Never Followed PFF..After This, Never Will
MJS replied to Rich Stadium Original's topic in The Stadium Wall
That's why passer rating continues to be the only reliable QB metric. PFF drinks their own kool-aid and QBR is fundamentally flawed. Week 8 passer ratings: Josh Allen: 102.9 Geno Smith: 78.5 -
The hot team rarely stays the hot team for a full season. Last week it was the Ravens. Then they lost to the Browns. Now it is the Lions. We'll see if they still are in a couple of weeks. The season always has ebbs and flows like this. The trick is getting hot right as you are heading into the playoffs. That's where we want the Bills to be.

Tom Brady post-game interview of Josh Allen, his "favorite QB"
MJS replied to PoundingDog's topic in The Stadium Wall
Allen and Brady have been friends for a few years now. They have had a lot of fun banter in the past. Brady seems to really love him. It's like the ONE good thing about Brady. -
Wow. Not a good look to be fighting your own players. I'm excited to watch that.
-
I missed most of the game. I need to watch it back later today. But what the heck is this? Seahawks players were fighting each other?

Tre White is a terrible tackler. He would not be a good safety. Guys like Benford or Douglas would be better safeties because they excel in zone coverage and are great tacklers. White is not like that. Some people have been throwing around Elam as a safety. That is even more foolish than thinking White could be a safety. Elam is a man coverage corner. Zone has been more of a struggle. He would be a terrible safety.

All the fines go to charity. I don't think that is a motivating factor.
-
No, it has not been common. It is a new way to tackle that came over from rugby (where it was also banned). It requires grabbing the player, leaving your feet, and launching your body into the back of their legs. It is very new to the NFL. A few years ago it was not a thing. And it has not been common even today. I don't remember the numbers, but the number of instances have been very low, something like once a game or something.
-
Sure, but not as dangerous as hop drop tackles. It's almost a guarantee ankle injury every single time.
-
I've seen several this year that they never call. Why institute the rule and then make zero effort to enforce it? Hip drop tackles are more dangerous than classic horse collar tackles. They are in a very similar category of tackle, though.

Do you ever feel like you should be understanding something, but you don't? That's me right now...

Sam Darnold and other QB resurrections
MJS replied to ChronicAndKnuckles's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think it was his first year. They had Rick Dennison the first year when Tyrod was still here, and then moved on and hired Daboll their 2nd year, which would be Allen's first year. -
Sam Darnold and other QB resurrections
MJS replied to ChronicAndKnuckles's topic in The Stadium Wall
Maybe Ty Detmer? He was such a dynamic player in college but came into the league and bounced around between a few teams, and then he was gone. He played well enough in 1996 to get the Eagles to the playoffs when their starter went down. And he didn't get drafted until the 9th round! Crazy for a Heisman Trophy winner. He threw for over 5,000 yards and 41 TDs in 1990 in 12 games! He had an average of 432 yards per game that year. Crazy. I think the NFL just didn't want to give him much of a shot. But he was smaller. Only 6'0" and 190 pounds. -
Sam Darnold and other QB resurrections
MJS replied to ChronicAndKnuckles's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think there are countless other QBs who could have thrived and revived their careers if they got into better situations and were actually given a shot. Yes! It took him until year 8 to actually become a good QB. He was 31 years old before he did anything meaningful in the league. -
I think we have about $2 million in cap space. I just don't think it is responsible or even possible to fit another high cap player on the team. The Bills are already taking it on the chin this year in clearing dead money.
-
I think he is pretty darn good.
-
So many pre-snap penalties...
-
Stafford looked like Josh Allen on that one.
-
That's going way overboard. I think most teams have better throwbacks than those.
-
Yeah, that sequence was completely botched by the refs and everyone involved. It should have been two flags, one for Offside and another for roughing the kicker or unnecessary roughness. The delay of game penalty, however, was inexcusable by Buffalo. What a mess that was.

The Seahawks haven't been good at home this year.

Sfefanski handing over play calling duites to Dorsey this week
MJS replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall
Good for him. I hope he kills it. Dorsey is a good coordinator. His offense was just too rigid and not a fit for Josh Allen. But he had a good concept. -
Even the teams that play a lot of man coverage still only play it, like, 40% of the time. Every team in the NFL is predominantly zone these days. Most teams overwhelmingly play zone.

I think their old ones are a bit bland, personally. But their new ones are gross. They need to come out with an entirely new look. If that isn't in the cards, yes, they could go back to their old ones. That would be an upgrade.

I voted for him about 15 times 😉
