Week 6 Uni watch All blues in prime time. KCvsBUF
MJS replied to SlimShady'sSpaceForce's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like them all, but the all-blues are my least favorite. But not a big deal. -
Before the game I said here that it's ok if Henry has a big game. Just stop Tannehill. Hit him, intercept him, make him move, and contain him. This league is not about the running game anymore. If you stop the pass there is no way teams can beat you (within reason). I would have much rather seen the Bills take the Titan's approach on defense. Drop into coverage. Don't blitz a lot. Disguise coverages. We were out our top two corners and our best coverage linebacker. Yet we were still blitzing and crowding the box and leaving our depleted secondary on islands. But even if we did that we still probably would have lost given all of the mental errors that happened on special teams and offense. Not true. He played really well against the Raiders. Even before that game he had a good yards per carry average. He wasn't used much because the Bills were behind and needed to air it out. Singletary is a good running back. People throw around the term bust WAY too much. The guy has a down game and all the sudden he is a bust?

Wow. What a disaster for the Jets. What's his dead cap for them?
-
An AJ breakout is just what we need. But he'll be in the dog house for a bit for jumping Offside. But I want him to get more playing time. He has actually flashed a couple times for me and I still have confidence he can be an effective edge rusher. SOMEONE needs to get pressure on the QB.

This years Titans game versus last years game

The Bills played them tough last year and beat them. We don't need to take anything away from that victory. -
Week 6: Chiefs at Bills (+5): Monday 5pm on Fox
MJS replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yep. Like these guys even want to talk to the media. They are just trying to get through it without giving anything away to their opponent or saying anything stupid. They want to get back to their real jobs which is to win football games. -
I didn't say it is unimportant. But if we are going to expend assets to fix something it should be on the defense, not the offense.
-
Poor guy. Was Sal mean to you on the radio?

Lets take a breath here and look at this more logically...

We also need to remember that we have gotten blown out in games the past couple years and McDermott usually responds and makes the necessary adjustments to get things turned around. Maybe that won't happen this year, but it might, and we have precedent for it. Let's get healthy and let's see what McDermott does to turn things around. The season is far from over. -

You mean, like... score more points than them? Are you sure there is no other way? -
Is it time to admit Ryan Tannehill is pretty good?
MJS replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with Greg Cosell's take on Tannehill. He has always been an excellent thrower of the football. He just needs things well defined for him. He needs his reads defined, and he needs the structure to be simple and effective. He isn't going to beat you with his mind. But he can make all the throws and he is accurate. He is also mobile. Because of the lack of the mental aspects of the game, he is never going to be an elite QB. But he has always been decent and he is in a system now that allows him to flourish. -
Titans LB Kamalei Correa Requests Trade UPDATE: traded to Jax
MJS replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the real problem is the defensive line. If that got fixed I think we'd see Edmunds get better. He isn't a game breaker but if he has players around him doing their jobs and playing well he can be a good contributor. -
I picked us to win against KC. I thought it was going to be another game like the Dallas Thanksgiving game where our team comes into primetime fired up, with an elite defense. But... not sure how our defense can handle the Chiefs now. They certainly are not elite anymore. I expect a loss, but we'll see. We've seen McDermott shore up the defense after a big loss in the past.
-
I don't really agree about Phillips because he was always a liability on run downs and he was never diligent with his gaps, but I can agree with Lawson. I was all for moving on from him, but he was good at setting the edge and not letting things get by him. The defensive line really misses that this year. Better to at least have someone set the edge if they can't get to the QB and pressure him. Right now we're getting neither.
-
I just thought the Raiders would be a sneaky team to come in and hand us a loss (and they showed they can do that with their win over the Chiefs). And I felt like we could match up well with the Rams, especially if we could get after Goff, which we didn't. It will be an interesting season. You always win some and lose some you don't expect.
-
That's the nature of these boards. It's Superbowl time when we win a game, and tear it all down and rebuild when we lose a game. Just have to ignore it and move forward.
-
I had us going 4-1, but I had us losing to Vegas and winning against the Titans. But that was a little biased. I just WANTED the win against the Titans because I don't like them and I don't like Tannehill.
-
I'm fine with having mediocre TE's if we can get the defense turned around. The offense is not the problem.

Postgame Thread: Bills at Titans
MJS replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh! You're back from your hibernation now that the Bills lost a game. Welcome back. -
I'd give him a solid C. He had some noticeably off throws today. Throwing behind receivers a lot. Plus the really bad INT where he just didn't see the defender lurking. He was also late on a lot of his throws. Receivers had to be open a long time before he trusted throwing it to them. He needs to get that ball out a bit quicker and hit them right when they come open. But he showed some good stuff. Special teams and defense were really brutal today.
-
They really weren't today. They were not setting the edge. Rushing inside all night and allowing the runners to get around the edge. They can take the blame for the other 28 points though. Plenty of blame points to go around.

Week 5: Bills at Titans on Tuesday Night Football
MJS replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I never claimed our defense was good. Henry was not the problem. Tannehill was the problem. Which is why I said before the game it's ok if Henry runs for 100+ yards. Just stop Tannehill. And we didn't. -
