Tyrods lack of scrambling/running
SaviorPeterman replied to Returntoglory's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is the one thing I truly don't understand and also brings coaching into question. If Taylor does have one key strength it's making plays with his legs and designed roll out plays for him to keep it and run. If McD and/or Dennison are telling him not to run and stay in the pocket and throw do they not understand that's not who Taylor is? And again it raises the question of why not make a QB change if that is why they want out of the position? -
How many snaps did Dareus get?
SaviorPeterman replied to Sky Diver's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not a fan of Dareus and I get that McD and Beane probably want him long gone, but to not even barely use him while he is here also brings their competence into question. -
See a lot of chatter about this subject today on social media and fans/media certainly seemed to be divided on the issue. But one point that continues to be brought up essentially the same question I originally asked in that would Peterman really be a downgrade from Taylor? (i.e. a QB that averages less than 150 passing yards per game). I get that he's a rookie and immobile compared to Taylor, but he has real NFL QB qualities and at least based on preseason made quick reads and fired the football where it needs to go. Taylor doesn't do that and waits for a guy to be wide open to make sure he doesn't throw an INT (i.e. Trent Edwards) and that's why it makes no sense sticking with him given the oline and WR issues. Bottom line we need a true field general that can take command of the offense and throw the WR's open and Peterman could be that guy based on what limited action he's seen.

Fans have every right to be pissed that we are squandered a real chance at a wildcard spot by sticking with a horrible starting QB that has proven time and time again he's not going to take this team to anything more than a .500 record at best.

What has Brandon Beane done to improve this team?
SaviorPeterman replied to Yeezus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nothing, in fact Rex Ryan was trashed for destroying a top ranked defense and that's what ultimately led to his demise. And now that Beane and McD are in the process of doing the same thing with the offense it's time to start asking the same questions and hold them accountable. I still think the bigger picture is how bad the QB play is with Taylor but remains to be seen if they address this. -

If we do lose against the Bucs (and my gut instinct tells me that's coming) things are going to unravel pretty quickly especially if Taylor continues to struggle and the coaches don't make a QB change. Just goes to show how this is a truly a week to week loss and last weeks big win in Atlanta seems like years ago.

Taylor is Trent Edwards with mobility and anytime he's forced to make a tough NFL throw or come back and lead a team to victory he either throws an INT or the pass is wildly inaccurate. Same reason why some of Taylor's stats have always been misleading just like with Edwards and similar players. I have nothing against the guy but it's only a matter of time before he loses the lockerroom, especially the defense because guys are going to stop playing hard when they know the QB can't throw for more than 150 yards a game and the offense averaging 10 points a game. It's not sustainable even with the 86 Bears or 00 Ravens type of defense. Sure switching to Peterman will likely piss some veterans off and create other issues (i.e. rookie mistakes) but the guy is simply better equipped to run this style of offense by default because he's a true QB and not an 'athlete' or RB playing QB.

If we couldn't beat a 1-3 team on the road after the defense forced 3 TO's than no game is a gimme even at home. Don't be surprised if this team finds a way to lose to the Bucs at home after the bye week too especially since we are likely going to be without a lot of guys to injury. In fact I still think Tampa is a real good team that is due to put it all together soon and the Bills would be the perfect opponent for that given this teams history in 'get healthy' games vs. teams needing a big win. Raiders will have Carr back by the time we play then and likely be super desperate and all of a sudden the TNF game at the Jets looks daunting based on their current run. Not even touching the 2nd half of the schedule yet but very likely we'll be no better than 4-4 if this team doesn't find a way to get immediate offensive help during the bye week.
-
My gut feeling told me all along this team wasn't for real. And still think we simply got lucky last week against the Falcons since they were in fact missing their top WR's the entire 2nd half. Obviously look at the difference this week as we tried the same 'play not to lose' garbage against the Bengals and ended up getting torched by an average NFL QB and a top WR. How this teams settles for a FG with starting field position in the redzone is beyond hideous and worst than Jauron era. We'll see what happens but if I had to write a familiar script for this team we end up losing another grind it out game in the 4th quarter in a few weeks at home against the Bucs after the bye week before the wheels come off completely either against the Raiders with Carr back or heaven forbid the the Jets in the TNF game. And quite frankly 8 or 9 wins this year without the playoffs is the worst thing that can happen especially in terms of draft position and the inevitable trade wasting all the picks we have to move up and grab a QB that might not even be worth it.

