Now with 2 new DT's on board, the most important positions are CB, RG and Edge. I doubt we'll make another DT FA signing unless someone is foolish enough to ear Star's contract. I seriously doubt that.

Harrison Phillips to Vikings, 3 year 19.5 million
GreggTX replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall
Good luck Harry. Stay healthy and have a great career. -
Bills sign DT Tim Settle, formally of Washington Commanders.
GreggTX replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall
I like this signing ok, but I want Phillips to stay until he reaches his peak. He's just getting going. We don't want him to end like Wyatt Teller. Both he and Settle have shown flashes and Star is useless. I don't care if we have to eat some deas money. Star is a liability when he's on the field. -
Healthy, average pass protector, near elite run blocker. I'm guessing they slot him at RG and move Williams to LG where he played in his last season with Carolina. I want Donte Jackson too! They have several decent CB's and Gilmore needs to get paid. D Jackson, T White an T Johnson. Add an elite sack artist at RE and this D looks like ir could be elite.
-
Clearly we needed an upgrade at LG, but it's too bad we couldn't afford to keep him as 1st man off the bench at C or G. He'll get paid though. There are many teams with worse starting G's than Jon. His attitude and enthusiasm will be missed and will serve him well even after he hangs up his cleats.
-
Now that he has fully recovered from his ACL injury, it would be foolish not to make a reasonable offer. He is on the rise and Star is the most overpaid guy on this roster by a mile. I don't want Star here. He's clearly not motivated and it shows. Sign Ioannis if possible. Edge, CB and OL are much bigger needs for us. I don't want to see a WR or DT in round 1 unless we have sizable upgrades at those positions already signed.
-
He was a mile ahead of everyone else too. 67% to 60% for the next tier. This part of his game has seen a huge improvement. I remember his first 2 seasons when he was missing deep balls by a country mile. I've seen many players go from failure to glory, but never like Allen. His degree of improvement is unprecedented -- especially his accuracy.

Danielle Hunter, DE, the perfect trade candidate
GreggTX replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall
I wouldn't mind at all. We could sign him for a relatively long contract at that price, we'd have to sacrifice something else, but he's capable of putting up big numbers when healthy. Besides, Edge Rusher is widely regarded as the 2nd most important position on the team. If we go Edge in round 1 or 2, we'd better trade for a G because Cogs is the ONLY G in FA that I'd want in a Bills uniform. That means we'd be stuck trying to trade up to get a decent OL because there will likely be a run on them in round 1. That means we'd have to splurge for a CB instead if one is even available. Levi Wallace has been ok at times, but he's had too many bad games. Other needs like depth at RB and TE can be addressed more easily without spending a fortune. Also, while I think Spencer Brown probably has a bright future, he is by no means a sure bet and he has a long way to go just to be average. We knew he'd be a project though. I really hope he and Rousseau catch fire in '23. -
I voted yes, but only at a fair price. We need depth at TE and Gronk is still pretty good. We'd have to play more 2TE formations, but that's fine if we let Beasley go. We still have bigger needs like OL, WR2, Edge, CB2 (upgrade from Wallace), RB depth. I'd love to be able to keep Harry and sign a guy like Ioannidis to replace Star. Still, having Gronk would still be nice. We'd have to add more speed outside to take full advantage of a Knox/Gronk tandem.

Tampa to play home game in Germany this year
GreggTX replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall
I wonder if this is the best time to be thinking about expanding overseas. Our international popularity isn't exactly at an all-time high. -
Per Andrew Marchand (New York Post) Troy Aikman is ESPN bound for MNF
GreggTX replied to Greg S's topic in The Stadium Wall
I haven't seen a lot of Troy's broadcasts, but I remember him doing a Bills game and I was impressed. On top of his ability to be interesting, he was far better informed about the Billsn than any of the others I'd heard besides our home broadcasting crew. Back then, all ther announcers were pronouncing players names wrong. They clearly didn't understand the team. Troy will be a good addition to MNF. -
Kareem Hunt: Cut candidate. Possible 2022 Bill?
GreggTX replied to filthymcnasty08's topic in The Stadium Wall
If a guy has committed a crime and pays his debt to society, I'd give him another chance. That doesn't mean it can't happen again, but all too often, we make it so hard on them that recovery becomes much more difficult. Hunt is far better than most people realize. That said, I don't know him personally and I'd want to talk to people in Cleveland about any character concerns before making such a move. If he's come around, I'd say OK, but any more woman beating and you are finished. No guaranteed money. No nothing. There's the door. -
I want Ioannidis to replace Star. He should be starting somewhere and he is one of the strongest players in the NFL. He'd be a really nice upgrade and with Phillips and Oliver that would be a good interior. We need an elite edge rusher though.

