Breaking news: Dawkins signs four year deal worth $60 mill

Those posters will be along shortly. They have to yell at themselves in the mirror for a bit to get in the right mood. -

Exactly. There aren't enough quality olinemen to go around so they get paid more than they are worth in free agency. -

Good news. Dawkins is an above average player. It's his turn to get paid so he probably got a tiny bit more than he is worth, but in a year or two his contract will be middle of the pack, right where it belongs. Don't screw with the offensive line until you have clear upgrades. -

Drop it to 6m per year and you are right on target. -
Is QB the most mentally taxing position in sports?
MJS replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Golf? Like the game where not even the fans are aloud to make noise? I'd put that sport in the bottom tier of mental stress. You have old men able to play at a high level. It's about muscle memory and concentration. -

I think the wonderlic wasn't taken as seriously back then when Marino played. And I think some players still don't take it that seriously. And the questions don't have much to do with football. You might not be able to do word problems or math in your head quickly, but you might be able to process the chaos on the football field quickly. I think Lamar is helped out a lot by the offense he is in. He is an athletic freak, though. I would put hockey goalie up there too as far as an incredibly difficult position to play at a high level. They have to process things incredibly fast and have near superhuman reactions and body control. Plus they have to be flexible and be willing to take hits from hard pucks flying 105 mph. -

I don't think there is as much pressure for the goalie. It's more like if you actually manage a stop then everyone will be amazed. If you can't I think people realize that it is tough. But as the one making the kick it is expected that you make it. -
George Kittle extension 5 yr/$75 mill

I can't guess until I see how he plays. He could be a star in a few years, out of the league, or anywhere in-between. -

It depends on what you mean. QB's do have to process a lot of information presnap and postsnap. They have to deal with a ton of chaos including giant men fighting and scratching and clawing to get to them and destroy them. They also have to do a ton of preparation work so that they can recognize what is happening on the field. A lot of QB's aren't mentally prepared for that at the NFL level. If we are talking mental stress, yeah you can point to other sports I suppose. But as far as processing and retaining information, QB has to be up there. -

Yeah, I don't think he's a lock. I wasn't saying that. I just think he might get poached if we put him on the practice squad. -

5th round rookie is better than a lot of undrafted guys that get put on the practice squad. -
Spencer Long was a starter for them, but a backup for us (who we just released). That's the difference. Good a few years ago. I'm not trying to talk bad about the guy. I don't know much about him. But I don't think he is a lock to be a starter. It depends on if he has overcome his injuries and gets back to form.

I think Fromm would get snatched pretty quickly if he is placed on the practice squad. Teams are going to be looking for more QB's than usual this year due to COVID-19 concerns. His stock is low in the media. That's about it. -
Any Joe Schmo can do those jobs. The military will literally take any knucklehead out of high school. Doesn't mean those jobs aren't hard or worthwhile, they are. But finding people to do them isn't difficult. Only a few people on the planet can do what NFL players can do. Their skillet is rare. And we as consumers give them our money to do what they do. We demand that they get paid as much as they do. I don't like it when they say "I need to feed my family" because yeah, they make enough money for that, but these players do deserve to get paid what the market sets for them, and that is millions and millions of dollars.

I personally view that as a vote on confidence for Bates, who can play all 5 positions. But that's just me. Yeah. I can see that. I just liked what I saw from Bates last year and I have a hunch the coaches did too. We'll see how things shake out. -

I almost doubt that all three of Ty Nsekhe, Brian Winters, and Daryl Williams make the roster. Whoever loses out could be traded. I think Bates is very well thought of and valued for his ability to play all five spots on the line. I would put him in the blue category. Harrison Phillips is a lock, in my book. -
What a surprise that we have the usual crowd of posters unhappy with this. Because everything the Bills do is bad. They can't shift in their chair without these posters criticizing their butt placement. Doesn't the constant, eternal criticisms get old? They were holding out hope for McDermott to fall on his face and lose the team so they can shout from the roof tops "I told you so!".

How messed up will the 2021 draft be?
MJS replied to billsfan714's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All teams are in the same boat, so it doesn't really matter. It's up to Beane and his team to do the best they can. And our new team name will be the Whitey Tighties! -
Nobody cares.
