The Smokin' Jay thread
SaviorPeterman replied to BringBackOrton's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
IMO he's actually a better option for them. Speaking of X factor, Dolphins have that look of a team that is going to win a lot of games this year..... -
Not sure if the Dolphins are simply lucky or truly that good but this is the 2nd straight game they've came back from being down 14+ points in the 2nd half. Regardless Adam Gase was a very good hire for them and they are looking a lot like the team that went on a tear last year coincidentally after the Bills blew a 2 score lead against them in a game that pretty much sent the Bills season into a tailspin.

Or at least for another week anyway. Give credit to Dennison/Taylor/Thompson for responding big time late in the 4th quarter after what seemed to be the game winning TD by the Bucs. In any event, there certainly has to be some real concern going forward with this defense. This is the 2nd straight game they have been torched in the passing game despite creating multiple turnovers. LB's are a major liability in coverage as most expected to be the case, unless Humber is truly that important to the defense (doubtful). Also Gaines appears to be the new Aaron Williams for this defense, very good when he's playing but leaves a lot of games and can't seem to stay healthy. If he's out next week against the Raiders it's not going to help in terms of avoid a 3rd straight game getting lit up in the passing game. Apparently Poyer was hurt on the last play of the game, possibly significant. Overall great win today against a Bucs team that probably played their best game of the season on both sides of the ball.

He's the 2nd highest paid player on the team and we aren't getting anything from him this year. Factor in the injury issues the few years and he certainly appears to be a player on the decline. Who knows what's really happening behind closed doors at One Bills Drive but you have to believe he's on Beane and McD's radar, but not in a good way similar to Dareus.
-
Yes via Mile High Sports (Benjamin Albright, a legit insider). Although they are speculating to a certain degree since the sources don't mention Glenn by name but have to believe any major deal with the Bills would obviously involve him since Beane/McD are obviously trying to unload his bloated contract.

Jameis Winston confidence meter
SaviorPeterman replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm still fairly concerned about this game. Even if Winston isn't 100% he's do for a big game with all the weapons on the Bucs offense and hoping that don't come this week. -
I honestly don't think Beane cares about the ramifications the next few years especially if this team somehow sneaks into the playoffs this year with tons of draft picks to build on. In an ideal scenario though we'd rework Glenn and/or Dareus contract to help facilitate a trade and depending on whether or not these guys want out of Buffalo they might be willing to accommodate.
-
This is what a lot of folks don't get. Regardless of some fans thoughts on Glenn and Dareus, they aren't Beane and McD's guys and in their minds they don't feel they should be paid the kind of money they are getting and tie it back to the previous regime's failures. That's why nobody should be made when (not if) both are traded or released. But if we can swing a trade at least we get something in return and I'm sure they'd be estatic for just about anything in regards to Dareus.

Yes exactly, my bad 5 total....most NFL teams carry 3 max. Regardless of the outlet, Benjamin Albright is a legit insider trust me on this. And what's the matter with Walt Cherpinski's site? He's actually one of the pundits that has been fairly positive regarding the Bills in recent years, in fact I think their 2018 mock draft has us picking 25th overall (not KC's pick) which indicates they expect us to make the playoffs this year.
-
He is on our roster, we have 4 total tackles on the team with him, Glenn, Mills & Henderson which is fueling the speculation about a trade especially since he didn't dump Henderson yet. I'm not saying he's a future all pro, but he was a 6th round pick by the Pats that many thought would go much higher hence the reason Pats wanted to stash him so to speak. Also sources of mine out west loved this kid at UCLA. A towering behemoth of a physical specimen with experience in a pro style offense. Very athletic with rare skills indeed.
-
On paper their overall numbers aren't impressive but PFF actually has them graded out as a top 10 defense just like us. They made the plays they needed to last night and KC got super lucky on a few plays including a deflection that bounced right into the receivers hands for a long TD. Also still think it was another major mistake by this team to pass on a local product like Khalil Mack who is a straight up MONSTER.
-
Yes it shows how much of the load they've truly carried and why we have been fortunate to win 3 of the first 5. But I still think things will balance out soon if the offense doesn't start to show something because no way the defense can sustain this level of play for 16 games and eventually guys simply wear out when they know the other side of the ball is holding up their end of the bargain so to speak.
-
One thing lost in the Glenn discussion (other than the fact that he's not one of Beane/McD guys) is word on the street the Bills are enamored with Conor McDermott (and no not because he shares the last name of our coach. Sounded like Belichik and the Pats were also pissed that they weren't able to sneak him on their practice squad too. So if all this is true, you have to figure this is another possible reason that this regime is trying to move on from Glenn and I still think it's telling that we didn't immediately dump Henderson either after his suspension. We have less than a few weeks to go to the trade deadline but all signs point to something happening soon.

Small sample size but Milano has certainly looked better in coverage compared to Humber who is a stiff more or less.

Some folks are still delusional about this team. Even if the Bills beats the Bucs the Raiders game is massively more important given it's a conference game against a team that most felt would be a legit SB team this year. And I've felt all along that any chance the Bills have at making the playoffs hinges on head to head tie breakers against the AFC West which I still think is a better division than the AFC East regardless of the current standings. We took care of business against the Broncos but it's going to be a much tougher task against the Raiders is Carr and that offense is truly back on track. They also were without Carr one game and he wasn't obviously 100% last week against the Chargers. If he is back and 100% healthy it changes everything and the Raiders are capable of going on a serious run and last nights win could be a catalyst for that. Big difference playing on the road against the Bills and their defense vs. home against the Chiefs whose defense has actually been prettty bad this year despite their previous 5-0 start but we'll see what happens.
