Horrible Harry...the forgotten man?
GreggTX replied to BillsPride12's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I disagree on both points. I don't see how, after playing so well last year, they just suddenly give up on a 3rd round pick. Also, I clearly remember reading comments by Fewell and Jauron about how Kyle stepped right in and played at a high level as a rookie. -
Newton vs Allen and Pats vs Bills
GreggTX replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Cam is healthy, this isn't even a question. Allen is one the worst passers among starting QB's in the NFL. Cam was an MVP the last time he was healthy. No contest. -
We have no one at DT that has proven himself, but there is potential. Brandon Beane sure does like signing marginal talent though and everyone compliments him for being pennywise. That's not to say that he hasn't signed any probowl calibur talent, but we are going to be relying on a lot of unproven talent at several positions. If H Phillips isn't a solid starter, we are reduced to hoping that unproven Oliver pans out. We really don't have another DT worthy of a starting job. This, along with the missed tackles by Edmunds, could leave us very soft against the run. Oh and I believe it was an ACL tear. If Phillips gets cut, that's a big blow to the team after he was playing so well at the start of the 2019 season. I think it would be a huge mistake to give up on him so soon.

Why Not Beane as President & GM of the Bills?
GreggTX replied to LB48's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Perhaps his background and skills are a good fit for that position, but we don't know that. Besides, he still hasn't proven himself as a GM yet. Let's see how his 1st and 2nd rounders pan out first, can we? None of them have played up to their draft position yet. Good lord! Some people talk like these guys just won back to back SB's. In 2018 you all wanted the Pegulas to clean house despite the obvious fact that it was a rebuilding year and I was defending them. Can't anyone exercise sober judgement here? If they lose you want Beane and McDermott fired immediately. If they win a single game against a decent team you want them annointed as president of the team. Get a grip. We've had 2 playoff losses in 3 years. Forget the slump. The goal is the Lombardi trophy and that's the standard they will ultimately be judged by. -
Good news, but I'd wait on Beane. He's got a lot of high draft picks (Allen, Edmunds, Oliver, Ford) that still haven't played up to a level that would justify their draft position. Allen, in particular is still a long way away from where he needs to be to justify everything we gave up to acquire him. I like the move, but I can't argue with those that say we should have waited a year. If we don't take a big step up in scoring offense, some may question this move. After all, waiting a year wouldn't have hurt anything. Then again, the positive signal sent by the 1st HC contract extension in a long time might just light a fire in everyone's step. It didn't work in Jauron's case, but I already can see that McDermott is a better HC.

How messed up will the 2021 draft be?
GreggTX replied to billsfan714's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Marv always said the draft was a crap shoot. It certainly was for Marv, but 2021 will be even more so. I expect teams won't be so shy about drafting for need even though they say they don't and then go out every year and do it anyways from the 1st to the last pick. Anybody want to start those mock drafts early? -
Ed Oliver interview - NFL put him in the drug program?
GreggTX replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I figured this was going to be way overblown, but he blows 0.0 and they still take him to jail? Now that he is handling this with class I'm an even bigger fan. I was a little concerned about his slow start last year, but he finished well enough. I'll be rooting for him to have a probowl year and I hope that if he's ever pulled over again that he'll be treated with the respect he deserves. Well played Ed. -
Forget Diggs! These 4 Free Agents need to produce!
GreggTX replied to LB48's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Winters is average or maybe just a tick above, but he should be a measurable upgrade over Feliciano unless there is something wrong with him that we haven't heard yet. Williams came back from a serious knee injury and played LG last year. He played poorly. If I were him, I might consider opting out to focus on rehabbing that knee and hope for a big rebound in '21. T Murphy isn't as good as he was in Washington, but he did make it back to near his prior level. Williams was an all pro before and so was J Norman. Hopefully those 2 guys can get back to 95%. -

Addison is average. The other 3 are below average. I don't expect much from them. Trent Murphy is better than all of them despite his relative lack of pass rushing skills. -
Josh Norman Giving High Praise to the Bills
GreggTX replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think McDermott has proven himself as a coach if not a game manager. Beane is still counting on his top picks to emerge. Allen has a long way to go. Edmunds is overrated and Ford still looks lost. Much of our success as well as Beane's reputation depends on those 3 guys. -
Josh Norman Giving High Praise to the Bills
GreggTX replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know it's highly unlikely, but if this guy returns to all-pro form, our D could be elite. I would advise caution on betting the farm on the DT's, though. The backups are backups for a reason and Oliver & Phillips are still unproven. I really hope those two and Epenesa turn out great. -
He's the heart and soul of their defense. I expect the Jets to struggle to win even 4 games now.
-
No. TW is way better than every other CB on the team and CB is arguably the next important position after QB. DE is a very close 3rd, but I can see why some might switch these last 2 positions. I believe the performance of the defense would drop significantly. Unless someone is offering a couple 1st round pick, I wouldn't even consider it.

Article: do the bills have a problem at CB2?
GreggTX replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A probowl caliber CB2 would really make a difference. The dropoff after TW is significant. That said, Wallace and Norman are average CB, so I see this position group as our 2nd biggest need after OL. Of course QB is far and away our biggest need if JA doesn't make HUGE strides that far exceed last year's improvements. He is still holding this team back IMO. I really hope he can do it because we'll pay a steep price to get a top tier QB. -
He's considerably better than Feliciano and slightly better than Spain. He's no probowler, but still an upgrade unless something happened to him. Too bad he isn't a RT so we could kick Ford inside where he belongs. I doubt Ford will ever be very good at RT.
-
He is one of the top receivers in the league. Still, he was catching passes from Kirk Cousins last year and I don't see how he'll be able to match those numbers catching passes from Josh Allen. I'll go with: 55 receptions 775 Yards 5 TD What's your guess?

Cowherd is exactly right. Josh Allen isn't even a top 200 player. Heck, he may not even be a top 400 player. He isn't even good yet. There are like 25 QB's in the NFL better than Allen. Why can't Bills fans simply regard this guy objectively and honestly? Some writer even suggested Allen as an MVP candidate! I mean the guy's 1st responsibility is passing the football and he can't even do that very well.
