  1. That's a fair point, but our OL was pretty average overall. I'd be all in favor of another, even bigger signing in the trenches. Unfortunately, there are no very good OT's available in this year's FA class and the top tier of rookie OT's is expected to be gone by the time we draft at 22.
  2. Jonathan Joseph would also be a good 1 or 2 year deal. He's not great, but he's still better than any CB on our roster except White. He and Norman can compete and draft a CB too. Our depth at CB is lacking. Hyde may be the closest thing to a power runner prototype some like. Me too, but I wonder how effective he'd be for us?
  3. Has anyone rumored the Bills to be interested in Scherff and Thuney so we can pound the rock and take some more of the load from JA's shoulders? I would also really love to see speedy Matt Breida at RB for us. I could see them splitting Breida out in a slot position once in a while they did with Spiller. If used correctly, he could really help us, as long as they're signing some serious OL and CB help to go with WR, LB, TE & DE. Ngakoue, Reader and Hooper or Henry at TE would be nice adds too. Henry is a good receiver and blocker. Hooper is a borderline elite receiving TE and would possibly be the best TE in franchise history. We've had precious few great TE's on the Bills over the last 60 years. Reuben Cant anyone? Jan White? Shaq Lawson is the very definition of 'average NFL DE'. I'd offer him the league average. Why was it only in a contract year that he got somewhat hot? He's had 4 years to prove himself, so unless McDermott thinks he will continue to improve even after 4 years like Jerry Hughes did, I wouldn't pay anything over the league average for DE.
  4. He's very pedestrian. Solid depth, though. He may have been better once, but m'eh. We need a couple big upgrades on the OL. Gimme Scherff and Thuney.
  5. Above 80 for McDermott and below 80 for Beane to this point. McDermott was a great hire. Beane needs to start drafting superstars in the 1st round.
  6. Not an especially powerful man for his massive size, but surprisingly agile. Quickly diagnoses plays and sheds blockers easily. Very solid overall.
  7. M'eh. Could turn into a great move for depth. He's at least as good as Wallace right now. If he can stay at this level for a year it could be worth it.. They made it work for Frank Gore on a 1 year deal. Old coach. Who knows? His leadership is a plus.
  8. Conklin isn't what he used to be, but he's still adequate. I want Scherff or Thuney. Sign A Cooper and go OT in the 1st.
  9. He's a solid backup QB with elite arm strength and elite scrambling ability. If he can become much better somehow, we'll be fine. Otherwise Beane and/or McDermott will be following him out the door. I've never seen a QB with his level of accuracy turn it around in all the years of the AFL and NFL, but I hope he will be the first. We know he needs better weapons, but IMO what he needs most is a much better OL. Last year's OL was much improved, but they still need another big leap.
  10. Beane needs to start nailing his 1st round picks, period. Oliver still has a shot at being elite and Edmunds could be OK, but Allen remains a work in progress.
  11. Edmunds is a thin slice above average and Allen is still well below average, so Edmunds improved much more. I believe Oliver has the tools to make a huge leap in year 2 and will transform our run defense into top 5 territory.
  12. 1. Brandon Scherff 2. AJ Green 3. Byron Jones We get one of the top 3 Edge Rushers in the 1st, then OT, then WR or TE. RB in the 4th, then look for LB and Slot Corner. Conklin is a shadow of his former self. Anyone that gives him $15 mill/yr is a fool.
  13. They already limit rookie contracts and the average NFL career is only 3 years. I'm not sure what cap I'd set otherwise, but I think non-ticket/parking/refreshments profits (jerseys, caps, etc) should be split evenly among the players so the short term guys can share in that.
  14. Every one of the FA's from other teams that he wants us to sign sucks. Rhodes is long past his prime and is average at best. Fackrell is also just average on a good day. Everyone else on that list is awful! Levi Wallace is better than Rhodes at this point in his career. He also has us wasting a 2nd round pick on a S that will only e keeping the bench warm for Hyde and Poyer. I'm glad Joe B isn't the GM. Dear God, what a disasterous offseason that would be! At least he's taking a solid OT in the 1st. Where's the help on the pass rush too? Also, Spain may be replaceable, being about average, but he doesn't bring anyone in capable of taking over at LG. Feliciano is a below average G as well. Almost no help at WR and none at TE. Our offense would be worse, not better.
  15. On the other hand, I'd like to keep Luiget in the DT rotation over Taylor.
  16. Why in the world would we use a 1st round pick to bolster the strongest position on the roster? That makes even less sense as drafting a RB in the 1st. I'd be fine with a QB, but not our least need. We have many positions that could use upgrades. I'm pretty sure we can find a good match between need and talent. We just need Beane to start hitting on these 1st rounders.
  17. You can't count the times he dragged defenders 4 or 5 yards? Slight exaggeration. How about a guy like Matt Breida with world class speed? If you want power, maybe Carlos Hyde? I agree Singletary is a #1 RB and is very underrated by some, but a change of pace is good too. I don't know if Breida (49ers) or Hyde (Browns) have resigned or will be FA's, but either of them could help us. I don't see Beane spending big on a RB after Singletary's great rookie year and the fact that Daboll doesn't seem to really want to run so much.
  18. I think we should keep drafting a QB on day 2 or 3 every couple years until Allen proves he's a franchise QB.
  19. Kroft has always been an average TE and Lee Smith a blocking TE. All of a sudden, you're surprised and disappointed by this?
  20. Keep the pick and hope that Beane gets it right this time.
  21. That sucks. He would have helped us a lot IMO. Perhaps his workout or physical exam didn't go so well.
  22. I think we're in great shape with Singletary as our #1 RB. I see no need to trade when guys like Breida and C Hyde are likely to be released. Hyde has power and Brieda has world class speed. There are probably going to be other affordable options in FA as well. Save those draft picks for OL and CB competition
  23. Olsen is still better even at age 34 and he'll be cheaper. Njoku is pretty average. I wouldn't mind signing him if he's released and Olsen signs elsewhere.
  24. You don't want a great punter because you don't like his attitude? Seriously? It's not like he's Charles Manson's evil twin or anything. Give him a week or 2 in this environment and he'll be fine.
