Playcalling, the ability to hit plays that "hit 'em where they ain't." (To borrow a phrase from Ernie Nevers) is vastly underrated. I still remember a play Chan called on the 1 yard line. The defense came charging upfield and Fitz tosses this easy lob to Fred at the 1 surrounded by several OL on a middle screen. There wasn't a single defensive player on the TV screen as Fred walked into the EZ for the easiest TD of his season. Talk about getting set up! It's just too bad he fell in love with subpar QB's and incompetent DC's. He could have really used a better roster overall.

If Davis hadn't had such a ridiculous game, I'd agree. Diggs was the primary reason that Davis saw so much single coverage. Allen smartly took advantage of the mismatches.

I'll never understand people that must stop and insult anyone whose thread they aren't interested in. Allow me to enlighten you NewEra. If you come across a thread that does not interest you for any reason, simply move on to the next thread. You know? Like a grown up.

My thought was that we could move someone inside, but you're right about the need for the IOL. I just wonder how much to expect in 1 offseason. WR is also a need. I can't say I disagree there either.

These would be my offseason priorities. 1. Big upgrade at RT: I admire the effort by Spencer Brown and he may well have a bright future, but we're in win now mode and he still needs a lot of polishing. 2 probowl OT's would make the whole offense run more smoothly. If, in the mean time, Brown becomes one of our top 5 OL, great. Those are the problems coaches like. I'd have placed the DL as priority 1, but we've already invested in young talent there and Harry is starting to come around. 2. CB2: I commend Dane Jackson for how well he's held up, but he should really be our CB4 with Wallace as CB3. We probably can't afford another CB at White's level of proficiency, but someone halfway between White and Wallace would really help. Besides, White may not be back in 2022 if he needs the full 14 months to recover. 3. Power RB: If we're not building a dome, we need a tank at RB that can go toe to toe with, Henry, Mixon, Taylor in sloppy, cold weather. Stats show that in treacherous footing, heavier, stronger backs run relatively better than lighter, shiftier backs. I've kinda given up on Moss. He can play, but he can't handle that kind of load and generate the results we need. This would also help when Josh is having a bad game. Let the run game take some of the weight and give Josh a chance to ease back into the game with more play action and easier completions. Keep Singletary as RB2. 4.TE Depth: Dawson Knox has made big strides, but he's still not elite. Getting another good TE would be nice, especially if he's a decent run blocker as well as a proficient receiver. Sweeny may not even be around very long. 5. NT: With Harry's ascent, this becomes less urgent, but Phillips still has a long way to go. Star was overpaid. Time to upgrade and move on. Harry's not a true NT. We also don't really know where his ceiling is. We still need a decent true NT for those pound n' ground slugfests in high winds and snow. WR: Sanders and Beasley have been on a bit of a decline lately. Are Davis, McKenzie and Stevenson the answer or do we need more competition? ...And then there's Tremaine Edmunds and Jerry Hughes. ...Oh and get a darn Punter!

I think Brian Flores will soon be showing the Dolphins the error of their ways. They should just trade Tua and try their luck again at QB, not fire a good coach. I think it will be a while before they mount a serious threat. I think he'll be looking for a team with a good, young QB next time.

Panthers Willing to Listen to Offers for McCaffrey
GreggTX replied to aristocrat's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm not even sure what the right price is for him, but we'd be so hard to stop and we wouldn't just have to rely on Josh. -
Harrison Philips: how important is it for the Bills to re-sign him?
GreggTX replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall
He's on an upward trend. I say sign him now and save $$$. -
I was guilty of giving up on Phillips too. I'm glad I was wrong. He's not all world just yet, but he's still on an upward trend. Same for Oliver. Now we need a couple young DE's to step up. I think Basham has a long career ahead of him. He can play. I just don't know what his ceiling is. Rousseau's pass rush needs a lot of work still, but he's still a rookie.

Is It Just Me, or Did Motor Get Punked on Angry Runs?

Motor is definitely motivated. -
Defense: let’s grade and comment your grade
GreggTX replied to Italian Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Run D - D - Allowed nearly 150 yards, but did enough and had enough timely stops to effect the outcome in our favor. Pass D - B+ - I'm kinda surprised that our pass defense is holding up so well without our best DB or any elite pass rushers. Overall - C - We really need to add a pure NT of considerable ability and work ethic. LB's must stop overrunning plays. -
I'm warming up to the idea of signing or drafting an elite RB, but I still like Singletary. I love his energy in recent games. Something lit a fire under him. There have been recent games where his numbers haven't looked great, but his efforts were key to winning. Let's help both the passing and run games and make a big splash this coming offseason at OT, DT, then improve depth at CB and TE.

Week 15, Panthers v. Bills, 12/19/21 - GAME BALLS
GreggTX replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
Obada has 2 sacks and 2 TFL. On offense, I think Singletary was a good choice. Honorable mention to Williams. -
RIP! The '64-'65 champions are dying off. Sad. They were my first team and still are. I was just 8 when they won that first one in '64.

A starting level CB is available.. Breeland
GreggTX replied to CorkScrewHill's topic in The Stadium Wall
He's better than Jackson and Neal, but not a starter. He'd be a good CB #4 at the right price. -
What players are true draft busts under Beane?
GreggTX replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
Cody Ford. The rest just haven't lived up to expectations. Allen still has big games, but lacks consistency. Get him a good OL and 1-tech. Even CB takes a back seat to this OL on the priorities. -
Wow! Talk about overreacting!

1. OL 2 serious upgrades. 2. Run support.DT, edge rusher 3. CB2

11/21 Colts at Bills, Postgame Postmortem Thread
GreggTX replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
We need to get tougher in the trenches. We've not gotten the best returns on our OL and DL. We just get manhandled by a more physical team. I'm also concerned for Daboll. We ran the ball 8 times? Did I hear that right? -