Article - Six free agents Buffalo should target
GreggTX replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Ogbah is pretty good. I don't care to see anyone else on that list on our roster unless they are a backup. I wouldn't mind having Fitz around -- even after he retires. -
Spotrac spitballs C. Kirk & C. Williams to Bills
GreggTX replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall
Kirk is OK, but nothing special -- Decent speed and hands. Connor Williams is worse than what we already have -- No thanks. -
Former Bill Clarence "Pooh Bear" Williams dead at 47
GreggTX replied to Greg S's topic in The Stadium Wall
We'll save you a SB ring. -
This might be a close approximation, but we'll address several positions in FA with average players and then pick BPA. I say that tongue in cheek because by the time we pick, there will be more than one player available at or near the same grade so we'll choose the one that addresses the greatest need. That said, clearly RT and G are big needs for us. I hope Spencer Brown will become a solid RT in a couple of years and we'll have to find a way to work him into the starting lineup, but if you think he's ready now, you aren't being realistic. I love his potential, but he still has a long way to go. Give me 2 big upgrades on the OL at RT and LG, then address NT, Edge Rusher and CB2 (Finally!). We could also use help in the form of better depth at TE2 and RB2. Upgrading the Punter position should be easy enough. I don't know what they'll do for WR2 and the slot, but I'll be severely disappointed if we use a #1 pick on a WR before the OL is addressed.

McDermott is the reason that Buffalo is a destination for FA's. Before his arrival, there was a real penalty that the organization had to pay to get good FA's to sign with a perennial loser. Now we are set for the forseeable future and you want to blow it up and start over? No thanks.

Good thread CSH. Josh has had a terrible fumbling problem even after pulling the ball down and running. This year he was much better though. He can still do a better job of squeezing the ball, but he's been thinking about it more, obviously. Also, fumbles come more readily when you're holding the ball up and focusing your attention downfield. Better blocking means fewer QB hits and fumbles. Now add a run game that can be dominant even in sloppy conditions and playoff games in Orchard Park become very advantageous. Heck, I'm more worried about just getting out of the AFC. The SB will be on a fast field, but if our run game is great, Josh will be even more efective with a few less pass attempts. I like that approach. Pull the safeties up and let Josh go over their heads more. I'd like an upgrade at G and RT. I like Brown a lot, but he's a project and we're in win now mode. In a year or so we could have 3 very good OT's. That's a problem I'd love to see happen. You could trade someone or slide a OT inside. Perhaps we'll acquire someone that can play C or G. I'd love to keep Feliciono as the first IOL off the bench, but at the right price.

Quinton Spain comments on release from the Bills
GreggTX replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
He's better than any of the G's on our current roster. His release was a mistake unless there's more to this. -
Remember that he spent the offseason weightlifting and adding muscle mass. He has already cut way down on the fumbles. I don't want to spend a 1st even a 2nd on a RB when we need a RDE, CB2, TE2, NT, OL and someone to challenge Davis or replace Beasley if necessary. Perhaps a FA? Moss should be traded if possible and Breida will probably be gone. Speed would be nice. I think Devin can handle the short yardage runs, but a big back would be great in the snow. That's what you want in those bad weather games. Play keepaway and wear them down. In any case, Singletary is a decent starter. In those last few weeks, only 3 other NFL RB's ran for more yards. On top of that, you can count on one hand the number of RB's that are better at picking up yards after contact.

Could Bills Trade Up To #1 For Pass Rusher? Picks and Rousseau For #1?
GreggTX replied to jwhit34's topic in The Stadium Wall
Rousseau has more than potential. In fact, he was much better by season's end than nearly all the 'experts' had predicted. We need to keep him.
