Ryan Groy on Being a Backup with the Bills
SaviorPeterman replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I understand the importance of back up center especially after what happened last year, but sitting a better player like Groy on the bench makes no sense when he'd be a clear upgrade at the RG position. -
Week 7...Expecations should return to pre-season
SaviorPeterman replied to Jobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When you haven't made the playoffs in a league high 17 years, the past matters unfortunately. I know Terry Pegula and this new regime would like to believe otherwise too but it's simply not the case until this franchise can exorcise all the demons in their closet. And this year will be more disappointing than years past if we don't make the playoffs, assuming the defense is legit and goes to waste like in 2014. -
Peterman ranked #24 best backup in the league
SaviorPeterman replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Making the playoffs with Taylor (yes i'm sure your shocked) of course. I get why Peterman isn't starting but you do have to wonder what's going to happen should we continue to struggle the next few weeks and drop games at home to the likes of the Bucs and Raiders. Just how long is the rope on Taylor before he's pulled? -
Peterman ranked #24 best backup in the league
SaviorPeterman replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just remember, if not for Tony Romo getting hurt last year Dak Prescott would be riding the bench in Dallas. I'm pretty sure we'll see Peterman at some point this season, even if it's for just a few meaningless games in December after we are officially eliminated from the playoffs. -
Poor Chad Kelly, if he wasn't such a head case he probably would been drafted a lot higher. Regardless though I've always felt he was an overrated prospect mostly because of his relation to a certain HOF QB. Many scouts I've spoken with believe that even without the off the field/personality stuff he was always a late round prospect at best from a pure talent standpoint.

Peterman ranked #24 best backup in the league
SaviorPeterman replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I posted this already earlier, but I don't think it's flawed to say that the #10 overall pick is the 3rd best backup especially based on what he did in preseason. This is why I don't have any issue with Peterman being ranked #24th overall either. They at least view him as the best of unknowns so to speak and he was ranked #2 overall behind Mahones by PFF based on preseason metrics. -
You asked a question and I answered it. Speculation aside, Taylor isn't an idiot. He knows Peterman is McD and Beane's guy and they've already raved about him. This is a win now league and if Taylor flounders this year he's done as a starter and will be competing for a backup job on another team. So it's realistic to assume Vick probably echoed those thoughts to him if the topic came up. Either way Taylor still has a chance (albeit a small one) to piss excellence and become a legend in Buffalo if he can be the guy to take this team back to the playoffs for the first time since the little general did back in 99', Taylor is actually similar to Flutie in some ways and has a better arm believe it or not. But unfortunately he doesn't appear to have the intangibles Flutie had.

SI: NFL's best quarterbacks for rest of 2017
SaviorPeterman replied to SaviorPeterman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
True, some pundits including the folks at PFF have been much more generous with Taylor and view him a lot more favorably. -
If anything it should provide motivation, Taylor needs to stop overthinking things and worry about turnovers and let it rip. I've always felt he's essentially a 'poor mans Vick' anyway and when Vick was at his best (as a passer) he was firing rockets. Most critics would appreciate Taylor a lot more, including myself, if he simply took more chances and gave his WR's opportunities to make plays instead of waiting for the perfect situation when they are wide open. He has to understand the talent level we have and these guys aren't good enough to get open on their own in most cases and that's what great QB's do, they elevate the talent around them by giving them opportunities.

Even if it's just for show, they need to take some shots downfield with Thompson and/or Kierlan Clay to try and back defenses off. All it takes is for us to hit a couple nice plays downfield and it will change everything in terms of how defense approach playing the bills and it's not like Taylor can't do that because it's actually one of his few strengths.
-
If Taylor want's to prove he is a real starter he has an opportunity ahead of him to do so. No more excuses, especially since it looks like Matthews will be back this week and the only key player that is going to be out (barring any new injuries) during these next few games or so is Clay. But I think O'Leary is certainly capable of making plays in the passing game at the TE position and scouts have raved about Logan Thomas as well. If Taylor can prove he can make some plays downfield it will do wonders for the running game even if the oline continues to struggle blocking.

Gotta believe that at some point we look at other options at both RG and RT especially with guys like Henderson and Groy on the depth chart. Because if both Ducasse and Mills continue to struggle this week against a Bucs team that is horrendous on defense and I believe has the fewest sacks in the league then something has to give.

Belichik has certainly misfired on some high profile draft picks through the years, but if there is one position he knows it's QB and they've had a wealth of riches at the position with guys like Hoyer and Cassell, who at the very least have been top flight backups and marginal starters during their careers. Brissett likely doesn't have a future in Indy because of Luck but will certainly get a shot somewhere else. Still not sure about Garoppolo but there is a reason why Belichik wouldn't trade him even though teams apparently made substantial offers including the Browns.

John McCargo arrested on charges in 2 states
SaviorPeterman replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One of many horrible draft picks this team has made through the years. But sad that some of these guys lives turn out like this after being given the opportunity of the lifetime in the NFL, and in McCargo's case he made at least a few million as a former 1st round draft choice.
