What are YOUR expectations if Allen wins the start?
GreggTX replied to #34fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
His stats will be terrible and he'll take a ton of sacks. In fact, whoever is back there will take a ton of sacks. Our WR's are the league's worst at gaining separation and our OL is a horror story. On top of that, we won't be able to run well. Allen will have to prove to me that his inaccuracy can be fixed. According to PFF, his accuracy even in short areas were much less accurate than most college QB's. I'm pulling for a turnaround there, but I have my doubts. The good news is that we still have all of our 2019 draft picks and will have a ton of money to spend on FA's next year so we can fix these problems. -
Incognito's Retirement? [update: Now Released]

And then there are those very disturbing accusations after the playoff game which no one seems to remember. -
Incognito's Retirement? [update: Now Released]
GreggTX replied to Spiderweb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He may stay retired, but would another team give him a better offer? -
Am I the only one who has confidence in our WR's?
GreggTX replied to WideRightRevenge's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am fine if KB is the 2nd best WR on the roster as long as #1 has speed to burn as well as other positive attributes. Having Jones mature as a 3rd WR would help a lot too. In 2019 there will be a relatively expensive FA starting opposite KB anyways. I expect the TE position and OL to look very different as well. -
Buffalo News in financial trouble

Jordan Mills second team All-Pro?
GreggTX replied to BringBackOrton's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is a joke. Mills is barely starter caliber. That pic has been altered. Mills did not play well last year. He did not run block particularily well. He could be very easily replaced. -
RIP Ground Chuck.

Which Bills Decision Infuriated You?
GreggTX replied to BuffaloRush's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Letting Lamonica go, then watching him take the Raiders to the SB. Even the decision to start Kemp over Lamonica was wrong. -
Buh Bye Shaq and let's not be in a hurry to offload last year's starting RT even if he is bad. No one has shown that they are any better. Our OL is a total mess right now. I just pray that kid they drafted at G in round 5 turns out to be the steal of the draft. We also need a miracle at WR. Someone has to step up. At least we'll have 3-4 new faces at WR to look at. I hope you're right about Logan Thomas. If we had 2 solid TE's, that would take some of the sting out of not having a speed WR.

Start Allen from Day 1/ QB competition
GreggTX replied to BuffaloBud420's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My concern with this is that whoever we start at QB is going to take a LOT of sacks. 2 best starters gone and a veteran C and we've done practically nothing to stop the bleeding. And who will he throw to? I know we were never going to plug all the holes in 1 offseason, but let's try not to get Allen killed so quickly. That noted, he has shown steady improvement and a great Sr Bowl. He might be ready for this offense before it's ready for him. -
How much difference does Edmunds' size and speed make?
GreggTX replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good question. He has to make more of a difference than a guy we could have taken at 65. Considering that we got Phillips at 96, I'd say we gave up a day 1 starter on the OL or at WR or OLB to add 1 better player. Some guy on NFL Network was all over this move, though. He said he had Edmunds as his #1 LB and a top 4 prospect. We could have nailed down a starting spot for some time to come. No matter. I say Edmunds will make us forget the lost pick and be the beast we are told he is. -
If AJ McCarron plays great
GreggTX replied to Kingston Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If AJ wins the starting job by playing great, so be it. I hope they both turn out great and we can have 2 first round picks again next year by trading 1 of them away for a guy like OBJ or Antonio Brown. Hmmm... Maybe both. -
Happy 20th Birthday Tremaine Edmunds
GreggTX replied to dollars 2 donuts's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
...Now go kick ass!!! -
I thought the Bills might have traded Hughes on draft weekend to move up as a possible scenario, but the Bills have kept Hughes and added Murphy -- both capable starting DE's in the NFL. So what is the plan for the underachieving Shaq Lawson? Will they try him out at Sam LB in place of the aging Lorenzo Alexander? Will he be a 1st round bench warmer? Will they try to deal him or save him?
-
I think Hughes benefits tremendously. Also, by the end of the season, Harrison Phillips will be the best DT on our roster. 100+ tackles in 14 games from the NT position at Stanford! He will be VERY successful and will remain a long time Bill and fan favorite. And Taron is the starting Nickel Back. I like that pick. We still need another CB outside because of Davis' age, but we'll have plenty of money to spend next year to plug holes. Looking forward to seeing the OL upgraded. I hope Allen and Edmunds were worth trading up because we could have drafted a new starting C and G with those 2nd round picks.Still need an OLB to replace Lo soon as well as a speed receiver.

CBS Sports: Darnold v. Allen, Rookie Matchup to Watch
GreggTX replied to boater's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Let's hope Allen vs. Darnold is THE matchup to watch for the next 20 years! I'm down. -
I'm guessing she's been looking over Russ Brandon's shoulder for a while now. She has the easy job. Beating the other 31 teams to the Lombardi Trophy is the hard part.

What are your most valued traits in a QB???
GreggTX replied to Rebel101's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The mental aspect of the game is clearly most important -- anticipation, seeing the field, making quick decisions, reading defenses, etc. Even without a great arm you can win a lot of games at QB just by salvaging a few bad plays and connecting on the easy ones. Just ask Bob Griese and the undefeated Miami Dolphins. Allen may not be as good as Griese, but he could also turn out much, much better. -
He's only a junior too. He and Edmunds will grow up in the NFL. 3 years from now they'll be the heart of a very good team.