To be honest and also in Taylor's defense, McCoy has not looked very good this season with the exception of a few plays. Not saying he's finished but this is probably his last season in Buffalo unless something drastic changes.
-
If Clay is lost for the season or even a month I don't see how Beane and McD have any choice but to make a move especially with Jordan Matthews already on the shelf. Not saying we need to trade one of our 1st or 2nd round picks, but a 3rd rounder or later (+ Glenn possibly) can certainly land us a viable starter that would likely be 10X better than the slop we have now.

I don't think most fans were thrilled with this hire, but he was part of a SB winning team that including both Brock Osweiler and a washed up Peyton Manning as starters between the regular season and playoffs. I think the issue with Dennison's offense is he needs a true pocket QB who can not only be an effective game manager but take chances when needed which is why I maintain Peterman would be the better option despite no NFL starts under his belt.

SAL M: Bills WRs have no business being starters.
SaviorPeterman replied to JM2009's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No kidding, just like Tyrod Taylor has no business being an NFL starter. -
Cinci is Better and Played Better
SaviorPeterman replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
But we all knew the injuries were coming, it's the nature of the beast especially in Buffalo and i'm tired of the excuse as to why this is some sort of reason the Bills can't make the playoffs compared to other teams that in some cases are in more dire situations year after year (i.e. the Pats). And that's why serious teams make sure they have adequate depth to weather the injuries that are going to happen to even the most loaded rosters. The bills on the other hand rely on late round draft picks and other also ran players that would be out of the league if not for the Bills. Everybody knew this team was top heavy and always has been and we are now another injury or two away from this season completely going off the rails, it might anyway because certain players aren't giving this team much (McCoy, Dareus, etc). -
It looked season ending to me which sucks because he was finally emerging, but either way his loss for any amount of time ensure this offense looks even more horrendous than todays game. Time for Beane to make a move and prove we're not tanking. No excuse now with all the assets we have in place especially if this team truly fancies themselves a contender.

Cinci is Better and Played Better
SaviorPeterman replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's hard to say that Cinci is better, but most saw this game coming miles away including Vegas who had the Bengals favored from day one. Now if the Bengals go on to win 6 straight games and win the division/make the playoffs this loss doesn't look so bad in hindsight depending on what the Bills also do. Bottom line though when you go on the road and create 3 turnovers you have to win that game regardless of the level of competition and today's loss is reason why the skeptics will be out in full force saying it's simply the same old bills, which they are. -
I've been saying this too and I've never even been a Watkins fan. It's just hard to understand this new regime's thought process if they truly weren't tanking and expected to compete with a makeshift WR roster that's arguably among the worst, if not the absolute worst, since the drought started 17 years ago. Bottom line is Beane telegraphed this offense being one dimensional and the consequences that have resulted now that McCoy and the entire running game has been rendered obsolete in Buffalo.

Bills vs. Bengals Postgame
SaviorPeterman replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We've been 3-2 the every season since 2014, it means nothing. The only difference this year is the defense has been overachieving and lights out, that will no doubt tail off soon like years past. In fact it kind of did today anyway despite the 3 TO's we were lit up by Andy Dalton. Without the TO's we lose by 14+ points and in some ways I wish we would have to magnify this teams issues even more but no doubt that type of loss is coming soon anyway. -
McDermott noncommittal of Glenn starting LT
SaviorPeterman replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Like I said earlier this week when it came up, if we can unload Glenn and his contract and get a player of need in return we'd be stupid not to do it especially if we want to keep any faint playoff hope alive. -
Franchise QB's make plays regardless of the talent around them, they might not always look good doing it but they elevate lesser talent. And in Taylor's defense he's certainly working with the worst group around him in terms of skill position but at some point you have to take chances and he doesn't do that unless he has to like today trailing in the 4th quarter. And when he does he almost always turns it over because he's not a good QB. Bottom line, when your defense force 3 TO's on the road you have to win that game. Especially against a Bengals team that I still don't think is going anywhere this year despite their resurgence the last 3 weeks.
