  1. There's nothing wrong with the current stadium. I am constantly amazed that pro franchise owners get away with this charade again and again. How many more schools will be defunded to accomodate this farce?
  2. So we're writing the rookie off before he takes a single NFL snap? I seem to remember some people doing the same to Mahomes not long ago.
  3. In an earlier interview, Beane noted that some guys should be kept for their locker room value and the respect they've earned from their teamates. Then we resigned Feliciano. The truth is that we don't have any very good G's. Feliciano is the best and he's barely an average IOL. I wouldn't be surprised if we signed a 1year deal with a veteran G before the preseason ends.
  4. If our D plays like last year, then we probably will. If our D plays much better, I could see a bit more focus on eating up the clock late in games. Either way, I don't see Daboll ratcheting the O down too much with our WR corps and Allen at QB. We also have 17 games this year, so I'll vote yes.
  5. No. CB2 and LG and TE are glaring needs. DE remains a glaring need until proven otherwise. Singletary is not a big concern. We need to use him better. We also need to figure out how to make better use of Breida than Chan did last year.
  6. They played hoops, but any list of great WNY athletes must contain Bob Lanier and Calvin Murphy. And now back to football. P.S. I went to school with Jim Dombrowski's sister Carol at Maplemere Elementary in Amherst.
  7. I know many will refute this, but in his prime he was as great as anyone that has ever played the game. The numbers don't reflect it, but when you watched him from the stands, you knew. He was a man among boys. He'd make would be tacklers look like drunken, stumbling bums. I remember a tough Eagles team playing us and at at the half, Philly's HC didn't make any speeches. He just walked up to the chalkboard and wrote "T-A-C-K-L-E". If he were playing for us today, we'd score 40+ points per game...easy. Keep in mind that he ran for 2,003 yards in a 14 game season, during which he had several games over 200 rushing yards. He set the record for most yards in a game on Thanksgiving against the Lions who came into the game ranked #1 against the run. It hardly mattered. He shredded them for 273 yards. They could do nothing to stop him. Note: The previous record was held by Cookie Gilchrist. (243 rushing yards, Bills vs Jets, 1963)
  8. I wonder if we'd be having this conversation if that 2nd pick had been an OL. I hope Basham does OK, but I still think if there had been a solid OL prospect there in round 2, we'd be better off. Of course, we don't know what their board looked like so let's just hope they chose wisely.
  9. He's not what he used to be, but he's still far better than any of the TE's on our current roster. It's possible Knox could be better in a year or 2, but I'm starting to think he'll only be average at best. Ertz is still better than most TE's even if he's no longer elite.
  10. On offense, I'm really hoping Singletary silences the critics. My 2nd choice is Ford. He was a high draft pick who has played like a late day 3 pick instead. We really need him to take the same magnitude leap that Josh did last year. On defense, somebody needs to step up at the CB2 spot and DE. I just don't see a solid prospect at CB in the wings. At DE, I'm hoping Rousseau will be Beane's best 1st round pick to date other than Josh. We don't have any position where we can't line up at least an average player other than G or perhaps TE, but we really need big boosts to a much higher level at CB, DE and G or move Williams inside and put Brown at RT if and/or when Brown is ready.
  11. The DL in 2015 was the best DL in the NFL in decades. Dareus, Kyle and Mario were playing at an all-pro level. The only other DL at that level recently are Suh, JJ Watt and Donald. The current DL has Hughes and Oliver who are just average at this point. Maybe Oliver will get much better. Maybe not. Maybe the 2 rookies will be great. Maybe not. You're comparing all-pros with a bunch of maybe's who have shown little thus far besides Hughes who is reaching the end of his career as a player. It's not even close.
  12. I seem to recall Bills fans celebrating news of Mahomes' early struggles in camp and preseason of his MVP year. I'm not saying that will happen with Tua, but at this point, my reaction is 'so what?'.
  13. All 4 of them have a lot of room for improvement. Then again they've all shown real promise other than Ford, so I'll start there. Injury has slowed Ford's progress, but he's shown little promise any any case. I wonder at this point if he'll ever be very good. There's still a chancethough. Learning to play on a NFL OL can take a while for some guys. I loved the Oliver pick when they made it and I'm still hoping he'll be good. I no longer think he'll be great though. Ditto on Knox and Singletary. Might be good, but not expecting greatness. In fact, I think Singletary and Oliver are above average players already. Other than Allen, I haven't been overly impressed by Beane's 1st and 2nd round picks, but at least guys like Oliver & Edmunds are OK and not complete 1st round busts like too many others we've had. It's a long list.
  14. Seriously Cole? Fine then. Go ahead and forfeit those millions and let your teamates down. This antivaccine nonsense is getting old. I got mine and I'm fine. I did not have to give up any freedom. No one can ever give me a plausible answer when I ask for their reasons for opting out, it's 'sound of crickets'. What are these folks so afraid of? I really want to know why this is happening.
  15. I'm just going to wait until we're at least into October to really judge this. As of now, it's just the usual practice of selling the fans new hope. Happens every year and it's often much ado about nothing. I hope this time it really is true because we obviously need it to take that next step.
  16. 1. Ball Security. 2. Ball Security 3. Continue working on all other aspects of your game.
  17. Edmunds is a freak of nature. If the game ever really slows down for him, look out. He's not there yet, though.
  18. Man I sure hope so because it doesn't look like Star is going to light it up. Because of the knee injury, we still don't really know how good he can be. I also recall that the press was giving him rave reviews in 2019, before the injury. We didn't draft any DT's so he should have every chance to get snaps and succeed as a Bill in 2021. Now let both Rousseau and Basham be the real deal. Also, it's time for Ed Oliver to take his game to the next level. He's been just OK and that's not OK.
  19. Guys that don't give up. Teddy Bridgewater comes to mind. Darryl Williams too.
  20. I already know who we play and where. This seems rather anticlimactic.
  21. I am very concerned about our CB's. If anything happens to White, we will be very weak at the CB positions.
  22. NE's defense will be exceptional this season if they can avoid the injury bug. That will allow them to stay close even against great teams. The offense is still lacking at QB, but there is more talent. Their OL is pretty solid, so they will have success running the ball. I expect them to mount a strong challenge.
  23. Williams isn't going to be the swing tackle and Brown won't be a 1st year starter. If Ford continues to struggle at LG, I could see us going with Williams at LG and Brown at RT in 2022 maybe. Then again, one of the day 3 OL or UDFA OL could surprise us. I heard that Doyle (or was it Anderson?) was an excellent technician. I'd give a rookie OL who is very good with his technique a good chance to make the roster. Getting stronger is easier to do, but some guys never develop great footwork or handwork. Brown is a solid athlete, so if he just needs to work on his conditioning to get NFL ready, I see a bright future there. I know Morse has not performed as expected, but he's still the best IOL on the roster by far. Perhaps those concussions are a problem. If that's the case, it might be better for him to retire before he ends up like Jim McMahon. I really don't understand why people think Bates and Boettger are the answer though. I don't even know if they'll even make the final roster.
