to ensure we never get anywhere.

Someone needs to be fired over Mahomes right now.

You mean they STILL haven't fired Whaley?! Seriously though, can we at least whine about something that's factually accurate? -
It's pathetic when your best player is...

Our punter isn't anywhere near the best on our roster. Failed thread. -
Stating the obvious - the NFL talent level vs. Bills

Already whining about next year too? -
I was very wrong about Tyrod & have to own it.

Hey, I have this from a very valid source. Hot off the press. Don't tell anyone because apparently many posters here haven't heard this news. We're REBUILDING!!! -
We'll need to get a great outside CB and replace Kyle and Lorenzo soon. I'm pretty sure this next offseason will be dedicated to surrounding Allen with talent, but Harry Phillips should be solid, so it's quite possible the defense could be even better next year. Having an offense that keeps the defense off the field and lets the defense play with a lead would be a big help too.

McDermott's Judgement on offense is impaired.

Somehow, people have missed the most important point. We're rebuilding. Also, I'm happy for Woods and Goodwin, but they weren't worth crap when they played here. They're pretty good now, but still not probowl worthy. Perhaps you'd like Whaley back too. Be patient. They've put a decent defense together and will have a ton of cap space and draft picks coming up. I agree they made some mistakes, but every GM has hits and misses. You also left out the end of the 17 year skid mark laid by so many others. -
NFL worried about Chargers viability in LA
GreggTX replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I lived in LA and they don't really care about the NFL. It's nothing like Buffalo. They should never have left San Diego, but the fans have no say in it. St. Louis would also be a better option. OSHA? I doubt it. They only use these uberexpensive stadiums once a week during football season. I think the "need" for new stadiums is exaggerated. I'd imagine ours is still structurally sound. The AFL was not a minor league. They won 2 of the first 4 SB's. -
As far as reading defenses or making quick, correct decisions goes, I'd give him time. If his accuracy is still really bad, then keep drafting QB's, but never again draft a QB with poor accuracy. What is your problem? Seriously. WTF?

Where would this team be if AJM was the Day 1 starter?
GreggTX replied to Rebel101's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We'd be 2-4. He sucked and that's why he's gone. -
Take a deep breath and reevaluate after today
GreggTX replied to RPbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Understood. I just think there's not going to be anything available until after the season and I don't want them giving away draft capital to try to 'save' this season. I'm also getting tired of all the whining. -
6 games into his career and you're already throwing him under the bus? Maybe give him some time and surround him with talent next year?

That's easy. We're rebuilding. Help for the offense will arrive next year. Bills fans, you can either accept it or whine and cry. Your choice. -
I wonder what he might accomplish if we didn't have both the worst receivers and OL along with a rookie QB. In the meantime, I'm not going to cry like a baby. We're rebuilding.

I'd do a lot of short to medium passes. Get the ball out quickly. Also, help the OT's by chipping on Watt and Clowney. Leave backs and TE's in occasionally too for protection. Run between the tackles to set up play action. Maybe a bigger dose of Ivory than usual. Also, Groy is a better pass blocker, but Bodine is a better run blocker with good strength. Start Bodine. I hope Miller can go. He just played his best game in a while against the Titans. Mills will be blocking Watt who is much stronger. He will need help on a high percentage of plays. Go for deep passes on 2nd and short. Run some screens with Shady. Get Clay the ball unless Mathieu is shadowing him all day.

We all know that our own OL is a wreck, but Houston's 2 starting OT's are playing very poorly right now. Look for Hughes and Lawson to have big games on Sunday. The problem for Buffalo will be the Houston run defense. They will have to rely on Allen and weak receiving corps to get anything done. Fortunately, The Texans' secondary is riddled with injuries, so maybe Allen can put together a solid game. Then again, Mills will be blocking JJ Watt. That scares me.
