  1. It's unreal how great he is in preseason and how unbelievably bad he is in regular season. I've been watching pro football for over 50 years and I've never seen anyone like him. Amazing.
  2. I love great defense and am pumped to see more of Oliver & Edmunds. Still, the defenses should have the advantage early on, but it was a good showing by the starters in any case. Wade and Singletary look promising too.
  3. Why do some people hate on this guy? I think he could be really good.
  4. Ditto on the Ed Oliver comments. The man lined up across from Oliver was voted to a lot of all pro teams after last season. Oliver may well have gotten the best of him. Mark my words. Oliver is elite and it will be no secret by midseason. I also think you should have mentioned Tommy Sweeney who has had a good camp.
  5. RB is a relatively easy position to learn. Look at all the rookie RB's in recent years that started out great. If this kid is the athlete he looks to be, they'd better keep him because a lot of other teams would be thrilled to pick him up. Rugby offers some very transferable skills to an NFL RB. They need to give him more touches to see what he can do.
  6. And it doesn't get any better as we'll be trying to stop Hunt, Bell, (twice), Elliott and Barkley. Those may be the 4 best RB's in the NFL right now.
  7. We haven't seen how much progress Allen has made. Many of the FA's we signed were just backup caliber players that they are hoping will turn out better like Nsekhe, Feliciano and Long. I'm still concerned about that OL and won't really know what to expect there until guys get back healthy. It could take a while for this team to gel. 7-9 or 8-8. 1 more prediction: Ed Oliver will be the best player in this draft class and will play well right out of the gate, unlike Darius who took years to develop and then turned lazy again. If Edmunds can make the leap to year 2 along with progress from T Murphy and Oliver playing well, we could be pretty tough to run against for the 1st time in a long while.
  8. I thought I read somewhere that he had the best hands in the draft. Maybe in a post draft video.
  9. That means "not much". However, he seems like a player that would make more noise when they go full tilt with hitting.
  10. If they are going to do all the work to scout players, why not allow a coach mode where you call the plays, make substitutions and manage the clock? They need a much better simulation mode so theplayers stop doing stupid things like run to the sideline and throw all the way back across the field or catch the ball and fall out of bounds when there are no defenders within 15 yards. The penalty system is fubar'd too. The pass blocking is wacked also. Guys need to be able to disengage right away when they are already past the guy that was trying to block them. All they seem to care about is bells and whistles. I don't care about all the EZ dances. I want an accurate simulation of the game of football. As far as the rating are concerned, I've found the Madden raters to be more accurate than the fans by a wide margin. Face it. Allen and Edmunds still have a long way to go. 1 last note: You'll need to make adjustments of as many as 15 points on the CPU sliders to get any simulation that's worthwhile.
  11. A friend had her purse stolen outside War Memorial Stadium as we were headed in to see a preseason game many years ago. It was the late 60's, I think.
  12. Really looking forward to seeing this guy play and grow into everything he was in college and more. If Murphy and/or Shaq has a good year, we're in business. Why stop there? The sky's the limit for this guy. I'll start clipping his wings if and when he comes up short. Until then I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
  13. They'll decide on their starting 5 before the last preseason game and give them time to play together against MIN. From there, it's all up to those guys how quickly they can bond. I'm a bit concerned for Ford, but no need to panic this soon. I really want to see us dominate the run game on both sides of the ball. Oliver will take our run D up a notch with lots of TFL.
  14. In the final analysis, Shady, Singletary, Yeldon, Knox underneath doesn't sound bad if they keep the chains moving our way. If we're talking garbage time yards or an inability to hit the long ball, that's a different scenario. I have to add a personal bias -- I think Singletary and Knox will eventually be very solid performers. DS gives "shifty" a whole new meaning. Knox has incredible speed for a man his size and will often serve as a medium to deep option. Knox can certainly outrun a few LB's and does not seem to have problems catching the ball. He is said to be a solid blocker and he'll get his chances early on. DS may not get as many early chances unless he has a big preseason.
  15. I'll be surprised if it ends this way. If Allen listens to Daboll, he'll be making more throws underneath to Beasley. Brown is an average NFL WR with top speed. I think even ZJ could surpass him this year.
  16. Is that a joke? Frazier is one of the top DC's in the NFL and a former HC. I seriously doubt you'd find someone better and that move would really make our staff look incompetent. Hoprfully Frazier will be here a long time.
  17. Our pass rush was weak last year. The fact that we lost 10 games was the #1 reason why we gave up so few yards through the air. We need more than 1 fix to maintain that level of play and boost the picks and throw-away incompletions. We do tackle well in the secondary, so that piece is still in place. Our LB's cover pretty well too. If we get close to 50 sacks and play well vs the run, the D could win us a few more games. I'd like to see us lead the NFL in takeaways again. We need Murphy to be 100% and for Oliver to be as good as advertised to get 40+ sacks.
  18. I think people overrate our D because last year teams spent so much time just trying to run out the clock compared to other teams. If the offense can manage to crack the top 20 in points scored, the other teams will keep the pedal to the metal longer. Besides, our D allowed 23.4 pts/gm even though other offenses didn't really need to put up more points in the late going. That ranks our D 18th in points allowed, which is a much better indicator than yards allowed. Perhaps if Murphy is back to 100%, Oliver has an amazing season and a couple CB's step it up opposite White and in the slot we could make the top 10.
  19. How are we ranked higher than Jacksonville and the 49'ers? I'd put us ahead of Oakland, though. For the most part, this is a fair assessment, but it never turns out quite how you expected. Unless something changes drastically, this team has no elite talent yet. Most of the FA's we signed are depth and the ones that are slated to start are average starters or a tad above avg for an NFL starter. I'd say Oliver is the only one likely to become elite. Maybe another rookie will surprise (Singletary?). I feel sorry for those who are expecting 10 wins or more. They will be disappointed yet again.
  20. If we go 6-10, we drafted the wrong QB. I think a lot of people feel like we'll win 10 or more games because we signed so many FA's, but nearly all the FA's we signed were not even starters or starter quality. Only a couple of them were even above average (Beasley, Morse). We're a very average team talent-wise. It really does come down to Josh Allen. Is he going to take us to the next level or just be the next Bills bust at QB in a long line of busts at QB.
  21. I think Jim Plunkett is a fair comparison. Low completion % with a lot of long balls.
  22. This is the worst sports video I've ever watched.
  23. If it means you are simply adding a better WR to your roster, then yes. You're adding talent. Use it wisely. Call it what you will.
  24. Safety Manny Martin. He had a 2-pick game vs Aikman in Buffalo after the SB's, but when our D was still good.
  25. Right now he's a pretty average overall starting LB. I like him, but like many Bills players, he is often overrated by many fans.
